Review and Prospect on the Meteorological Exchange Across the Taiwan Straits over the Past Sixty Years

Abstract:The weather system is interconnected across the Taiwan straits so the catastrophic weather is often similar.The meteorological information and technology are highly complementary for mainland and Taiwan,China.The meteorological exchange contributes to enhancing the national feelings of people across the Taiwan straits,and to improving the abilities of responding to the meteorological disasters,so it becomes one of the earliest fields of exchange across the Taiwan straits.In the past 60 years,the meteorological community across the Taiwan straits has gone through the stages of non-exchange,asymmetric exchange,and interaction.Especially,it has entered the stage of development in depth since 2008.The paper summarizes the historical experience of meteorological exchange across the Taiwan straits,analyzes its obstacles,and looks into its future development.
