Abstract:Fragments produced in the reaction of 60MeV/n O-18 On Be have been measured experimentally. The isotopic distribution of fragmentation reaction is well reproduced by a modified statistical abrasion-ablation model. It is predicted that the isotopic distribution shifts toward the neutron rich side for neutron rich projectile, but this isospin effect decreases with the increase of the atomic number difference Z - Z(A) and disappears at last, where Z and Z(A) are atomic numbers of the isotopic distribution and the projectile respectively.

Abstract:Within the framework of an isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics (IQMD) model,the emission features of light particles in 112Sn+112Sn and 124Sn+124Sn are investigated at different beam energy,different impact parameter,different EOS and different nucleon-nucleon cross section.Calculations show that the ratios of light particles are consistent with the systematics of entrance channel isospin and the midrapidity region can emit more neutron-rich particles than projectiles-like rapidity.In addition,it is found that the light particle ratio is sensitive to the nuclear EOS,but not to the nucleon-nucleon cross section,which makes it possible to extract the isospin-dependent EOS.

Abstract:The directed and elliptic hows in collisions of Sn-112 + Sn-112 at energies from 35 to 90 MeV/nucleon are studied in an isospin-dependent quantum molecule dynamics model. With. increasing incident energy, the directed how rises from negative to positive. Its magnitude depends on the nuclear equation of state (EOS). However, the elliptic flow decreases with increasing incident energy and its magnitude is not very sensitive to EOS. Systematic studies of the impact parameter dependence and the cluster mass dependence are also performed. The study of directed Bow at intermediate energies thus provides a means of extracting the information on the nuclear equation of state.

Abstract:Isospin effect of fragmentation reaction on isotopic distribution was investigated by a modified statistical abrasion-ablation model. It is shown that the isotopic distribution shifts toward the neutron rich side for neutron rich projectile, but this isospin effect will decrease and disappear at last when (Z(proj) - Z)/Z(proj) closes to 0.5 and becomes larger than 0.5 independent of the reaction systems, where Z and Z(proj) are the atomic numbers of the produced isotop and projectile, respectively. It is pointed out that the disappearance of isospin effect comes mainly from the geometry effect in abrasion stage and the evaporation process later.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a method to extract descriptions of technical terms from Web pages in order to utilize the World Wide Web as an encyclopedia. We use linguistic patterns and HTML text structures to extract text fragments containing term descriptions. We also use a language model to discard extraneous descriptions, and a clustering method to summarize resultant descriptions. We show the effectiveness of our method by way of experiments.

Abstract:The experimental π -/ π + ratios in the heavy ion collisions at intermediate energies (400 MeV/u ~ 1 GeV/u) are reanalyzed systematically by applying the isospin dependent transport model IBUU04. By fitting the excitation function and the system dependence of π -/ π + ratio, it is found that the symmetry tends to soften with the densities at about 2 ρ 0. The π -/ π + ratios are calculated as functions of system size and incident energy in three systems with the same N/Z but different masses. It is shown that the sensitivity of π -/ π + depending on Esym ( ρ ) correlates with the degree of isospin fractionation. In addition, the rapidity distribution of π -/ π + in an isospin asymmetric systems (Ru+Zr and Zr+Ru) shows that the equilibrium of isospin degree of freedom is not fully achieved. The difference with the behavior of protons suggests that π -/ π + probes the nuclear matter at high density region.

Abstract:We have studied the isospin effect and isoscaling behavior in projectile fragmentation using a modified statistical abrasion-ablation (SAA) model. The relationship between neutron skin thickness (δnp) and neutron abrasion cross section (σ nabr ) has also been investigated. We find the normalized peak differences and reduced isoscaling parameters decrease with (Z proj - Z)/Z proj or the excitation energy per nucleon and have no significant dependence on the size of the reaction systems. The excitation energy dependence of the symmetry energy coefficients are tentatively extracted from α and β. Assuming Fermi-type density distributions for proton and neutron and introducing a parameter to adjust the diffuseness of the neutron density distribution for neutron-rich nucleus, δnp and σ nabr for neutron-rich nucleus were found to have a linear correlation. It is suggested that σ nabr could be used as an observable to extract the neutron skin thickness for neutron-rich nucleus.

Abstract:Within the framework of an isospin-dependent Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck model using initial proton and neutron densities calculated from the nonlinear relativistic mean-field theory, we compare the strength of transverse collective flow in reactions Ca-48 + Fe-58 and Cr-48 + Ni-58, which have the same mass number but different neutron/proton ratios. The neutron-rich system (Ca-48 + Fe-58) is found to show significantly stronger negative deflection and consequently has a higher balance energy, especially in peripheral collisions.

Abstract:The N/Z dependence of projectile fragmentation at relativistic energies has been studied with the ALADIN forward spectrometer at the GSI Schwerionen Synchrotron (SIS). Stable and radioactive Sn and La beams with an incident energy of 600 MeV per nucleon have been used in order to explore a wide range of isotopic compositions. For the interpretation of the data, calculations with the statistical multifragmentation model for a properly chosen ensemble of excited sources were performed. The parameters of the ensemble, representing the variety of excited spectator nuclei expected in a participant-spectator scenario, are determined empirically by searching for an optimum reproduction of the measured fragment-charge distributions and correlations. An overall very good agreement is obtained. The possible modification of the liquid-drop parameters of the fragment description in the hot freeze-out environment is studied, and a significant reduction of the symmetry-term coefficient is found necessary to reproduce the mean neutron-to-proton ratios /Z and the isoscaling parameters of Z{<=}10 fragments. The calculations are, furthermore, used to address open questions regarding the modification of the surface-term coefficient at freeze-out, the N/Z dependence of the nuclear caloric curve, and the isotopic evolution of the spectator system between its formation during the initial cascade stage ofmore » the reaction and its subsequent breakup.« less

Abstract:Isospin asymmetry is very important in the nuclear equation of state (EOS), isotope yield from the projectile fragments can give information of the reaction process. In this paper projectile fragment yields are measured in the collision Ar-36,Ar-40 + Ni-64 at incident energy 50 MeV/u with different isospin asymmetry project Ar-36,Ar-40, data analysis, particle identification and event selection are described. Isotope yields are compared in these two reactions, and axe also compared with the empirical parametrization of fragmentation cross-section calculated by EPAX.

Abstract:Isotope ratios,defined as the yield ratio of two isotopes with the same charge,were analyzed as a function of kinetic energy of outgoing particles at 20° in the reactions of 40　Ar+112,124Sn and 5° in 36　Ar+112,124Sn at incident energy of 35MeV/u. Isotope ratios between the neutron-deficient isotopes and stable isotope increase with kinetic energy,while those between the neutron-rich isotopes and stable isotope decrease. This different behavior was observed similar for both 112　Sn and 124　Sn targets. The isotope ratios show rather obvious target dependence at 20° and little target dependence at 5°. As the outgoing energy getting down,the N/Z ratio of the fragmentation products at 5° diverts gradually from the N/Z ratio of the projectile to that of the system. These observations indicate that the isospin degree of freedom does not reach complete equilibrium in the peripheral or semi-peripheral collision at this bombarding energy.

Abstract:The cross sections of fragments produced in 140 A MeV Ca40,48+Be9 and Ni58,64+Be9 reactions are calculated by the statistical abration-ablation (SAA) model and compared to the experimental results measured at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL) at Michigan State University. The fragment isotopic and isotonic cross section distributions of Ca40 and Ca48, Ni58 and Ni64, Ca40 and Ni58, and Ca48 and Ni64 are compared and the isospin dependence of the projectile fragmentation is studied. It is found that the isospin dependence decreases and disappears in the central collisions. The shapes of the fragment isotopic and isotonic cross section distributions are found to be very similar for symmetric projectile nuclei. The shapes of the fragment isotopic and isotonic distributions of different asymmetric projectiles produced in peripheral reactions are found to be very similar. The similarity of the distributions are related to the similar proton and neutron density distributions inside the nucleus in framework of the SAA model.

Abstract:Fission fragments resulting from the fission of target-like nuclei produced in the $^{40}\mathrm{Ar}+^{197}\mathrm{Au}$ reaction at 35 MeV/u are measured in coincidence with the emitted light charged particles (LCPs). Comparison of the $N/Z$ composition of the LCPs at middle and large angles in the laboratory frame shows that particles emitted at smaller angles, which contain a larger contribution from dynamical emission, are more neutron rich. A moving-source model is used to fit the energy spectra of the hydrogen isotopes. A hierarchy from proton to deuteron and triton is observed in the multiplicity ratio between the intermediate velocity source and the compound nucleus source. This ratio is sensitive to the dynamical emission at early stages of the reaction and to statistical emission lasting up to the scission point. Calculations with the improved quantum molecular dynamics (ImQMD) transport-model qualitatively support the picture that more free and bound neutrons are emitted during the early stage, showing a clear dependence of $N/Z$ on the parametrization of the symmetry energy. The time-dependent isospin composition of the emitted particles thus may be used to probe the symmetry energy at subsaturation densities.

Abstract:The fragments produced in the reaction of O-18 + Be-9 at 60 MevV/nucleon were measured experimentally. The isotopic distribution of the fragmentation reaction products was well reproduced by using a modified statistical abrasion-ablation model This model predicts that the fragment isotopic distribution at a fixed atomic number Z shifts towards the neutron rich side for the neutron-rich projectile. This isospin effect will decrease with decreasing the fragment atomic number Z and disappear when (Z(proj)-Z)/Z(proj) becomes larger than 0.5. It was shown that the disappearance of the isospin effect of fragmentation reaction is induced by the geometry effect in abrasion stage and the evaporation effect later.

Abstract:By using the ImQMD05 code, we simulate the 40Ar+197Au,+124Sn at beam energy of 35, 50 and 100 MeV/u and semi-peripheral collisions. The reaction mechanism, symmetry potential and Coulomb potential competition around the overlapped neck region and impact parameters effects are investigated for understanding the angular distribution of isospin contents of dynamical emitted light particles. Our results show that the angular anisotropy of the coalescence invariant neutron to proton yield ratios is sensitive to the stiffness of symmetry energy, especially for the dynamical emitted light particles with Ek>10 MeV.
