Abstract:Marine information gathering, transmission, processing, and fusion play an important role in many areas, such as marine science research, environmental expedition, resource exploitation, and security and defense. Owing to its specific application environment, it has also become a popular information science research area. Like other branches of information science, the development of marine information technology over the last thirty years has benefited significantly from advances and achievements in general information theory. However, the manner in which it highlights the close bonding among propagation physics, signal processing, and the marine environment is seldom seen in other areas. This paper first gives a comprehensive overview of the current status of the theory and methods used in surface target acquisition, underwater target recognition, underwater communications and sea-air integrated information transmission, oceanic remote sensing, and data processing and information fusion. Subsequently, with the aim of helping to advance fundamental research on marine information important scientific problems to be addressed are presented.

Abstract:Marine electronics technology is a special branch of electronic technique application, because of its unique problems in application environment,energy supply,long-distance communication and information security issues. Marine electronics technology can't be improved by drawing lessons from other electronics technologies. Marine electronics technology hasn't been paid enough attention in our country, and a big technology gay was generated between Chinese marine research and international advanced level. This fell behind situation of our country should be changed by treating the marine electronics technology as an independent discipline. In this paper, we expound the research significance, development direction and implementation strategy of marine electronics technology. For speeding up this technology's development and enhancing the ocean exploitation ability in our country,some proposals are put forward.

Abstract:Underwater positioning and navigation is a technology that provides the attitude, speed, position and other information of underwater robots. It is the premise for underwater robots to successfully complete various underwater tasks. The underwater environment is complex and changeable, and a single positioning and navigation technology will inevitably not meet the needs of long-range, multi-target and high-precision. The navigation system of the future underwater intelligent robot integrates the integrated navigation mode of various technologies. This paper discusses the basic underwater positioning and navigation mode and integrated navigation mode, describes the development process of underwater positioning and navigation technology, compares the research methods and progress of Chinese and foreign scholars, analyzes the current research bottlenecks and technical difficulties, and points out the direction for future research, which can be used as a reference for the follow-up research of underwater robot positioning and navigation system.

Abstract:Ocean observation networks with isolated and fragmented sensor data are not able to meet the demands of current ocean monitoring.Marine internet of things (IoT), which has the advantage of low investment cost, low power consumption, and interconnection is the primary research direction in the area of ocean information.An overview of the development and status of ocean observation networks was presented.A new type of marine IoT system architecture was proposed based on the Zhejiang University - Zhairuoshan Experimental Research Observatory (Z2ERO).It features key marine IoT devices and test platforms, including scientific instrument interface module, hydroacoustic communicators, narrow-band IoT floating balls, seafloor test platforms, and portable acoustic retrievers.Future marine IoT is expected to develop toward miniaturization, intelligence, and diversity of communication methods.With the support of the terrestrial internet, the internet of everything will be achieved through an integrated space-air-ground-sea network.

Abstract:The prerequisite for underwater vehicles to accomplish various underwater tasks is to obtain real-time position information about themselves in the underwater environment using internal or external sensors, which is known as underwater positioning and navigation technology. This paper presents a general review of underwater vehicle positioning and navigation technology and illustrates the importance of underwater terrain-aided navigation technology. It also summarizes its general structure and describes the principles and functions of each component. The paper mainly analyzes various mainstream methods applied to underwater terrain-aided navigation, focuses on terrain suitability analysis and terrain matching algorithms, which play a central role in the analysis. Additionally, the research progress of terrain-aided navigation technology is described, and the research methods of terrain suitability analysis, terrain matching navigation, and the latest technology applications are compared. Some shortcomings of the current underwater terrain-aided navigation technology are presented, and future research directions are foreseen to provide a basis for subsequent research.

Abstract:Underwater terrain-aided navigation (TAN) can obtain high-precision positioning independently and autonomously under the conditions of a communication rejection space, which is an important breakthrough for the autonomous and refined operation of deep-sea autonomous underwater vehicles near the seabed. Although TAN originated in the aviation field, the particularity of the underwater physical environment has led to the formation of a different theoretical and technical system. In this article, the application background, operating principles, and most important technical aspects of underwater TAN are introduced. Then, the relevant algorithms involved in the two main modules (the terrain-aided positioning module and the iterative filtering estimation module) of the underwater TAN are reviewed. Finally, other cutting-edge issues in the field of underwater TAN are summarized. The purpose of this article is to provide researchers with a comprehensive understanding of the current research status and possible future developments in the TAN field.

Abstract:Operational deep-sea manned submersibles are important underwater vehicles that provide strong technical support for international deep-sea research. Navigation and positioning technologies are expected to facilitate the complete exploitation of the scientific value of samples and data collected by such submersibles, improve their underwater operation efficiency and enhance their safety. This paper first briefly describes six operational deep-sea manned submersibles that can dive to depths of more than 4,500 m. Then, the paper focuses on the navigation and positioning technologies used in these submersibles. Finally, considering the existing problems in the navigation and positioning systems of China's manned submersible Jiaolong , the paper discusses future development trends of the navigation and positioning technologies used in operational deep-sea manned submersibles.

Abstract:High-quality CPNT is a key technology for deep-sea vehicles that dive into the deep sea and for detecting and developing the deep sea. At present, however, CPNT services for deep-sea vehicles are provided by separate communication, positioning, and navigation systems as well as separate synchronous clocks (atomic clocks). This directly affects the operational efficiency, for example, update rates of up to 0.125 Hz, of deep-sea vehicles engaged in deep-sea scientific research, environmental investigation, and resource development. Therefore, a new design method and operating mode of CPNT is proposed herein to overcome the inherent flaws of the current communication/positioning/navigation modes of deep-sea vehicles; meet the actual demands of deep-sea vehicles in real time; achieve high update rates, low power consumption, and high precision positioning and navigation; and to be combined with the current development trends. The integration of CPNT can both unify time and space references, and reduce the difficulty of multi-sensor information fusion. Thus, the problems of poor navigation and the non-timing functions of deep-sea vehicles can be solved fundamentally. The integration of CPNT will improve the navigation and positioning accuracy as well as the information update rate (up to 1 Hz) of large deep-sea vehicles, such as deepsea human-occupied vehicles, deep-sea remotely operated underwater vehicles, and deep-sea autonomous underwater vehicles.

Abstract:With the implementation of national marine strategy,economic activities such as maritime transport,marine resource exploitation become increasingly important,and the demand for maritime communications keeps growing.Although the terrestrial cellular network had entered the 5G era,existing maritime communications still mainly rely on marine satellites and shore-based base stations,which are far from meeting the demand in terms of communication rate,delay and reliability.The future 6G networks are expected to offer satellite-air-ground-sea full coverage.However,due to complex maritime environments and heterogeneous marine services,the 6G maritime communication networks still face unique challenges.After summarizing the current developing status of maritime communications,related key technologies were surveied from three aspects:transmission efficiency,network coverage,and information service.For the future development of 6G intelligent maritime communication networks,the technical methods and research directions of maritime environment-aware intelligent transmission,coordinated satellite-terrestrial dynamic networking and service-driven resource allocation were prospected.

Abstract:This paper summarizes the requirements for modern maritime wireless communication networks in the marine environments including the sea-to-sea and sea-to-shore communication scenarios. The existing maritime wireless communication systems are presented and the development of the state-of-the-art maritime communication systems is surveyed. Furthermore, a hierarchical and integrated maritime network architecture is proposed to satisfy the increasing various classes of services which demand different Quality of Service (QoS). Finally, the open issues for further development of maritime communications are identified.

Abstract:Marine transportation equipment is the basic support to build a strong marine country. To promote the marine, manufacturing, and transportation sectors, China needs to accelerate the technological innovation and high-quality industrial development of marine transportation equipment. This study aims at the future development of China’s marine transportation equipment technology and industry. First, the demands of marine transportation equipment were proposed for future markets, marine scientific research, marine resource development, and green intelligent technology. Then the technology and industry status of the world’s marine transportation equipment were analyzed from the aspects of higher education, scientific research, general design and assembly, information and communication equipment, as well as power and electromechanical equipment. Meanwhile, the world’s advanced technologies of marine transportation equipment were summarized. Next, the technological capabilities and industrial status of China’s marine transportation equipment were investigated, and the main problems were analyzed. Based on the above research, five key technical suggestions were put forward, such as polar navigation ship technology, ship intelligent manufacturing technology, and ship optimization and energy saving technology. And advices of setting up major projects were put forward, including intelligent ship engineering project, project of super eco-environment protection ships, and project for ship lifecycle operation and maintenance. At last, countermeasures and suggestions for the future development of China’s marine transportation equipment were proposed, in terms of top-level design, policy guidance, capital investment, collaborative innovation, talent construction, and international cooperation. The research results of this study can provide a reference for the future technical research of China’s shipbuilding authorities and relevant institutions.

Abstract:Underwater robot positioning and navigation achieve autonomous underwater robot movement based on the premise that positioning obtains the coordinates of the relative position of the underwater robot using a sensor, and navigation yields a known location to the destination path planning. Due to the location of an underwater robot and the complex and changing environment in which it operates, it is difficult to achieve precise positioning using the traditional positioning method. This paper systematically analyzes and summarizes several typical localization and navigation methods of underwater robots, such as multisensor information fusion technology, underwater acoustic localization and navigation methods, GPS buoy, underwater vision, SLAM and coordinate localization and navigation of multiple underwater robots. Multisensory information fusion technology integrates the advantages of the above methods, enhances the system stability and robustness, overcomes the disadvantages of traditional positioning and navigation, and enables the autonomous navigation and positioning of underwater robots. Underwater acoustics enable flexible and convenient positioning, whereas GPS can achieve high-precision and high-positioning navigation information, and visual positioning effectively overcomes the problem of error accumulation. Multirobot cooperative positioning resolves the problem of positioning failure caused by the collapse of a single system and completes complex tasks that cannot be completed by a single robot, thus enhancing the stability and robustness of the system. This paper systematically describes the realization of these methods, presents an actual analysis of their respective advantages and problems, and discusses the development of the field of research prospects and application prospects.

Abstract:With the number of Chinese ships rapidly increasing, the available channels for the Automatic Identification System (AIS) are serious congested. This has led to a sharp rise in collision warnings. The maritime communication System is comprehensively updated from AIS to VHF Data Exchange System (VDES) in order to ensure efficient communication of huge scale, high density maritime ships as well as guarantee marine navigation security. In this paper, the new generation marine navigation security communication system based on VDES is studied. Designing communication systems for ships at sea, shore-based base stations and space-based satellites; The two-way data exchange between huge scale, high density ships-to-ships and ship-to-shore by VHF frequency band in nearshore and port areas can promote the development of maritime navigation technology and maritime economic.
