Abstract:Few-shot intent detection is a crucial and challenging problem in task-oriented dialogue systems due to the scarcity of labeled utterances and the emergence of various new intents. Despite recent advances, existing few-shot intent detection methods either ignore the semantic information of class labels and represent each user utterance with a single feature vector, or require a specific metric to determine the relations between support-query pairs and overlook the intrinsic intra-class and inter-class relations in the original support set. In this paper, we propose a novel few-shot intent detection model to address the above two limitations. First, we introduce a label-enhanced hierarchical feature learning module to extract semantic contents from user utterances. Second, we explicitly construct an affinity graph for all the support and query samples in each task by utilizing the inherent intra-class and inter-class relations, and further leverage graph neural networks to accomplish feature propagation and relation learning for each support-query pair. Extensive experiments on two real task-oriented dialogue datasets in different languages demonstrated that our proposed method can significantly outperform other baselines.
