Abstract:Thermo-mechanical devulcanization of ground tire rubber (GTR) in a planetary extruder was investigated. The processing parameters of recycled rubber were studied based on standardized protocols using a Mooney viscometer and a rubber processing analyzer (RPA). Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy were used to determine rubber structure. Devulcanization process upscaling limits processing properties of recycled rubber, which for partially devulcanized rubber can be determined only by RPA rheometer.
