Phosphorus Sulfur and Silicon and the Related Elements

Abstract:Three quinoline carbonothioate compounds were synthesized using o-fluoroaniline and ethyl 2-methylacetoacetate as starting materials via multi-steps. The structures of three compounds were confirmed using H-1 NMR and HRMS. The structure of O-ethyl S-(8-fluoro-2,3-dimethylquinolin-4-yl) carbonothioate (3a) was further determined through X-ray single-crystal diffraction. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis indicated that compound 3a crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c, with unit cell parameters: a = 14.3284(6) & Aring;, b = 19.2857(8) & Aring;, c = 10.3990(5) & Aring;, beta = 108.1220(10)degrees, V = 2731.0(2) & Aring;(3). In addition, the physicochemical properties of compound 3a were calculated and discussed using molecular electrostatic potential, frontier molecular orbital and Hirshfeld surface analysis. The antifungal activity of the three compounds was evaluated at 50 mu g/mL, with compound 3b exhibiting good activity (75.8%) against R. solani.

Abstract:Seven new quinoxaline derivatives 3a-3g were synthesized through two steps convenient approach. Their structures were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared, proton nuclear magnetic resonance, and high-resolution mass spectrometry. The synthesized compounds 3a-3g showed good fluorescent intensity in dimethyl sulfoxide. They were also shown to possess good antifungal activities. The structure-activity relationship was studied by density functional theory calculations.

Abstract:The synthesis of (E)-2-(4-bromostyryl)quinoline involves an acid catalysed condensation of 2-methylquinoline and 4-bromobenzaldehyde. (E)-4'-[(2-(Quinolin-2-yl)vinyl)]-(1,1'-biphenyl)-4-carbaldehyde has been synthesised from (E)-2-(4-bromostyryl) quinoline and 4-formylphenylboronic acid via a Suzuki coupling reaction. A series of novel quinoline derivatives containing both a biphenyl group and an alpha, beta-diarylacrylonitrile unit have been prepared by the base-catalysed condensation between (E)-4'-[(2-(quinolin-2-yl)vinyl)]-(1,1'-biphenyl)-4-carbaldehyde and various arylacetonitriles. By contrast, the acid-catalysed condensation of the latter aldehyde with several aniline derivatives has been used to synthesise quinolines containing an imine group. These compounds, which have implications for the manufacture of organic light-emitting diodes, emit blue to green fluorescence with maximum emission peaks of 419-531 nm in solution and in the solid state under UV irradiation. Thermogravimetric analysis reveals their good thermal stability with a decomposition temperature range from 313 to 387 degrees C.

Abstract:A series of N-alkyl or N-aryl chitosan quaternary ammonium salts were prepared via Schiffs base intermediates. Quaternization of N-substituted chitosan derivatives was carried out using methyl iodide to produce water-soluble cationic chitosan quaternary ammonium salt. The products were characterized by IR, (HNMR)-H-1 and elemental analysis. The degree of substitution of chitosan quaternary ammonium salt was calculated by elemental analysis.

Abstract:The synthesis of N-substitued-4-trifluoromethylpyrimi-dinyl-2-amines was studied using 2-chloro-4-trifluoromethylpyri-midine and ammonium hydroxide or substituted amines as raw materials.The optimum reaction conditions were as follows:a ratio of n(amines)∶n(2-chloro-4-trifluoromethylpyrimidine)=4∶1,a reaction temperature of 110 ℃,and a reaction time of 10 h in the presence of ethanol as the solvent.The yield of N-subtitued-4-trifluoromethylpyrimidinyl-2-amines was about 78%.Structures of new compounds were confirmed by 1HNMR and elemental analysis.

Abstract:This study demonstrates the synthesis of five novel quaternary ammonium aldimines through a two-step synthetic route involving a condensation reaction between 4-pyridincarboxyaldehyde and 3,4,5-trimethoxyaniline, followed by the quaternization of the pyridine N-atom with various aromatic α-bromo ketones. The newly obtained compounds underwent characterization for both purity and molecular structure, utilizing HR-MS, 1D, and 2D NMR spectroscopy in solution, as well as a comparison between single-crystal and powder X-ray analyses in a solid state. The thermal behavior of the studied compounds was evaluated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The antioxidant properties of the compounds were assessed through DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging and ferric-reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assays, employing Trolox as a standard. The performed in vitro antibacterial screening indicates a selective antibacterial activity against Gram-negative K. pneumoniae and P. aeruginosa, while no such activity is detected for Gram-negative E. coli and Gram-positive S. aureus.

Abstract:Using [5-(4-bromophenyl)-10,15,20-triphenylporphinato]zinc(II) as the substrate, 5-(4'-amino-biphenyl-4-yl)-10,15,20-triphenylporphyrin, [5-(4'-amino-biphenyl-4-yl)-10,15,20-triphenylporphinato]zinc(II) and [5-(4'-methylthio-biphenyl-4-yl)-10,15,20-triphenylporphinato]zinc(II) were synthesized by Stille coupling reaction. The structures of all the products were characterized by UV, NMR, IR, MS techniques. The fluorescence and electrochemical properties of some compounds were also studied.

Abstract:A single crystal of new 2-substitued quinazoline derivative has been successfully synthesized through a simple and novel process based on a two-step reaction involving cyclisation, oxidation and hydrasination. The structure of the newly synthesized product was fully characterized by spectroscopic analysis NMR ( 1 H & 13 C), IR and HRMS. This intriguing compound crystalizes crystallises in a monoclinic system with P21/c space group. Notably, the stability of crystal packing was assured via hydrogen bonds, π- stacking and van der Waals interactions. An intermolecular interaction examination of the crystal structure was performed using Hirshfeld surface analysis and two-dimensional fingerprint plots. In addition, the electrostatic surface potential was calculated using density functional theory. In addition, the 3-amino-2-(2-thienyl)-4(3H)-quinazolinone, was applied to selected bacterial strains, and its antibacterial activity was assessed. In addition, a molecular docking study has been realised.

Abstract:Two series of liquid crystal tetraporphyrins with chiral side chains were synthesized. Their structures were characterized by elemental analysis, UV-vis, FT-IR, 1H NMR, MS, DSC and CD. The results show that they have the liquid crystal, solid photoluminescent and electroluminescent properties. Among them, two porphyrin compounds have the strong cotton absorption effect.

Abstract:New triphenylamine derivatives 1, 2, 3, and 4 were synthesized and characterized by IR, FAB-MS, EPR and EA. All of them displayed similar absorption and fluorescence spectra except compound 1, for which a possible explanation was proposed. Quasi-reversible oxidation waves at about 0.76 V (vs. SCE) and 1.1 V for nitronyl nitroxide and iminyl nitroxide respectively as well as irreversible one at about 1.5 V for triphenylamine group were detected with cyclic voltammetry for compounds 1, 2, 3 and 4. Crystal structures of 2 and 4 were determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. Their crystal data are as follows: for 2: mono-clinic, C2/c, a = 1.69914 (4), b = 1.37435(5), c = 1.24621(5) nm, beta = 106.553(2)degrees, V = 2.7896(2) nm(3), Z = 4; for 4: orthorhombic, Pbca, a = 1.95970(6), b = 1.33096 (4), c = 4.84691 (14) nm, V = 12.6421(7) nm(3), Z = 8. Magnetic studies indicated that all of them showed antiferromagnetic properties in solid state, but with strong intermolecular spin-spin coupling as indicated by the relatively large values of theta, in particular for 4 (theta = - 12 K). Possible spin-spin interaction mechanism was suggested based on the crystal structures of 2 and 4.

Abstract:In this work, we successfully explored a one-pot strategy to synthesize valuable chiral 2-functionalized tetrahydroquinoline motifs through the precise modification of amides derived from commercially available natural amino acids and their derivatives via Pd/Cu−catalyzed cascade γ−C(sp3)−H arylation/C−N coupling with good maintenance of chirality. This methodology offers an alternative route for facile access to valuable chiral tetrahydroquinolines motifs with good regioselectivity and broad functional group compatibility for drug discovery. The synthetic applications of this methodology to the late−stage functionalization of natural products, drugs, and biomolecules have also been well−demonstrated.

Abstract:Three compounds derived from 4-aminoantipyrine (AA) were synthesized and their structures confirmed by melting point, elemental analysis, FT-IR, and 1H-NMR. The molecular structures of the four compounds were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and calculated by using the density functional theory (DFT) method with 6-31G (d) basis set. The calculated molecular geometries and the vibration frequencies of the AA derivatives in the ground state have been compared with the experimental data. The results show that the optimized geometries can reproduce well the crystal structural parameters, and the theoretical vibration frequencies show good agreement with the experimental data, although the experimental data are different from the theoretical ones due to the intermolecular forces. Besides, the molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) and the frontier molecular orbital (FMO) analysis of the compounds were investigated by theoretical calculations.

Abstract:Aryl halides were prepared by condensation of 2-methylquinoline and bromo- or chloro-arylaldehydes in acetic anhydride. Diarylamines reacted with the aryl halides to afford novel triarylamine derivatives using Pd(OAc)(2)/P (o-tolyl)(3) as catalyst. These compounds have potential as organic light-emitting device materials and were characterised by FT-IR, H-1 NMR and elemental analyses. The UV-vis absorption and photoluminescent spectra of the compounds in CH2Cl2 were investigated. The lowest absorption band of the triarylamine derivatives centred at about 400 nm was assigned to a charge-transfer transition with an emission at 500-515 nm.

Abstract:Cu(II) catalyzed open air reactions of 2,5-bis(-P(O)R 2 ))-3,6-dichloro-hydroquinones (R = Ph or i Pr) with selected primary amines or ammonia proceeded with oxidation of the hydroquinone ring and substitution of chlorines by the amino groups. The products of these reactions were 2,5-bis(-P(O)R 2 ))-3,6-di(-NHR')-quinones ( 1a , R = Ph, R′ = Cy; 1b , R = i Pr, R′ = Cy; 2a , R = Ph, R′ = –CH(CH 2 OH) 2 ; 2b , R = i Pr, R′ = –CH(CH 2 OH) 2 ; 3a , R = Ph, R′ = –CH 2 CH(OH)CH 2 OH; 3b , R = i Pr, R′ = CH 2 CH(OH)CH 2 OH; 4a (R = Ph, R′ = H; 4b , R = i Pr, R′ = H). They were isolated as bright orange or yellow solids in moderate/good yields. The compounds were characterized by multinuclear ( 1 H, 13 C, 31 P) NMR, FT-IR, UV–Vis, high resolution mass-spectrometry, and cyclic voltammetry. Compounds 1b , 2a , 3a and 4a,b were also characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction methods.

Abstract:Based on the structural feature of nonclassical antifolates, a series of 4 (3H)-quinazolinone derivatives bearing aromatic amine side chains have been designed by incorporating trimethoxyphenyl, an antitumor pharmacophore, with 4 (3H)-quinazolinone. N-alkylation of 3,4,5-trimethoxyphenylamine with appropriate amount of alkyl halides afforded 4 kinds of N-substituted 3,4,5-trimethoxyphenylamines in 30.3%~60.6% yields. The target compounds 8a 8m were obtained through the reactions of 6-bromo-2-methyl-4 (3H)-quinazolinone with 3,4,5-trimethoxyphenylamine, N-substituted 3,4,5-trimethoxyphenylamines or other arylamines at room temperature in 30.8%~71.9% yields, and their structures were confirmed by means of ESIMS, 1H NMR, elemental analysis or HRMS. The in vitro cytotoxicities against A-549 (human non-small cell lung cancer), HCT-8 (human colon cancer) and Bel-7402 (human liver cancer) cell lines of the synthesized compounds 8a~8m were tested with colorimetric MTT assay, and the results indicated that the percent growth inhibition against A-549, HCT-8 and Bel-7402 cell lines at 5×10^(-6)g/mL concentration of the compounds 8a~8m were all lower than 25%.
