Abstract:A p-type organic polymer called poly(triphenylamine-alt-dihydrophenazine) (PTPADPZ) with alternating triphenylamine (TPA) and dihydrophenazine (DPZ) units is designed as the high-potential cathode for dual-ion batteries. The redox N-atom centers in PTPADPZ lead to the anion-storage mechanism and the maxmium 3-electron theoretical specific capacity (C-T) of similar to 190 mAh g(-1). Characterizations confirm that PTPADPZ can store ClO4- and PF6- anions at the high potential above 3 V versus the Li/Na/K-metal anodes. Subsequently, the high-voltage Li/Na/K-based dual-ion full batteries can be simultaneously assembled by using PTPADPZ cathode and graphite (C)/bismuth (Bi)/potassium terephthalate (K2TP) as the anodes, respectively. The Li/Na/K-based dual-ion full batteries can exhibit the high average voltages at 3.35/2.2/2.8 V and the stable discharge capacities of 155/157/128 mAh g(cathode)(-1), ultimately providing the high energy densities of 256/145/146 Wh kg(-1) based on total mass (cathode + anode + electrolyte), respectively.
