Abstract:The vibration signal from the fluid end of a reciprocating drilling pump exhibits characteristics of homotypic multi-source mixing due to the superposition in the time domain of impulse sequences generated by the motion of multiple cylinder valve bodies related to the crankshaft angle. Identifying and decoupling the multi-source impulse sequences from the fluid end is crucial for fault diagnosis and localization in drilling pumps. Existing decomposition methods struggle to address such homotypic multi-source mixing issues. Therefore, this study proposes a new maximum time-shift kurtosis-based homotypic multi-source mixed signals separation method (MTSK-HMMS-S). This method integrates the motion mechanism of the drilling pump and prior parameters of the pump stroke frequency, extracting cyclic impulse sequences through the time-shift kurtosis (TSK) index and adaptively separating the impulse sources within the homotypic multi-source mixed signals of the drilling pump. To further describe the morphological characteristics of the impulse signals, this study also introduces a vibration grading weighted index (VGWI). The characteristics of fault impulses are highlighted by employing a graded weighting approach, aiding in the fault diagnosis and localization of drilling pumps. The effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed method in the fault localization of drilling pumps are validated through simulations and actual vibration signal tests, showing broad application prospects in fault diagnosis and localization at the fluid end of reciprocating drilling pumps.
