Abstract:This study examined the effects of enhanced design of prescription medication labels on label legibility among elderly individuals in China. The layout, structuring, and visual representation of drug labels were enhanced. A group of thirty Chinese elderly participants was recruited to evaluate their comprehension and satisfaction with both the newly designed and conventional labels through a series of comprehension tests and satisfaction assessments. Participants in the experimental group demonstrated superior performance in label reading efficiency and comprehension compared to the control group. The redesigned prescription medication labels improved the elderly’s understanding of medication information, enhancing legibility and accessibility. The findings suggested that substantial improvements to the layout and presentation of information on prescription medication labels could enhance satisfaction with the label and improve medication adherence accuracy among the elderly.
