Abstract:The radiation properties of non-gray participating media have a strong wavelength-dependence. Since highly accurate results require very large computational cost, a global radiative property model, which combines the features of full-spectrum k -distribution (FSK) model with the weighted sum of gray gases (WSGG) model, is used for the non-gray radiation problem to reduce the computational burden. The optical thickness in the global model may vary from optical thin to optical thick, so the non-gray thermal radiation is essentially a multiscale problem. In this paper, a multiscale steady discrete unified gas kinetic scheme (SDUGKS) originally developed for gray radiative heat transfer problems (Song et al., 2023) is extended to solve these non-gray radiation problems involving mixtures of non-gray gases and non-gray particles. With the coupling of the scattering, absorbing, and emitting along the characteristic line of the radiative transfer equation (RTE) in reconstructing the cell interface intensity, the mesh size of the present method is no longer limited by the photon mean free path. Several one-dimensional numerical tests for non-gray mixed media are performed to verify the accuracy of SDUGKS. Furthermore, three-dimensional problems involving non-isothermal non-gray gases, non-gray particles and non-gray gas-particle mixtures are also investigated. The results demonstrate that the SDUGKS has great performance in non-gray multiscale radiation problems. Additionally, the volume fraction of fly ash particles and wall emissivity have significant influences on the distribution of the radiation source term in the high temperature region and near the wall, respectively.
