Abstract:Five genera and 13 species are reported here from China that are considered members of the Anaphothrips genus-group (Thripidae:Thripinae ),including two new species of this group,namely Anaphothrips beijingensis sp.n.and Chilothrips jiuxiensis sp.n.,are described and illustrated.A key is provided for identifying these 5 genera with comments on each genus and its species.The yellow morph of the male (adult) of Anaphothrips sudanensis Trybom is newly recorded from China.

Abstract:Historical, nomenclatural, technical, and biological problems associated with the 42 species of Mesothrips are discussed. Type specimens have been re-examined of 14 of the 25 species that were described prior to 1930 and remain known only from imperfectly slide-mounted specimens. As a result, seven new synonyms are recognised. From China, six species of Mesothrips have been listed, but the records of M. alluaudi and M. manii are rejected, and three new species are described: M. jianfengi sp. nov. , M. longistylus sp. nov. , and M. vernicia sp. nov. These three species are divergent from other members of Mesothrips in lacking a prominent fore tarsal tooth and may indicate a possible generic relationship to the flower-living species in the Asian genus Dolichothrips . An illustrated key is provided to the seven Mesothrips species now known from China.

Abstract:A new checklist of Thysanoptera from China (including Taiwan) is provided. In total 566 species in 155 genera are listed, of which there are 313 species in the suborder Terebrantia, comprising 290 species in 74 genera in family Thripidae, 18 species in three genera in Aeolothripidae, two species in one genus in Melanthripidae and three species in one genus in Merothripidae. In the suborder Tubulifera 253 species in 76 genera are listed in the single family Phlaeothripidae. Two species, Aeolothrips collaris and Odontothrips meliloti, are newly recorded for the fauna of China.

Abstract:Species of the Holartic genus Odontothrips Amyot & Serville (Thripidae: Thripinae) usually breed in the flowers of Fabaceae. Some species cause slight damage to Fabaceae crops (Pitkin 1972), and O. confusus Priesner sometimes produces high populations on alfalfa in Iran (Mirab-balou et al. 2013). The genus includes 31 species in the world (ThripsWiki 2013), of which four have been recorded from Iran (Mirab-balou and Chen 2011). Recently an undescribed species of Odontothrips was collected on flowers of alfalfa, and this is described below. Type specimens are deposited in the collection of Department of Plant Protection, College of Agriculture, Ilam University, Iran (ILAMU); and in the Insect Collection, Department of Entomology, South China Agricultural University, China (SCAU). Abstract:The known species richness of oak gallwasps in Asia has increased tremendously in the past decade. However, the vast majority of taxa have been described from the east coast of Asia, and knowledge of oak gallwasps from Central Asia is still scant. Here we use molecular and morphological characters to describe a new genus of cynipid oak gallwasp, Heocynips Fang, Nieves-Alclrey, and Melika, new genus (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae: Cynipini), and a new species Heocynos furvoaurantius Tang, Nicholls, and Stone, new species from Emeishan, Sichuan Province, China. We present diagnostic characters for the new genus, including adult morphology and DNA sequence data, and provide biological information on host plant association, gall morphology and developmental phenology for the new species.

Abstract:Species of the genus Franklinothrips Back are predators and ant-mimics, with the first two abdominal segments narrow and sometimes pale (Mound & Marullo, 1996), and an illustrated identification key to the 15 known species was provided by Mound & Reynaud (2005). A further new species was described recently from northern India (Vijay Veer, 2010), and these species have been found in the tropical areas of Asia, Africa, Central and South America, the Caribbean, Australia, and the southern United States. Previous studies on the genus include a key to six species from North America (Stannard, 1952), a key to six New World species (Mound & Marullo, 1996), and to two species from Europe (zur Strassen, 2003). From the Oriental region, species have also been described by Okajima (1997), and Reyes (1994).

Abstract:The species of Fopius Wharton, 1987 in China are studied, and three new species are described: F. mystrium sp. nov., F. oxoestos, sp. nov. and F. spanistriae, sp. nov. and one newly recorded species, F. denticulifer (van Achterberg and Maet(o), 1990), is reported. This genus is reported from the mainland China for the first time.

Abstract:Three new species of the genus Oecleopsis Emeljanov, 1971 from China, O. acerbus Lv & Chen, sp. nov. and O. panxianensis Lv & Chen, sp. nov. from Guizhou Province, and O. digitatus Lv & Chen, sp. nov. from Sichuan Province, are described and illustrated. With these additions, the number of species in the genus is increased to 18. An updated identification key and checklist of all known species of Oecleopsis are provided as well as a map of their geographic distributions.

Abstract:The 250 species of the second largest genus of Thysanoptera, Liothrips, are known as feeding mainly on green leaves, with many inducing galls or associated with galls. In China, 33 species are recognized including L. brevis sp. n., L. elongatus sp. n., L. longistylus sp. n., L. motuoensis sp. n., L. piceae sp. n., L. populi sp. n. and L. tibetanus sp. n., also seven species are recorded from this country for the first time. Four Han’s Liothrips species are considered as new synonymies of L. vaneeckei that might be widespread in the Holarctic region. Three species are newly combined as Liothrips aporosae comb.n., Teuchothrips fuscus comb.n. and T. turkestanicus comb.n. The illustrated identification key to Chinese Liothrips species excludes L. hsuae but includes L. mirabilis due to its potential as a pest of Piper plants are growing throughout Southern China. Biology, structural variation, and generic relationships are also discussed.

Abstract:Two new species of the genus Sphingonotus Fieber, 1852, namely Sphingonotus taiwanensis sp. nov. and Sphingonotus zhongningensis sp. nov. are described in this paper from China. The new species Sphingonotus taiwanensis sp. nov. is similar to Sphingonotus nebulosus (Fiescher-Waldheim, 1846), but differs from the latter by interspace of mesosternum wider, width 1.8 times the length; hind femur pale red on inner side; hind tibia pale red, with 13 spines on inner side and 10 spines on outer side; hind wing pale yellow at base. The new species Sphingonotus zhongningensis sp. nov. is similar to Sphingonotus salinus (Pallas, 1773), but differs from the latter in: vertical diameter of eye 1.3 times horizontal diameter; metazona of pronotum is 2.0 times prozona in length; hind tibiae with 13 spines on inner side and 12 spines on outer side; black band of hind wing wider in the middle, apical part not narrowed; black band of hind wing in the apical part larger, not divided into two.The type specimens are deposited in the Taiwan Agricultural Research of Institute (TARI), Taichung Taiwan, China and in the College of Plant Protection, China Agricultural University, Beijing, China respectively.

Abstract:Two new species of the genus Eotmethis Bey-Bienko, 1948, namely Eotmethis xiai sp. nov., and Eotmethis platyverticus sp. nov. from the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Gansu province are described in this paper. The new species Eotmethis xiai sp. nov. is allied to E. recipennis Xi & Zheng, 1986, but differs from latter by the vertical diameter of eye about 1.2 times as long as horizontal diameter, prozona of pronotum equal to metazona, tegmina of female shorter, reaching 2nd abdominal tergite only. The new species Eotmethis platyverticus sp. nov. is allied to E. holanennis Zheng & Gow, 1981, but differs from latter by width of vertex between eyes 2 times diameter of eye and prozona of pronotum longer than metazoan in female. The type specimens are deposited in College of Life Sciences, Hebei University, Baoding, China.
