Abstract:Depression is a common mood disorder that affects a significant portion of the population. Traditional depression diagnosis methods have limitations, which always depend on the experience of the clinician and are subjective. To overcome the above limitations, a new depression detection method based on users' network behaviors is expected to provide a fast, real-time, and accurate diagnostic tool to help people deal with depression problems in a timely manner. In this paper, we propose a novel approach for detecting depression by network time-series data, which adapts an improved anomaly detection method, i.e., DBSC-LOF in the feature engineering stage. By combining statistical and frequency-domain features extracted, we select the best classifier AdaBoost which has the best overall performance. To evaluate the ability of our improved anomaly detection method, detection accuracy and computation time are tested. Also, both the significance test and contribution assessment demonstrate that our extracted features have great distinguishing abilities between depressed and normal users.
