Abstract:A linear Gr-category is a category of finite-dimensional vector spaces graded by a finite group together with the natural tensor product. We classify the braided monoidal structures of a class of linear Gr-categories via explicit computations of the normalized 3-cocycles and the quasi-bicharacters of finite abelian groups which are direct product of two cyclic groups.

Abstract:In this work, for a finite group $G$ and a 4-cocycle $\omega \in Z^4(G,\mathbf{k}^\times)$, we compute explicitly the center of the monoidal bicategory $\operatorname{2Vec}_G^{\omega}$ of $\omega$-twisted $G$-graded 1-categories of finite dimensional $\mathbf{k}$-vector spaces. We show that this center is a braided monoidal bicategory with a trivial Müger center. It turns out that, even in this simple case, we need go beyond semi-strict setting and consider the most general definition of a braided monoidal bicategory. This center gives a precise mathematical description of the topological defects in the associated 3+1D Dijkgraaf-Witten TQFT.

Abstract:Considering the monoidal category $\mathcal{C}$ obtained as modules over a Hopf algebra $H$ in a rigid braided category $\mathcal{B}$, we prove decomposition results for the Hochschild and cyclic homology categories $HH(\mathcal{C})$ and $HC(\mathcal{C})$ of $\mathcal{C}$. This is accomplished by defining a notion of a (stable) anti-Yetter-Drinfeld module with coefficients in a (stable) braided module over $\mathcal{B}$. When the stable braided module is $HH(\mathcal{B})$, we recover $HH(\mathcal{C})$ and $HC(\mathcal{C})$. The decomposition of $HC(\mathcal{C})$ now follows from that of $HH(\mathcal{B})$.

Abstract:In this work, for a finite group G and a 4-cocycle omega is an element of Z(4)(G, k(x)), we compute explicitly the center of the monoidal 2-category 2Vec(G)(omega) of omega-twisted G-graded 1-categories of finite dimensional k-vector spaces. This center gives a precise mathematical description of the topological defects in the associated 3+1D Dijkgraaf-Witten TQFT. Graded Lie structure on cohomology of some exact monoidal categories

Abstract:For some exact monoidal categories, we describe explicitly a connection between topological and algebraic definitions of the Lie bracket on the extension algebra of the unit object. The topological definition, due to Schwede and Hermann, involves loops in extension categories. The algebraic definition, due to the first author, involves homotopy liftings of maps. As a consequence of our description, we prove that the topological definition indeed yields a Gerstenhaber algebra structure in this monoidal category setting. This answers a question of Hermann for those exact monoidal categories in which the unit object has a particular type of resolution that is called power flat. For use in proofs, we generalize $A_{\infty}$-coderivation and homotopy lifting techniques from bimodule categories to these exact monoidal categories.

Abstract:As a sequel to [Duan-Shu-Yao], we introduce here a category $\mathscr{LC}$ arising from the BGG category $\mathcal{O}$ defined in [Duan-Shu-Yao] for Lie algebras of polynomial vector fields. The objects of $\mathscr{LC}$ are so-called Lie-Cartan modules which admit both Lie-module structure and compatible $R$-module structure ($R$ denotes the corresponding polynomial ring). This terminology is natural, coming from affine connections in differential geometry through which the structure sheaves in topology and the vector fields in geometry are integrated for differential manifolds.

Local Modules in Braided Monoidal 2-Categories

Abstract:Given an algebra in a monoidal 2-category, one can construct a 2-category of right modules. Given a braided algebra in a braided monoidal 2-category, it is possible to refine the notion of right module to that of a local module. Under mild assumptions, we prove that the 2-category of local modules admits a braided monoidal structure. In addition, if the braided monoidal 2-category has duals, we go on to show that the 2-category of local modules also has duals. Furthermore, if it is a braided fusion 2-category, we establish that the 2-category of local modules is a braided multifusion 2-category. We examine various examples. For instance, working within the 2-category of 2-vector spaces, we find that the notion of local module recovers that of braided module 1-category. Finally, we examine the concept of a Lagrangian algebra, that is a braided algebra with trivial 2-category of local modules. In particular, we completely describe Lagrangian algebras in the Drinfeld centers of fusion 2-categories, and we discuss how this result is related to the classifications of topological boundaries of (3+1)d topological phases of matter.

A braided monoidal $(\infty,2)$-category of Soergel bimodules

Abstract:The Hecke algebras for all symmetric groups taken together form a braided monoidal category that controls all quantum link invariants of type A and, by extension, the standard canon of topological quantum field theories in dimension 3 and 4. Here we provide the first categorification of this Hecke braided monoidal category, which takes the form of an $\mathbb{E}_2$-monoidal $(\infty,2)$-category whose hom-$(\infty,1)$-categories are $k$-linear, stable, idempotent-complete, and equipped with $\mathbb{Z}$-actions. This categorification is designed to control homotopy-coherent link homology theories and to-be-constructed topological quantum field theories in dimension 4 and 5.

Abstract:Let (H,alpha) and (B,beta) be two monoidal Hom-Hopf algebras. We introduce the notion of a generalized Hom-Long dimodule and show that the category L-B(H) of generalized Hom-Long dimodules is an autonomous category. We prove that L-B(H) is a braided monoidal category if (H,alpha) is quasitriangular and (B,beta) is coquasitriangular, and we show that L-B(H) is a subcategory of the Hom-Yetter-Drinfeld category (H circle times BHYD)-H-H circle times B. Moreover, we prove that the category of Hom-modules (resp., Hom-comodules) over a triangular (resp., cotriangular) Hom-Hopf algebra contains a symmetric generalized Hom-Long dimodule category.

Abstract:In pointed braided fusion categories knowing the self-symmetry braiding of simples is theoretically enough to reconstruct the associator and braiding on the entire category (up to twisting by a braided monoidal auto-equivalence). We address the problem to provide explicit associator formulas given only such input. This problem was solved by Quinn in the case of finitely many simples. We reprove and generalize this in various ways. In particular, we show that extra symmetries of Quinn's associator can still be arranged to hold in situations where one has infinitely many isoclasses of simples.

Abstract:We construct projective covers of irreducible V -modules in the category of grading-restricted generalized V -modules when V is a vertex operator algebra satisfying the following conditions: 1. V is C 1 -cofinite in the sense of Li. 2. There exists a positive integer N such that the differences between the real parts of the lowest conformal weights of irreducible V -modules are bounded by N and such that the associative algebra A N ( V ) is finite dimensional. This result shows that the category of grading-restricted generalized V -modules is a finite abelian category over C . Using the existence of projective covers, we prove that if such a vertex operator algebra V also satisfies Condition 3 that irreducible V -modules are R -graded and C 1 -cofinite in the sense of the author, then the category of grading-restricted generalized V -modules is closed under operations ⧅ P ( z ) for z ∈ C × . We also prove that other conditions for applying the logarithmic tensor product theory developed by Lepowsky, Zhang and the author hold. Consequently, for such V , this category has a natural structure of braided tensor category. In particular, when V is of positive energy and C 2 -cofinite, Conditions 1–3 are satisfied and thus all the conclusions hold.

Non-vanishing of Ceresa and Gross--Kudla--Schoen cycles associated to modular curves

Abstract:Given an algebraic curve $X$ of genus $\ge 3$, one can construct two algebraic $1$-cycles, the Ceresa cycle and the Gross-Kudla-Schoen modified diagonal cycle, each living in the Jacobian of $X$ and the triple product $X \times X \times X$ respectively. These two cycles are homologically trivial but are of infinite order in their corresponding Chow groups for a very general curve over $\mathbb{C}$. From the work of S-W Zhang, for a fixed curve these two cycles are non-torsion in their corresponding Chow groups if and only if one of them is. In this paper, we prove that the Ceresa and Gross-Kudla-Schoen cycles associated to a modular curve $X$ are non-torsion in the corresponding Chow groups when $X=\Gamma \backslash \overline{\mathbb{H}}$ for certain congruence subgroups $\Gamma\subset {\rm SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})$. We obtain the result by studying a pullback formula for special divisors by the diagonal map $X \hookrightarrow X \times X$.

Abstract:We define a class of monoidal categories whose morphisms are diagrams, and which are enhancements and generalisations of the Brauer category obtained by adjoining infinitesimal braids, "coupons" and poles. Properties of these categories are explored, particularly diagrammatic equations. We construct functors from certain of them to categories of representations of Lie algebras and superalgebras. Applications include a diagrammatic construction of the centre of the universal enveloping superalgebra and certain "characteristic identities", as well as an analysis of certain tensor representations. We show how classical diagram categories arising in invariant theory are special cases of our constructions, placing them in a single unified framework.

Braided Hochschild cohomology and Hopf actions

Abstract:We show that the braided Hochschild cohomology, of an algebra in a suitably algebraic braided monoidal category, admits a graded ring structure under which it is braided commutative. We then give a canonical identification between the usual Hochschild cohomology ring of a smash product and the (derived) invariants of its braided Hochschild cohomology ring. We apply our results to identify the associative formal deformation theory of a smash product with its formal deformation theory as a module algebra over the given Hopf algebra (when the Hopf algebra is sufficiently semisimple). As a second application we deduce some structural results for the usual Hochschild cohomology of a smash product, and discuss specific implications for finite group actions on smooth affine schemes.

Derived Braids of Decreasing Products and their Categories

Abstract:Derived braids have been used to classify categorical structures based on the braid underlying a braided monoidal category V. With four-strand braids underlying the composition morphisms of tensor products of categories enriched over V, equality of derived braids has been seen to correspond with the results of Joyal and Street on coherence for braided monoidal categories, namely that diagrams commute when the braids underlying the legs of the diagram are equal. Equality of derived braids can then be seen as a generalization of the Yang-Baxter equation that appears in the work of Joyal and Street. The main result is a proof that decreasing products, which are braids formed from component braids with even numbers of strands, have equivalent derived braids. Plans for future work include interpreting what categorical structures correspond to decreasing products.

Abstract:Let C be a finite braided multitensor category. Then the end B = fX is an element of C X circle times X* is natural a Hopf algebra in C. We show that the Drinfeld center of C is isomorphic to the category of left B- comodules in C, and the decomposition of B into a direct sum of indecomposable C-subcoalgebras leads to a decomposition of B-Comod C into a direct sum of indecomposable C-module subcategories.As an application, we present an explicit characterization of the structure of irreducible Yetter-Drinfeld modules over semisimple and cosemisimple quasi-triangular weak Hopf algebras. Abstract:We first introduce the notion of Doi Hom-Hopf modules and find the sufficient condition for the category of Doi Hom-Hopf modules to be monoidal. Also we obtain the condition for the monoidal Hom-algebra and monoidal Hom-coalgebra to be monoidal Hom-bialgebras. Second, we give the maps between the underlying monoidal Hom-Hopf algebras, Hom-comodule algebras and Hom-module coalgebras give rise to functors between the category of Doi Hom-Hopf modules and study tensor identities for monodial categories of Doi Hom-Hopf modules. Furthermore, we construct a braiding on the category of Doi Hom-Hopf modules. Finally, as an application of our theory, we consider the braiding on the category of Hom-modules, the category of Hom-comodules and the category of Hom-Yetter-Drinfeld modules respectively.
