Abstract:Vision-based tactile sensors provide robots with rich tactile information, particularly the distribution of contact forces, aiding efficient and reliable autonomous operations. However, precise force distribution reconstruction often increases computational complexity and reduces real-time performance. This paper addresses the need for efficient contact force distribution measurement in vision-based sensors. By examining the force-deformation response of elastic body, the multi-layer multipole mapping model (MMM) is proposed for force reconstruction with low computational cost. The hierarchical mapping model goes beyond traditional coordinate spaces, mapping surface distribution forces to marker point displacements through a compact multipole mapping. The mapping parameters are allocated based on influence, minimizing computational cost while maintaining accuracy. The model's complexity is theoretically proven. In experiments, the multi-layer multipole mapping model shows good force reconstruction results for various deformation fields and demonstrates strong computational cost advantages at similar accuracy levels compared to existing models.
