Abstract:With the increasing prevalence of carbon emissions, the issue of sustainable development has become a major concern. Therefore, it is crucial to employ new techniques for accurate and fast carbon emissions detection. While machine learning methods are unable to dynamically capture carbon emissions data for real-time automatic detection, traditional reinforcement learning algorithms require dense extrinsic rewards, which are difficult to achieve. To address these challenges, we propose a deep reinforcement learning algorithm for carbon emissions detection based on pseudo-count exploration. By setting sparse extrinsic rewards, we compare our proposed method with existing machine learning architectures and traditional DRL techniques using the CEADS and CDIAC datasets as experimental datasets. Our findings indicate that our model significantly outperforms the other two types of models in terms of detection performance. Particularly on the highly unbalanced CDIAC dataset, our model achieves the best detection performance. To enhance detection efficiency, we carefully design the exploration space. It is observed that our model is faster than the traditional DRL model, indicating its suitability for deployment and detection in real-world scenarios.
