Abstract:Polyaniline (PANI)-LiNi0.5La0.02Fe1.98O4 nanocomposites were synthesized by an in situ polymerization of aniline in the presence of LiNi0.5La0.02Fe1.98O4 ferrite. The products were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), atomic force microscopy (AFM), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). FTIR spectra and XRD indicated the formation of the PANI-LiNi0.5La0.02Fe1.98O4 composites. AFM study was shown that the average size of samples was less than 100nm and the ferrite particles had an effect on the morphology of composites. The nanocomposites under applied magnetic field exhibited the hysteresis loops of the ferrimagnetic nature, the saturation magnetization and the coercivity varied with the ferrite content. The bonding model for the composites was also studied.
Electromagnetic wave absorbing property of polyaniline/polystyrene composites

Abstract:The electromagnetic wave absorbing property of Polyaniline (PAni)/Polystyrene (PS) composite was studied by measuring reflectivity in darkroom. The results indicated that the conductivity and electromagnetic wave absorbing property of PAni/PS composite increased with increasing content of the doped PAni. Doped PAni with fiber-like morphology has better electromagnetic wave absorbing property than that of PAni with particle-like morphology. The frequency breadth of the reflectivity below-10 dB is 6 GHz (11.6-17.6 GHz) by optimizing the electromagnetic parameters of the PAni/PS micro/nano-composite.
In situ preparation of PANI/ZnO/CoFe 2 O 4 composite with enhanced microwave absorption performance

Abstract:The PANI/ZnO/CoFe 2 O 4 (CFO) composite were fabricated via an in situ polymerization method. The phase structures, morphologies, magnetic performances, and microwave absorption performances of the as-prepared composite were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, vibrating sample magnetometer, and vector network analyzer, respectively. Compared with the pure PANI and PANI/ZnO composite, the as-prepared PANI/ZnO/CFO composite exhibits enhanced microwave absorption performances. The maximum reflection loss is −41.9 dB at 10.3 GHz with a match thickness of 3.0 mm. Moreover, the microwave absorption bandwidth of PANI/ZnO/CFO composite below −10 dB is from 8.7 to 12.6 GHz. For the maximum reflection loss and the microwave absorption bandwidth, the PANI/ZnO/CFO composite is better than the PANI powder, PANI/ZnO composite and the reported PANI-based composites, which could be attributed to better impedance match.

Abstract:The binary composites of conducting polyaniline (PANI) and nickle zinc ferrite were synthesized by an in-situ polymerization process, and the electromagnetic absorption properties of the composites were also investigated. The FT-IR spectra present the peaks of PANI (1562, 1481, 1301, 1109, and 799cm−1) and the bonds of NiZn ferrite (579 and 390cm−1), indicating the existence of both NiZn ferrite particles and PANI in the composites. With the increasing ratio of nickle zinc ferrite, the composites distributes in irregular compared with pure PANI and Ni0.6Zn0.4Fe2O4. The TG curves of the pure PANI and PANI/Ni0.6Zn0.4Fe2O4 composites with different molar ratios clearly show the increase percentage of the ferrite in the composites. Furthermore, we found that the excellent electromagnetic absorption properties and wide absorption bandwidth can be achieved by adjusting proper molar ratios Ni0.6Zn0.4Fe2O4 to PANI. The maximum reflection loss of Ni0.6Zn0.4Fe2O4/PANI can reach to −41dB at 12.8GHz and the bandwidth exceeding −10dB can reach to 5GHz with the absorber thickness of 2.6mm at the molar ratio of 1:2. This can be attributed to the enhancing magnetic loss and the better impedance matching. Therefore, Ni0.6Zn0.4Fe2O4/PANI ferrite composites can become a new kind of candidate in the field of the microwave absorbing.

Abstract:Fe3O4/PPy/PANI (Fe3O4/polypyrrole/polyaniline) nanocomposites with excellent microwave absorbing properties have been successfully synthesized and characterized systematically. In detail, Fe3O4 nanoparticles were prepared via an environmental friendly, modified co-precipitation method. Afterward, two conductive polymers, PPy and PANI, were deposited onto the surface of Fe3O4 nanoparticles by in-situ polymerization of pyrrole and aniline. PPy and PANI was “glued” by the strong affinity between the carbonyl groups of PPy and the conjugated chains of PANI. The obtained Fe3O4/PPy/PANI nanocomposites have been found to possess excellent microwave absorbing property with the absorption bandwidth of 10.7GHz (6.7–17.4GHz) and maximum reflection loss at 10.1GHz (−40.2dB). It proves that the combination of ultra-small Fe3O4 nanoparticles with two different conductive polymers have a great potential in the application of microwave absorbing materials.

Abstract:A novel CoFe2O4/C/PANI composite was synthesized based on abandoned pomelo peel.(2) The composite can be applied as an ideal EM wave absorber.(3) The effective absorption bandwidth reaches 8.88 GHz with the matching thickness of 2.5 mm.(4) The reaction and EM wave absorbing mechanism were studied in detail.To solve the electromagnetic pollution, herein, a CoFe2O4/C/PANI composite was developed by a green route, which was constructed with spinel of metal oxide, graphitized carbon and conductive polymer composites. Benefiting from the designable interfaces and increased dipoles, the microwave dielectric response capability can be boosted significantly and resulted in the enhanced microwave absorbing performance. As revealed by the reflection loss curve, the minimum reflection loss (RLmin) reached -51.81 dB at 12.4 GHz under a matched thickness of 2.57 mm. At 2.5 mm, the effective absorbing band covered 8.88 GHz, suggesting the desirable wideband feature. In our case, the method of utilization of a novel green way to fabricate multiple-component EM absorber can be a promising candidate for high-performance EM absorber.Download : Download high-res image (185KB)Download : Download full-size image

Core-shell PCIP/NiFe 2 O 4 /PANI composite: Preparation, characterization, and applications in microwave absorption

Abstract:Narrow absorption bandwidth is a common problem faced by current electromagnetic wave absorbing materials. Herein, a porous carbonyl iron/NiFe 2 O 4 /polyaniline-based wave absorbing composite material with wideband microwave absorption performance was designed by metal pitting technique, co-precipitation and in-situ polymerization. The results of SEM, XPD and XPS show that PCIP/NiFe 2 O 4 /PANI nanostructures were successfully synthesized. It is found that NiFe 2 O 4 /PANI agglomeration on the PCIP surface significantly enhances the electric loss capability of the composites. When the amount of PANI is 0.7 mL, the composite exhibits broad and strong absorbing properties, and a minimum reflection loss of −45.45 dB is obtained at 2.0 mm. The effective absorption bandwidth reaches 7.5 GHz when the matching thickness is only 2.0 mm. The synergistic effect of multiple absorbing mechanisms such as dipole polarization, interface polarization, conduction loss, natural resonance, exchange resonance and eddy current loss enables it to exhibit good wave absorption performance.

Abstract:It is well-known that the absorbing property of materials is related to the microstructure and can be enhanced by magnetic nanoparticles coating. However, the mechanism is still unclear that the magnetic coating structure plays an important role in the microwave absorption behavior. Hence, a novel kind of absorber with efficient performance and relatively clear enhancement mechanism is very necessary. To solve these problems, polyaniline@MoS2 nanowires (PANI@MoS2 NWs) and a series of polyaniline@MoS2@Fe3O4 nanowires (PANI@MoS2@Fe3O4 NWs) with hierarchical structure were successfully prepared by in situ polymerization and versatile hydrothermal reactions and investigated in microwave absorption. The results reveal that compared with the articles related to MoS2-based composites, the as-prepared PANI@MoS2@Fe3O4 NWs (e(2)) displays the widest absorption frequency range (6.48 GHz) and strong absorption (-49.7 dB at a thickness of 1.3 mm), and the excellent MAP can be interpreted by optimizing impedance matching and simultaneously inhibiting skin effect rather than only focusing on magnetic loss.
Synthesis and Microwave Absorption Performance of Fe3O4@PPy@PANI Composites

Abstract:Polypyrrole (PPy) was used to modify the surface of Fe3O4 nanoparticles which was prepared by solvothermal method. Polyaniline (PANI) was used to control the electromagnetic component of Fe3O4@PPy composites, and then Fe3O4@PPy@PANI composites with core-shell structure were successfully prepared. Modifying Fe3O4 nanoparticles with PPy made PANI easily coated on the surface of magnetic nano-particles, and the reasons for this phenomenon were discussed in this paper. The results of the electromagnetic performance analysis show that the minimum reflection loss (RLmin) reaches -39.2 dB when the mass ratio of aniline(An) to Fe3O4@ PPy is 1: 4. The bandwidth of reflection loss less than -10 dB is 4.6 GHz when the mass ratio of An to Fe3O4 @ PPy is 1: 2. The proportion of electromagnetic components have a greater impact on the microwave absorbing properties, which are also described in this article.
Preparation and Wave-absorbing Performance of PANI/Fe3O4/CB Hollow Structured Composites

Abstract:Polyaniline (PANI)/Fe3O4/carbon black (CB) microspheres with hollow-structure were synthesized through the method of interfacial polymerization and Pickering emulsion polymerization. The morphology, electromagnetic properties, and microwave absorbing properties of these materials were characterized. The results showed that the average diameter of these microspheres was about 2. 0 mu m. The magnetic loss within 2-4 GHz and within 4-18 GHz of these materials were mainly attributed to natural resonance and exchange resonance and to eddy current loss, respectively. In the measurement frequency range of 2-18 GHz, the microspheres with hollow-structure's minimum reflection loss (RL) shifted to low frequency with the increase of coating layer thickness. As the coating layer thickness increased to 5. 0 mm, two peaks occurred, which respectively located in C band(4-8 GHz) and Ku band(12-18 GHz). It was believed that PANI/Fe3O4/CB could be a potential electromagnetic wave absorbing materialin C and Ku bands.

Abstract:Fe3O4-reduced graphene oxide-polyaniline (Fe3O4–RGO–PANI) ternary electromagnetic wave absorbing materials were prepared by in situ polymerization of aniline monomer on the surface of Fe3O4–RGO nanocomposites. The morphology, structure and other physical properties of the nanocomposites were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, vibration sample magnetism, etc. The electromagnetic wave absorbing properties of composite materials were measured by using a vector network analyzer. The PANI–Fe3O4–RGO nanocomposites demonstrated that the maximum reflection loss was −36.5 dB at 7.4 GHz with a thickness of 4.5 mm and the absorption bandwidth with the reflection loss below −10 dB was up to 12.0 GHz with a thickness in the range of 2.5–5.0 mm, suggesting that the microwave absorption properties and the absorption bandwidth were greatly enhanced by coating with polyaniline (PANI). The strong absorption characteristics of PANI–Fe3O4–RGO ternary composites indicated their potential application as the electromagnetic wave absorbing material.
Enhanced microwave absorption property of epoxy nanocomposites based on PANI@Fe3O4@CNFs nanoparticles with three- phase heterostructure

Abstract:Novel electromagnetic functionalized carbon nanofibers (CNFs) have been synthesized by coating with Fe3O4 magnetite nanoparticles and conducting polymers polyaniline (PANI) on CNFs through a layer by layer assembly. The Fe3O4@CNFs were first prepared by coating nano-Fe3O4 particles on CNFs via co-precipitation method; Then the PANI was coated on Fe3O4@CNFs using an in situ polymerization process to obtain PANI@Fe3O4@CNFs nanoparticles. The prepared PANI@Fe3O4@CNFs nanoparticles were dispersed in the epoxy matrix to fabricate microwave absorbing nanocomposites. Compared with the Fe3O4@CNFs/epoxy nanocomposites, the PANI@Fe3O4@CNFs/epoxy nanocomposites exhibit better microwave absorbing properties. The composite containing 15 wt% of PANI@Fe3O4@CNFs with the thickness of 2mm showed a minimum reflection loss (RL) value of-23.7 dB with an effective absorption bandwidth which is about 3.7 GHz (11.9-15.6 GHz) in the frequency range of 1-18 GHz, indicating that it is an attractive candidate for efficient microwave absorber. Apotential absorption mechanism was proposed for enhancement of the impedance-matching condition and electromagnetic wave-attenuation characteristic of materials. Specifically, the impedance-matching condition was improved by the combination of conductive polymers and magnetic nanoparticles with CNFs. The electromagnetic wave attenuation characteristic was enhanced by multiple reflections, due to the increased propagation paths.
One Pot Self-Assembling Fe@PANI Core–Shell Nanowires for Radar Absorption Application

Abstract:The one-pot process, which combines the polymerization of polyaniline (i.e., PANI) with subsequent reduction of iron nanowire (i.e., Fe NW) under a magnetic field, was developed to produce Fe@PANI core–shell nanowires. The synthesized nanowires with various PANI additions (0–30 wt.%) were characterized and used as microwave absorbers. Epoxy composites with 10 wt.% absorbers were prepared and examined using the coaxial method to reveal their microwave absorbing performance. Experimental results showed that the Fe NWs with PANI additions (0–30 wt.%) had average diameters ranging from 124.72 to 309.73 nm. As PANI addition increases, the α-Fe phase content and the grain size decrease, while the specific surface area increases. The nanowire-added composites exhibited superior microwave absorption performance with wide effective absorption bandwidths. Among them, Fe@PANI-90/10 exhibits the best overall microwave absorption performance. With a thickness of 2.3 mm, effective absorption bandwidth was the widest and reached 3.73 GHz, ranging from 9.73 to 13.46 GHz. Whereas with a thickness of 5.4 mm, Fe@PANI-90/10 reached the best reflection loss of −31.87 dB at 4.53 GHz.

PANI/FeCo@C Composite Microspheres with Broadband Microwave Absorption Performance

Abstract:Composite microwave absorbers with multiple loss mechanism have attracted more and more attention. Herein, we report a strategy of step-by-step synthesis of polyaniline (PANI)/FeCo@C composite microspheres by hydrothermal, calcination and in-situ polymerization. The multilayer heterogeneous interfaces of microspheres and the multi dipole center of polyaniline molecular chain significantly improve the polarization relaxation loss. Polyaniline on the surface connects the microspheres to form a conductive network, which effectively enhances the conduction loss. FeCo alloy particles also provide a certain magnetic loss. Their synergistic effect makes the composite microspheres exhibit good microwave absorption performance. When the thickness of P2 is only 1.7 mm, it could exhibit an effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 5.31 GHz and maximum reflection loss (RL) of -33.86 dB. Moreover, we optimized the macro structure of the absorber through gradient design, and successfully extended the effective absorption bandwidth to 11.81 GHz by introducing multiple interference. This work provides a useful reference for the comprehensive optimization of micro regulation and macro design of composite microwave absorbers.
Fabrication and microwave absorption performances of cotton fiber@polyaniline composite

Abstract:In this paper,cotton fiber@polyaniline (CF@PANI)composite was prepared by in situ polymerization with cotton fiber as template.And then magnetic CF@PANI composite was prepared by physical adsorption Fe3 O4 nanoparticles.Using scanning electron microscope (SEM),RTS-9 constant-voltage four-point,Fourier infrared spectrometer (FT-IR)and vector network analyzer (VNA),the morphology,structures and electro-magnetic performance of the composites were characterized.The results show that HCl-doped polyaniline can be evenly coated on the surface of cotton fiber,and the optimum conductivity is 0.23 S/cm.The magnetic CF@PANI composites keep the original structure of the cotton fiber.When the weight ratio of Fe3 O4 to CF@PANI is 1:1 and the match thickness is 2 mm,the minimum reflection loss value reaches -18.57 dB at 18.00 GHz. When the match thickness is 1.5 mm,the absorption bandwidths with the reflection loss blow -10 dB is 4.88 GHz.So the magnetic CF@PANI composites have potential application prospect in the field of electromag-netic absorption.
A Facile Route Preparation of Fe3O4/MWCNT/ZnO/PANI Nanocomposite and its Characterization for Enhanced Microwave Absorption Properties

Abstract:Fe3O4/MWCNT/ZnO/PANI nanocomposite exhibited promising microwave absorption properties, with a minimum reflection loss (RL) of ‐32.66 dB for the nanocomposite containing 37.50% PANI by weight, and a maximum electromagnetic bandwidth (EB) of 2.26 GHz for the nanocomposite containing 44.44% PANI by weight. With increasing concerns regarding the potential health risks associated with microwave‐based technology, researchers have been actively investigating materials with impressive microwave absorption properties. In this study, a synthesis and investigation of a nanocomposite, named Fe3O4/MWCNT/ZnO/PANI, consisting of magnetite (Fe3O4), multi‐walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT), zinc oxide (ZnO), and polyaniline (PANI) as a microwave‐absorbing material, was carried out for the first time. The nanocomposite was prepared through a simple physical mixing approach and demonstrated tunable microwave absorption, making it highly suitable for shielding applications. Structural analysis techniques, including X‐ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy with energy‐dispersive X‐ray analysis (SEM‐EDAX), confirmed the presence of all components in the nanocomposite. Moreover, ultraviolet‐visible spectroscopy (UV‐Vis) further verified the formation of nanocomposite components and revealed an adjustable optical bandgap ranging from 2.86 to 3.34 eV. Impressively, the nanocomposite exhibited promising microwave absorption properties, with a minimum reflection loss (RL) of −32.66 dB for the nanocomposite containing 37.50 % PANI by weight, and a maximum electromagnetic bandwidth (EB) of 2.26 GHz for the nanocomposite containing 44.44 % PANI by weight, indicating its potential as an effective shielding material. Furthermore, a modified theory combining transmission line, Landau‐Lifshits, and Drude‐Lorentz theories was introduced to extract complex relative permittivity and permeability, providing insights into the role of polyaniline in enhancing the microwave absorption properties of the nanocomposite as measured by reflection loss (RL).

Preparation and properties of PANI/PI composite fabrics with conductive nanofiber network structure

Abstract:Electrically conductive polyaniline (PANI)/polyimide (PI) composite fabric was prepared by in situ polymerized aniline on PI fabric in the acid solution using ammonium persulfate as the oxidant. PANI nanoflowers and nanofibers was obtained on the surface of PI fabric by controlling the molar ratio of aniline/oxidant and the acidity of the polymerization solution. Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) results demonstrated that a continuous PANI nanofiber network with an average fiber diameter of 80–100 nm was successfully constructed on PI fabric when the doping acid was HNO3, the aniline to oxidant molar ratio was 4:5, and the pH value was 2.32. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis indicated that the PANI nanofibers was combined on PI fabric through hydrogen bonding. The conductivity of the composite fabric was 0.53 S/m, the contact angle of the composite fabric was increased from 50.6° to 84.7° due to the uniform nanofiber network structure, and the decomposition temperature (Td) of the composite fabrics was beyond 580.0 °C. Remarkably, the prepared PANI/PI composite fabric exhibited excellent electromagnetic wave absorption features (reflection loss of −57.99 dB), which implied it could be a good candidate for the electromagnetic wave absorbing materials.

Abstract:Expanded graphite/polyaniline (EG/PANI) composites were synthesized by in. situ polymerization, and EG/PANI/Fe3O4 composites were obtained by adsorbing Fe3O4 nanoparticles on the surface of EG/PANI composites. The surface morphologies, phase structures and microwave absorption properties were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and vector network analyzer (VNA). The results showed that when the HCl concentration was 0.05 mol/L, the RLmin reached -37 dB at 8.64 GHz with the thickness of d = 2 mm. With the increase of doping concentration, the minimum reflection loss peak moved to low frequency, and the matching thickness became thicker. The dielectric relaxation polarization, eddy current loss and interference cancellation phenomenon of lambda/4 model played the important role in the process of absorption. The double peaks made EG/PANI/Fe3O4 composites possible in the microwave absorption.

Abstract:By using chemical oxidative polymerization method, ferriferrous oxide/polyaniline (Fe3O4/PANI) composites are successfully synthesized. The composites are characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), and vector network analyzer (VNA). With the amount of Fe3O4 increase, the saturation magnetization and remnant magnetization of Fe3O4/PANI composites decrease, while the coercivity remains unchanged. The addition of Fe3O4 makes the reflection loss (RL) of Fe3O4/PANI composites decreases and the microwave absorption increases.

Abstract:Microwave absorbing BaFe12O19/Ni0.5Mn0.5Fe2O4@PANI core‐shell nanocomposites. In this paper, BaFe12O19/Ni0.5Mn0.5Fe2O4@PANI core‐shell nanocomposites were synthesized with different ferrite/PANI ratios. The Ferrite nanoparticles were prepared by the auto‐combustion sol–gel method. Chemical oxidative polymerization of aniline in acidic solution along with adding ferrite nanoparticles to the composition was used for the synthesis of nanocomposites. The product then was studied by X‐ray diffractometer)XRD(, field emission scanning electron microscope (FE‐SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analyses. The magnetic properties of samples were investigated with vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). Also, nanocomposite samples were examined in terms of the ability to absorb microwaves. Using Vector Network Analyzer (VNA). the reflection loss (RL) of nanocomposites was measured at frequencies between 2 and 18 GHz. The minimum reflection loss (RLmin) was obtained at −36.98 dB at the frequency of 13.8 GHz with an effective absorption bandwidth of 4.87 GHz for the sample with the equal ratio of ferrite/PANI. Synthesized nanocomposite as an effective compound has very high reflection loss in a wide frequency range. Highlights Thermal stability is improved by adding ferrite nanoparticles to polyaniline. The polymer shell reduces the magnetic properties of ferrite nanoparticles. There is a strong exchange coupling between hard and soft ferrite. Ferrite/polymer ratio of 1:1 has the lowest amount of reflection loss. In the X and Ku band, magnetic loss is mainly caused by eddy currents.
