Abstract:We have read a recently published study entitled “5-Methoxytryptophan is a potential marker for post-myocardial infarction heart failure — a preliminary approach to clinical utility” written by Lin Yen-Hung [ [1] Lin Y.H. Kuo C.C. Lee C.M. et al. 5-Methoxytryptophan is a potential marker for post-myocardial infarction heart failure — a preliminary approach to clinical utility. Int. J. Cardiol. 2016; 222: 895-900 Abstract Full Text Full Text PDF PubMed Scopus (9) Google Scholar ]. This study revealed that the STEMI patients had a lower plasma 5-methoxytryptophan (5-MTP) level, and the level of 5-MTP at day 3 post-myocardial infarction (post-MI) was correlated with the level of NT-pro BNP 1 year, which was verified by AUC, NRI and IDI analyses. Reply to letter: “5-Methoxytryptophan: A promising early marker for predicting post-myocardial infarction heart failure”International Journal of CardiologyVol. 234PreviewWe would like to thank Dr. Yang et al. for their comments [1] regarding our paper entitled ‘5-Methoxytryptophan is a potential marker for post-myocardial infarction heart failure — a preliminary approach to clinical utility”’ [2]. In our study, we show the potential of plasma 5-methoxytryptophan (5-MTP) level at acute stage of myocardial infarction (MI) as an early marker to predict post-MI heart failure (HF). Full-Text PDF
