Abstract:In this paper, we consider in R n the Cauchy problem for the nonlinear Schrodinger equation with initial data in the Sobolev space W s,p for p n(1 ― 1/p). Moreover, we show that in one space dimension, the problem is locally well posed in L P for any 1 < p < 2.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider in R-n the Cauchy problem for the nonlinear Schrodinger equation with initial data in the Sobolev space W-s,W-p for p < 2. It is well known that this problem is ill posed. However, we show that after a linear transformation by the linear semigroup the problem becomes locally well posed in W-s,W-p for 2n/n+1 < p < 2 and s > n(1 - 1/p). Moreover, we show that in one space dimension, the problem is locally well posed in L-p for any 1 < p < 2.

Abstract:The Cauchy problem for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation is called unconditionally well posed in a data space $E$ if it is well posed in the usual sense and the solution is unique in the space $C([0,T]; E)$. In this paper, this notion of unconditional well-posedness is redefined so that it covers $L^p$-based Sobolev spaces as data space $E$ and it is equivalent to the usual one when $E$ is an $L^2$-based Sobolev space $H^s$. Next, based on this definition, it is shown that the Cauchy problem for the 1D cubic NLS is unconditionally well posed in Bessel potential spaces $H^s_p$ for $4/3<p\le 2$ under certain regularity assumptions on $s$.

Abstract:In this paper we study the Cauchy problem of the fourth-order Schrodinger equation i partial derivative(t)u + a Delta u + b Delta(2)u = +/- uP for dimension <= 4, where p is an integer greater than 1, with initial data in Besov spaces. We prove that for any (4(p2-1))/((4-n)p+4+n) <= q <= infinity, the Cauchy problem of this equation is locally well-posed in B-2,q(Sp) (R-n) and B-2,q(s) (R-n) where s(p) = (n)/(2) - (4)/(p-1) and s > s(p), and for any 1 <= q <= infinity almost global well-posedness holds in these spaces if initial data are small. Abstract:For any subcritical index of regularity s > 3/2, we prove the almost global well posedness for the 2-dimensional semilinear wave equation with the cubic nonlinearity in the derivatives, when the initial data are small in the Sobolev space H s × H s−1 with certain angular regularity. The lifespan is known to be sharp in general. The main new ingredient in the proof is an endpoint version of the generalized Strichartz estimates in the space . In the last section, we also consider the general semilinear wave equations with the spatial dimension n ≥ 2 and the order of nonlinearity p ≥ 3.

Abstract:Firstly, we study the equation □u=|u|qc+|∂u|p with small data, where qc is the critical power of Strauss conjecture and p≥qc. We obtain the optimal estimate of the lifespan ln⁡(Tε)≈ε−qc(qc−1) in n=3, and improve the lower bound of Tε from exp⁡(cε−(qc−1)) to exp⁡(cε−(qc−1)2/2) in n=2. Then, we study the Cauchy problem with small initial data for a system of semilinear wave equations □u=|v|q, □v=|∂tu|p in 3-dimensional space with q<2. We obtain that this system admits a global solution above a p−q curve for spherically symmetric data. On the contrary, we get a new region where the solution will blow up.

Abstract:In this paper, under the exponential/polynomial decay condition in Fourier space, we prove that the nonlinear solution to the quasi-periodic Cauchy problem for the weakly nonlinear Schrödinger equation in higher dimensions will asymptotically approach the associated linear solution within a specific time scale. The proof is based on a combinatorial analysis method present through diagrams. Our results and methods apply to {\em arbitrary} space dimensions and general power-law nonlinearities of the form $\pm|u|^{2p}u$, where $1\leq p\in\mathbb N$.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem of semilinear wave equations which satisfy the "null condition." Abstract:We study the existence of solutions for the Cauchy problem of the non-isotropically perturbed nonlinear Schrödinger equation iut+Δu+|u|αu+aux1x1x1x1+bux1x1x1x1x1x1=0, where a, b are not simultaneously vanishing real constants, α is a positive constant, and x=(x1,x2)∈R2. By using Kato’s method, we establish some local existence results for initial data belonging to Hs(R2), where s≥0 if either b≠0, 0<α≤3, or b=0, a≠0, 0<α≤83, s≥1−3α if b≠0, α>3, and s≥1−38α if b=0, a≠0, α>83. Global existence is also established under some additional conditions.
