Abstract:Curcumin, a polyphenolic compound derived from turmeric, possesses significant biological properties that have been extensively studied for their therapeutic applications in disease treatment. Despite its potential benefits in inhibiting disease progression, the efficacy of curcumin is constrained by its poor water solubility and low bioavailability. To address these limitations, this study explores innovative drug delivery systems, including lipid-based nanoparticles, polymeric nanoparticles, micelles, and nanogels. The research evaluates various nanotechnologies designed to enhance the bioavailability of curcumin, providing a detailed examination of their advantages, limitations, and a comparative analysis of the materials utilized. The analysis further discusses the application prospects and future development potential of these nanotechnologies, aiming to improve the bioavailability and optimization of curcumin and its derivatives, thereby advancing the field and suggesting new directions for future research.
