Abstract:The pre-intercalation of protons into sodium vanadium bronzes can be realized via the phase transition of V2CTx MXene with the aid of sodium metavanadate. In this respect, the fracture of vanadium-carbon bonding within V2CTx MXene can facilitate the accommodation of pre-intercalated cations to the interlamellar spacing between vanadium oxide layers derived from the establishment of vanadium-oxide bonding between metavanadates and vanadium species within V2CTx MXene. The partial substitution of protons for sodium ions within vanadium bronzes contributes to the emergence of cation transport channels and the enhancement of specific charges, which is favorable to promote the endowment of cathode materials involved with rate performance and decent capacities. Moreover, the presence of V(2)CTx MXene served as sacrificial templates can induce the appearance of the two-dimensional arrangement for HNaV6O16 nanosheets, preventing the structural collapse and substantial dissolution of vanadium bronzes during repeated Zn2+ insertion/extraction processes. Consequently, HNaV6O16 cathodes achieve a high reversible capacity of 398.6 mAh g(-1) at 0.5 A g(-1) rather than that of 279.7 mAh g(-1) for Na2V6O16 cathodes. After 5000 cycles, HNaV6O16 cathodes also exhibit the excellent cycling stability with a high capacity retention of 94.1 % at 12 A g(-1).
