Abstract:The prediction of the scattered field of underwater targets is of significant importance for tasks such as target detection, recognition, and the active control of the scattered field. The Equivalent Source Method (ESM) stands out as a widely employed technique for reconstructing the field. ESM entails the synthesis of the acoustic field scattered from arbitrarily shaped targets by combining acoustic fields generated through virtual sources distributed on an equivalent source surface. In an environment with boundaries, estimating or simulating the transfer function is necessary, as seen in scenarios such as rooms or underwater environments. However, challenges arise in modeling the Green function using knowledge about environmental parameters due to mismatches between the model and actual conditions. Consequently, a data-based transfer function is often preferred over a modeled one. The conventional ray-based blind deconvolution (RBD) is constrained to estimating the amplitude-normalized Green function, leading to a loss of amplitude information. This paper introduces a blind deconvolution-based far-field prediction method that incorporates the estimation of the data-based transfer function. The contribution of this approach lies in estimating the Source Level (SL) based on RBD, facilitating accurate estimation of the amplitude of the transfer function. This method provides a practical means to predict the far scattered field of the target without depending on intricate details of environmental parameters.
