Abstract:Biomimetic bone is a crucial biomedical material for bone regeneration. Gradient porous structures exhibit superior advantages over non-gradient porous structures in stress shielding elimination, force transmission, and force distribution. This study established four porous structure types: BCC, FCC, diamond, and gyroid. Using the Gibson-Ashby theory, the dimensional parameters for the desired porosity of each structure were designed. Thirty-two non-gradient structure models and four gradient porous structure models with one-dimensional porosity variations were constructed. Selective laser melting technology was used to fabricate the one-dimensional gradient porous structures. The results revealed that the diamond structure had the best mechanical performance, while the gyroid structure had the poorest. Compared to non-gradient porous structures, the gradient porous structures enabled a gradient stress distribution under external forces, facilitating force transmission to the cortical bone and reducing stress shielding. This gradient design enables biomimetic bone scaffolds to better mimic the mechanical properties of natural bone, enhancing their load-bearing capacity and biocompatibility and providing theoretical support and practical guidance for the clinical applications of bone repair and bone regeneration.
