Abstract:In all most digital image processings fields, we always get rid of the noise by the digital images transmission in order to improve the quality of the digital image before we process the digital image formally. In this paper, a new noise removed method based on noise concept is introduced, and it demonstrates very good effect on removing noise, such as saltpepper noise , stochastic pulse noise and so on, especially stochastic pulse noise .The arithmetic is simple and effective, and is realized easily. At last, we give a lot of the results of experiments in different noise case . By lots of experiments, we all can get good effects .

Abstract:Noise reduction techniques based on deep learning have demonstrated impressive performance in enhancing the overall quality of recorded speech. While these approaches are highly performant, their application in audio engineering can be limited due to a number of factors. These include operation only on speech without support for music, lack of real-time capability, lack of interpretable control parameters, operation at lower sample rates, and a tendency to introduce artifacts. On the other hand, signal processing-based noise reduction algorithms offer fine-grained control and operation on a broad range of content, however, they often require manual operation to achieve the best results. To address the limitations of both approaches, in this work we introduce a method that leverages a signal processing-based denoiser that when combined with a neural network controller, enables fully automatic and high-fidelity noise reduction on both speech and music signals. We evaluate our proposed method with objective metrics and a perceptual listening test. Our evaluation reveals that speech enhancement models can be extended to music, however training the model to remove only stationary noise is critical. Furthermore, our proposed approach achieves performance on par with the deep learning models, while being significantly more efficient and introducing fewer artifacts in some cases. AUDIT: Audio Editing by Following Instructions with Latent Diffusion Models

Abstract:Audio editing is applicable for various purposes, such as adding background sound effects, replacing a musical instrument, and repairing damaged audio. Recently, some diffusion-based methods achieved zero-shot audio editing by using a diffusion and denoising process conditioned on the text description of the output audio. However, these methods still have some problems: 1) they have not been trained on editing tasks and cannot ensure good editing effects; 2) they can erroneously modify audio segments that do not require editing; 3) they need a complete description of the output audio, which is not always available or necessary in practical scenarios. In this work, we propose AUDIT, an instruction-guided audio editing model based on latent diffusion models. Specifically, AUDIT has three main design features: 1) we construct triplet training data (instruction, input audio, output audio) for different audio editing tasks and train a diffusion model using instruction and input (to be edited) audio as conditions and generating output (edited) audio; 2) it can automatically learn to only modify segments that need to be edited by comparing the difference between the input and output audio; 3) it only needs edit instructions instead of full target audio descriptions as text input. AUDIT achieves state-of-the-art results in both objective and subjective metrics for several audio editing tasks (e.g., adding, dropping, replacement, inpainting, super-resolution). Abstract:Analog cassette tapes are easily changed due to environmental factors. To digitize is the best way to preserve a sound source. The way to digitize is to deal with the original sound to be enhanced to a variety of sources by playing through the audio card after recording. In this process to occur, it's the most important to remove various noise and equalizing sound in a method for preserving. It's studied about how to remove noise by using one of softwares, Cubase 5. 5, to remove hiss noise, which happens changing analog tape into digitalization. A amount of hiss noise is reduced to use X-Noise software of Wave which uses in Cubase 5.0, one of PLUG-IN. The noise is removed changing value of threshold and reduction every 10 times in no change of origin sound. To keep regular condition, the experiment to remove the hiss noise is conducted based on sound meondle, which is one of sound Nonmaegi. The noise is removed easily when the value of threshold is getting high in spite of giving a little value of reduction. However, as it gives a amount of reduction high, the damage rate of the sound source gets high.

Abstract:Arc sound is well known as one of the potential source signals for controlling of welding process quality,which is vulnerable to noise pollution by equipment and environment in sensing,conversing and transmission.Therefore,it is necessary to reduce arc sound noise by hardware and software.Hardware measures include low-noise microphone,grounding devices,eliminating the DC offset exchange coupling,equipment amplifiers,anti-alias filtering and shielding cables,etc.In terms of software,by using Mallat algorithm based on principle of multi-resolution,the noise of arc sound signal is reduced via wavelet decomposition and reconstruction based on LabVIEW.The results show that the burr of arc sound is effectively filtered out,the mutations of waveform are clearer and the noise ratio is obviously increased.The reducing noise means provide technical basis for extracting characteristics of arc signal and monitoring welding quality via arc signal.

Abstract:Acoustic sensors that collect acoustic data over extended periods and broad ranges are widely used in bioacoustics monitoring. However, in open environments, acoustic data collected using acoustic sensors can be subject to interference from various real-world noises, thereby influencing the subsequent analysis and processing of bioacoustic data. Existing bioacoustic noise reduction methods are limited in their application because of their low efficiency, unsuitability for non-stationary noise, generally unimproved signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) efficacy, and considerable amounts of residual noise. These limitations hinder the effective processing of recorded signals for which extraneous noise overlaps with bird vocalizations. In this study, we propose a bioacoustic noise reduction method based on a deep feature loss network for bird sounds. The method has a rapid denoising speed and can more effectively remove background noise from field recording signals without distorting the bird acoustic spectrum. The denoising effects of the proposed method were compared with those of a speech enhancement generative adversarial network, web real-time communications denoising, and other noise reduction methods. The denoising ability of these methods for different noises was evaluated using spectrograms and objective evaluation measures such as the SNR and perceptual evaluation of speech quality (PESQ). The experimental results revealed that our proposed noise reduction method can obtain higher SNRs and PESQ scores than other noise reduction methods, with the SNR increasing by up to 35.83 dB following denoising.

Abstract:This paper presents a new method for removing from strong noise-corrupted speech. It combines adaptive cancellation algorithm with multi-band spectral subtraction algorithm and repetitive spectral subtraction algorithm. The simulation results show its excellent performance in background and music noise cancellation while keeping very low audible distortion.

Abstract:This paper intends to provide the best suited noise removal technique for de-noising and retrieving clean speech from a noisy speech signal. The aim is to use different de-noising techniques and compare their performance and arrive at a conclusion regarding which one of them is best suited for enhancing voice signals. The analysis is done by evaluating the performance of different denoising techniques for different types of speech samples. This evaluation is done by adding random noise to speech signal then applying denoising techniques to get denoised speech signal. A parallelism is drawn between original signal and denoised signal through evaluation parameters such as SNR and PSNR. The denoising methods are broadly classified as ‘The Filtering Methods’ and ‘The Neural Network Methods’. Under filtering methods four different denoising methods have been used. The four different denoising methods are – Adaptive Filter based on LMS Algorithm, Weiner Filter, Chebyshev Filter and Kalman Filter. Under neural network methods we use three different denoising methods ‘ADALINE’ and two deep learning methods with ‘Fully Connected’ and ‘Fully Convolutional’ neural networks. The performance estimation is done based on variation of evaluation parameters (SNR and PSNR values) for different denoising techniques.

Abstract:Clustering algorithms have the characteristics of being simple and efficient and can complete calculations without a large number of datasets, making them suitable for application in noise reduction processing for audio module mass production testing. In order to solve the problems of the NMF algorithm easily getting stuck in local optimal solutions and difficult feature signal extraction, an improved NMF audio denoising algorithm combined with K-means initialization was designed. Firstly, the Euclidean distance formula of K-means has been improved to extract audio signal features from multiple dimensions. Combined with the initialization strategy of K-means decomposition, the initialization dictionary matrix of the NMF algorithm has been optimized to avoid getting stuck in local optimal solutions and effectively improve the robustness of the algorithm. Secondly, in the sparse coding part of the NMF algorithm, feature extraction expressions are added to solve the problem of noise residue and partial spectral signal loss in audio signals during the operation process. At the same time, the size of the coefficient matrix is limited to reduce operation time and improve the accuracy of feature extraction in high-precision audio signals. Then, comparative experiments were conducted using the NOIZEUS and NOISEX-92 datasets, as well as random noise audio signals. This algorithm improved the signal-to-noise ratio by 10–20 dB and reduced harmonic distortion by approximately −10 dB. Finally, a high-precision audio acquisition unit based on FPGA was designed, and practical applications have shown that it can effectively improve the signal-to-noise ratio of audio signals and reduce harmonic distortion.

Abstract:Neural network models for audio tasks, such as automatic speech recognition (ASR) and acoustic scene classification (ASC), are susceptible to noise contamination for real-life applications. To improve audio quality, an enhancement module, which can be developed independently, is explicitly used at the front-end of the target audio applications. In this paper, we present an end-to-end learning solution to jointly optimise the models for audio enhancement (AE) and the subsequent applications. To guide the optimisation of the AE module towards a target application, and especially to overcome difficult samples, we make use of the sample-wise performance measure as an indication of sample importance. In experiments, we consider four representative applications to evaluate our training paradigm, i.e., ASR, speech command recognition (SCR), speech emotion recognition (SER), and ASC. These applications are associated with speech and nonspeech tasks concerning semantic and non-semantic features, transient and global information, and the experimental results indicate that our proposed approach can considerably boost the noise robustness of the models, especially at low signal-to-noise ratios, for a wide range of computer audition tasks in everyday-life noisy environments.

Audio Noise Reduction from Audio Signals and Speech Signals

Abstract:Speech signal analysis is one of the important areas of research in multimedia applications. Discrete Wavelet technique is effectively reduces the unwanted higher or lower order frequency components in a speech signal. Wavelet-based algorithm for audio de-noising is worked out. We focused on audio signals corrupted with white Gaussian noise which is especially hard to remove because it is located in all frequencies. We use Discrete Wavelet transform (DWT) to transform noisy audio signal in wavelet domain. It is assumed that high amplitude DWT coefficients represent signal, and low amplitude coefficients represent noise. Using thresholding of coefficients and transforming them back to time domain it is possible to get audio signal with less noise. Our work has been modified by changing universal thresholding of coefficients which results with better audio signal. In this various parameters such as SNR, Elapsed Time, and Threshold value is analyzed on various types of wavelet techniques alike Coiflet, Daubechies, Symlet etc. In all these, best Daubechies as compared to SNR is more for Denoising and Elapsed Time is less than others for Soft thresholding. In using hard thresholding Symlet wavelet also works better than coiflet and Daubechies is best for all. Efficiency is 98.3 for de-noising audio signals which also gives us better results than various filters.

Abstract:Speech processing in hearing aid often operates in noisy environments. So noise reduction algorithm is very important for hearing aid. This paper reviews conventional wiener filter algorithm and points out its remained problems----musical residual noise and low speech intelligibility for low input signal-to-noise ratios (SNR). To solve the problems, the proposed algorithm divides the frequency (0-8000 Hz) into 16 bands in Mel-frequency scale and processes the signal separately to remove musical residual noise. Meanwhile, a new Voice Activity Detector (VAD) applied for digital hearing aid is also presented. Based on the accurate judgment of speech frame, the filter processes the speech frame and non-speech frame in different ways. The method is realized in matlab to test output SNR and PESQ (Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality). It is also realized in android app for real-time test. Both of the experimental results demonstrate the advances of the proposed algorithm.

Abstract:In this study, we conduct a comparative analysis of deep learning-based noise reduction methods in low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) scenarios. Our investigation primarily focuses on five key aspects: The impact of training data, the influence of various loss functions, the effectiveness of direct and indirect speech estimation techniques, the efficacy of masking, mapping, and deep filtering methodologies, and the exploration of different model capacities on noise reduction performance and speech quality. Through comprehensive experimentation, we provide insights into the strengths, weaknesses, and applicability of these methods in low SNR environments. The findings derived from our analysis are intended to assist both researchers and practitioners in selecting better techniques tailored to their specific applications within the domain of low SNR noise reduction.

Abstract:Technologies pertaining to improving an auditory experience of a listener are described. Audio is modified based upon noise generated by noise sources in an environment. A microphone generates a signal that is representative of noise in the environment, and the signal is processed to identify peak frequencies therein. When a key frequency of the audio is proximate to a peak frequency in the noise, the audio is modified to improve the listener's perception of the audio.

Abstract:Noise reduction algorithms to improve speech intelligibility are needed when sounds are compressed and amplified in hearing aids.A sub-band adaptive noise reduction algorithm was developed with a weighted overlap-add filter bank and psycho-acoustic model for the sub-band splitting.The non-linear noise reduction gains are computed with an estimated a posteriori signal to noise ratio (SNR)and an a priori SNR.The gain floors are determined based on the estimated noise level expressed as the dB sound pressure level (SPL).The final gains are smoothed between the frames by a peak detector with carefully selected attack and release time constants.Listening tests show 12％ to 45％ improvements in intelligibility by this algorithm for noise corrupted speech.A quantified gain table is also used to replace the non-linear gain computing when the algorithm is implemented on the EZAIRO5900 digital signal processor,with the execution cycle reduced by about 30％.

Abstract:We proposed a very practical and useful noise reduction system that has wide application for hearing impaired persons, such as a sound-gathering system at a lecture hall or conference room. The system uses two basic technologies, a speech/non-speech identification process and a new noise reduction process. A speech/non-speech identification process uses four characteristics of the time and frequency domains of the input signal. In the noise reduction process, frequency weighting function is used for basic spectral subtraction and a loss control algorithm. Various kinds of environmental noise were reduced by this system, which showed excellent performance. Noise is further reduced by using a multi-microphone system as an acoustic noise suppressor. The results of intelligibility tests using persons with hearing loss show excellent noise reduction.

Abstract:Dictionary-based methods are recognized for their ability to estimate clear speech from speech contaminated with noise. However, these techniques face a limitation in distinguishing between speech and noise components. The presented algorithm addresses this challenge by introducing an innovative solution through an iterative thresholding method. In this method, the thresholding is based on noise characteristics and remains independent of variations in noise power. To determine the stopping criteria for thresholding, the algorithm leverages the structure of the speech signal in time–frequency domains using the Gini Index. Remarkably, this technique adeptly extracts reliable signal components from a noisy time–frequency magnitude spectrum, performing well under non-varying and varying Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) conditions. Importantly, it achieves this without the need for mask functions, voice activity detection techniques, noise or mixture dictionaries, or SNR information, which are essential components in other dictionary-based methods. Following the thresholding process, the clean speech is assessed using a dictionary-based approach to restore perceptual loss. In evaluating its performance, the algorithm is compared with traditional enhancement techniques concerning perceptual evaluation of speech quality and short-time objective intelligibility. The assessment is conducted under various background noise conditions, including babble, white, factory, and Volvo noises. The proposed algorithm exhibits superior performance, particularly in low and varying SNR scenarios.

AudioEditor: A Training-Free Diffusion-Based Audio Editing Framework

Abstract:Diffusion-based text-to-audio (TTA) generation has made substantial progress, leveraging latent diffusion model (LDM) to produce high-quality, diverse and instruction-relevant audios. However, beyond generation, the task of audio editing remains equally important but has received comparatively little attention. Audio editing tasks face two primary challenges: executing precise edits and preserving the unedited sections. While workflows based on LDMs have effectively addressed these challenges in the field of image processing, similar approaches have been scarcely applied to audio editing. In this paper, we introduce AudioEditor, a training-free audio editing framework built on the pretrained diffusion-based TTA model. AudioEditor incorporates Null-text Inversion and EOT-suppression methods, enabling the model to preserve original audio features while executing accurate edits. Comprehensive objective and subjective experiments validate the effectiveness of AudioEditor in delivering high-quality audio edits.
