Abstract:In this paper, a novel vibration measurement method based on acoustic waves and millimeter waves is proposed. The feasibility of using millimeter wave radar to extract vibration information from the surface of an object is analyzed. An experiment was designed to detect the frequency response of different passive sound sources to chirped speech signals using millimeter wave radar. In the experiment, the vibration frequency information and induced vibration modes of water glass and aluminum foil under the influence of 0–2 kHz chirp voice frequency signals were measured. The comparison reveals that different objects produce different vibration frequencies and vibration modes due to their inherent properties. The results of the study help to mine acoustic features that are more applicable to the vibration of object surfaces in the process of recovering speech information from the surfaces using millimeter wave radar.
