Abstract:Based on the edge computing architecture, real-time fault diagnosis of rotating machinery enables the timely detection of faults, thereby enhancing the safety of industrial production. Recently, graph theory has gained widespread attention in performance improvement of feature extraction. However, there are certain limitations when migrating graph theory-based fault diagnosis methods to the edge side applications: 1) Using raw features as node attributes leads to high computational complexity. 2) The extensive utilization of training samples in the diagnostic process leads to prolonged diagnostic latency and inefficient performance. In this paper, an improved graph sampling-based machine fault diagnosis under edge computing architecture is proposed. Specifically, establishing a Feature Compression-Edge Predictor (FC-EP) that simultaneously outputs compressed features as node attributes and constructs node connections. Building upon this, graph sampling method is employed to decrease the number of nodes used in each instance of model training and inference. Then, sampled graphs are utilized for training a Chebyshev graph convolutional network (GCN). After completing model training, each diagnostic node is added as new node to one sampled graph to simulate real-time fault diagnosis scenarios. Subsequently, this approach is deployed into a Raspberry Pi platform for verification. Comparative experimental results indicate that the proposed method demonstrates high diagnostic accuracy along with low computational latency.
