Abstract:Although noble metals such as Pt, Ir, Pd, Ru, and Rh perform well in hydrogen evolution reaction, they cannot be used for a long time due to their high price, easy aggregation, and loss of activity, resulting in a decrease in catalytic performance. In this study, MXene material (Ti2C3) was prepared by etching Ti3AlC2, and MXene/MIL-125-NH2 was successfully prepared by loading MIL-125-NH2 with a porous structure on the surface of MXene. Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize MXene and MXene/MIL-125-NH2. The electrocatalytic performance of the two materials was compared through material characterization and electrochemical testing. The results showed that MXene/MIL-125-NH2 had a lower overpotential (10 mA/cm2, 248 mV), a smaller Tafel slope (23.9 mV/dec), and a double layer capacitance calculated from cyclic voltammetry curve fitting of 1.72 mF/cm2 in 1 mol/L H2SO4 solution, with an increase of catalytic active area over MXene by a factor of 1.4 times. Through 200 cyclic voltammetry tests, there was no significant change in the polarization curve of MXene/MIL-125-NH2, indicating good hydrogen evolution stability. This study provides a new idea for the preparation of electrocatalysts
