Abstract:<p>In electronic structure and quantum transport calculations, many physical quantities are integrations over the electron energy, weighted by the Fermi-Dirac distribution function. Green's function based approaches commonly circumvent the numerically difficult real energy integration by extending the integrand analytically into the complex energy plane, and using a Gaussian quadrature integration over a complex energy contour for zero temperature. For finite temperatures, a much slower convergent sum over the Matsubara frequencies is necessary. We present a generalized quadrature method that uses orthogonal polynomials on the manifold of Matsubara frequencies to enable rapid convergence. Both Gaussian quadrature integration and Matsubara frequency summation methods are shown to be limiting cases of the generalized method. Tests on an all-electron <em>ab initio</em> code and total energy calculation of interacting Anderson impurity model show convergence with a small number of energy mesh points.</p>

Abstract:Using a self-consistent scattered field approach based on fluctuational electrodynamics, we develop compact formulas for radiative heat transfer in many-body systems without the constraint of reciprocity. The formulas allow for efficient numerical calculation for a system consisting of a large number of bodies, and are in principle exact. As a demonstration, for a nonreciprocal many-body system, we investigate persistent heat current at thermal equilibrium and directional heat transfer when the system is away from thermal equilibrium.

Abstract:The rigorous relations between the propagators of transient Schrödinger equations and stationary Green functions are established.Based on the generalized Fourier transform,non-singular transparent boundary condition for transient prob-lem is proposed in a representation of Green functions.The unified framework of Green function method is presented for converting an open boundary problem into a bounded boundary problem.Numerical scheme for time-dependent Schrödinger equation with non-singular transparent boundary condition is designed to simulate the propagations of a free Gaussian wave packet and the resonant tunnelling through double barriers.Numerical results validate the effectiveness of non-singular trans-parent boundary condition.

Abstract:The calculation of work distributions in a quantum many-body system is of significant importance and also of formidable difficulty in the field of nonequilibrium quantum statistical mechanics. To solve this problem, inspired by the Schwinger-Keldysh formalism, we propose the contour-integral formulation for work statistics. Based on this contour integral, we show how to do the perturbation expansion of the characteristic function of work (CFW) and obtain the approximate expression of the CFW to the second order of the work parameter for an arbitrary system under a perturbative protocol. We also demonstrate the validity of fluctuation theorems by utilizing the Kubo-Martin-Schwinger condition. Finally, we use noninteracting identical particles in a forced harmonic potential as an example to demonstrate the powerfulness of our approach.

Abstract:The traditional quantum adiabatic condition is viewed as a first-order approximation to guarantee the adiabatic evolution. However, its application may lead to inconsistency in certain cases. Here, based on the Green's function and partial resummarization method, we derive a more powerful adiabatic condition. This adiabatic condition bears a clear physical sense and is free of the former inconsistency. The methods we adopt in this paper also provide a natural framework to discuss adiabaticity in more general settings.

Abstract:Based on the chiral quantization, we develop a nonperturbative method for nonlocal conserved currents for Toda-type integrable systems. The sine-Gordon model and the ZMS model are dealt with uniformly in this scheme, just as these two models are treated in the perturbed CFT framework. Although there only exist two nonlocal conserved charges, this scheme can provide all the useful data of physics concerned, e.g., the braiding relations, the spectra-dependent S-matrices of the solitons, etc.

Abstract:Unraveling general properties of Green's functions of quantum dissipative systems is of both experimental relevance and theoretical interest. Here, we study the spin-boson model as a prototype. By utilizing the Majorana- Fermion representation together with the polaron transformation, we establish a theoretical approach to analyze Green's functions of the spin-boson model. In contrast to conventional perturbation theories either in the tunneling energy or in the system-bath coupling strength, the proposed scheme gives reliable results over wide regimes of the coupling strength, bias, as well as temperature. To demonstrate the utility of the approach, we consider the susceptibility as well as the symmetrized spin correlation function (SSCF) which can be expressed in terms of Green's functions. Thorough investigations are made on systems embedded in Ohmic or sub-Ohmic bosonic baths. We found the so-obtained SSCF is the same as that of the non-interacting blip approximation (NIBA) in unbiased systems while it is applicable for a wider range of temperature in the biased systems compared with the NIBA. We also show that a previous perturbation result is recovered as a weak coupling limit of the so-obtained SSCF. Furthermore, by studying the quantum criticality of the susceptibility, we confirm the validity of the quantum-toclassical mapping in the whole sub-Ohmic regime.

Abstract:We generalize Luck's Theorem to show that the L^2-Betti numbers of a residually amenable covering space are the limit of the L^2-Betti numbers of a sequence of amenable covering spaces. We show that any residually amenable covering space of a finite simplicial complex is of determinant class, and that the L^2 torsion is a homotopy invariant for such spaces. We give examples of residually amenable groups, including the Baumslag-Solitar groups.

Abstract:Despite its centrality in the mathematical structure of perturbative many-body theory, the total Green's function for the many-body time-dependent Schrodinger equation has been ignored for decades, superseded by single-particle Green's functions, for which a vast portion of the literature has been devoted. In this paper, we give the first computation the total Green's function for the time-dependent Schrodinger equation for a non-interacting system of identical particles, setting the stage for a fresh interpretation of perturbative many-body physics.

Heat transfer in a nonequilibrium spin-boson model: A perturbative approach

Abstract:We investigate the heat transport in a nonequilibrium spin-boson model, where a two level system bridging two harmonic reservoirs at different temperatures, by employing a unitary transformation along with a resolvent operator expansion technique. Analytical expressions of the heat current and the thermal conductance of this model are obtained. Compared with the performances of other methods, namely, the nonequilibrium Green's function method and the equation of motion formulation, our approach provides a reasonable description of heat transfer properties of the nonequilibrium spin-boson model for the weak-coupling region at low temperature.

Abstract:Within the non-equilibrium Green's function technique on the real time contour, the Phi-functional method of Baym is reviewed and generalized to arbitrary non-equilibrium many-particle systems. The scheme may be closed at any desired order in the number of loops or vertices of the generating functional. It defines effective theories, which provide a closed set of coupled classical field and Dyson equations, which are self-consistent, conserving and thermodynamically consistent. The approach permits to include unstable particles and therefore unifies the description of resonances with all other particles, which obtain a mass width by collisions, decays or creation processes in dense matter. The inclusion of classical fields enables the treatment of soft modes and phase instabilities. The method can be taken as a starting point for adequate and consistent quantum improvements of the in-medium rates in transport theories.

Abstract:Numerical annealing and renormalization group have conceived various successful approaches to study the thermodynamics of strongly-correlated systems where perturbation or expansion theories fail to work. As the process of lowering the temperatures is usually involved in different manners, these approaches in general become much less efficient or accurate at the low temperatures. In this work, we propose to access the finite-temperature properties from the tensor network (TN) representing the zero-temperature partition function. We propose to "scissor" a finite part from such an infinite-size TN, and "stitch" it to possess the periodic boundary condition along the imaginary-time direction. We dub this approach as TN tailoring. Exceptional accuracy is achieved with a fine-tune process, surpassing the previous methods including the linearized tensor renormalization group [Phys. Rev. Lett. 106, 127202 (2011)], continuous matrix product operator [Phys. Rev. Lett. 125, 170604 (2020)], and etc. High efficiency is demonstrated, where the time cost is nearly independent of the target temperature including the extremely-low temperatures. The proposed idea can be extended to higher-dimensional systems of bosons and fermions.

Abstract:It has long been understood that the inclusion of temperature in the perturbative treatment of quantum field theories leads to complications that are not present at zero temperature. In these proceedings we report on the non-perturbative obstructions that arise, and how these lead to deviations in the predictions of lattice scalar correlation functions in massive $\phi^{4}$ theory. Using the known non-perturbative spectral constraints satisfied by finite-temperature correlation functions we outline why the presence of distinct particle-like excitations could provide a resolution to these issues.

Abstract:We generalize the methods used in the theory of correlation dynamics and establish a set of equations of motion for many-body correlation Green functions in the nonrelativistic case. These nonlinear and coupled equations of motion describe the dynamical evolution of correlation Green functions of different order and transparently show how many-body correlations are generated by the different interaction terms in a genuine nonperturbative framework. The nonperturbative results of the conventional Green function theory are included in the present formalism as two limiting cases (the so-called ladder-diagram summation and ring-diagram summation) as well as the familiar correlation dynamics of density matrices in the equal-time limit. We present explicit expressions for three- and four-body correlation functions that can be used to dynamically restore the trace relations for spin-symmetric Fermi systems and study numerically the relative importance of two-, three- and four-body correlations for nuclear configurations close to the ground state.

Abstract:A wide range of analytical and numerical methods are available to study quantum spin systems. However, the complexity of spin correlations and interactions limits their applicability to specific temperature ranges. The analytical approach utilizing Green’s function has proved advantageous, as it allows for formulation without restrictions on the presence of long-range order and facilitates estimation of the spin excitation spectrum and thermodynamic quantities across the entire temperature range. In this work, we present a generalized formulation of the Green’s function method that can be applied to diverse spin systems. The notable aspect of our approach is that the theory aligns with the high-temperature expansion results in the high-temperature regime. When the spatial dimension d is d ≥ 3, our formulation effectively describes the magnetic long-range order as Bose–Einstein condensation occurring at the wave vector characteristic of the magnetic long-range order. As an application to a frustrated spin system, we consider the J1–J2 model on the square lattice, incorporating nematic correlations. While our approach may not be robust enough to determine the ground state properties, it is capable of describing short-range correlations at finite temperatures to a certain extent. In the presence of strong frustration, accurate numerical calculations become essential. Within this framework, we compute the specific heat, the spin susceptibility, and the spin-wave gaps at characteristic wave vectors, and discuss the effects of frustration. Our primary focus here is on the spin one-half antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model on an arbitrary lattice. However, the Green’s function approach can be extended to include other types of interactions and accommodate higher spin values.

The Green's Functions for Peridynamic Non-Local Diffusion.

Abstract:In this work, we develop the Green's function method for the solution of the peridynamic non-local diffusion model in which the spatial gradient of the generalized potential in the classical theory is replaced by an integral of a generalized response function in a horizon. We first show that the general solutions of the peridynamic non-local diffusion model can be expressed as functionals of the corresponding Green's functions for point sources, along with volume constraints for non-local diffusion. Then, we obtain the Green's functions by the Fourier transform method for unsteady and steady diffusions in infinite domains. We also demonstrate that the peridynamic non-local solutions converge to the classical differential solutions when the non-local length approaches zero. Finally, the peridynamic analytical solutions are applied to an infinite plate heated by a Gauss source, and the predicted variations of temperature are compared with the classical local solutions. The peridynamic non-local diffusion model predicts a lower rate of variation of the field quantities than that of the classical theory, which is consistent with experimental observations. The developed method is applicable to general diffusion-type problems.

Abstract:We present new results from studies in progress on physics at a two-photon collider. We report on the sensitivity to top squark parameters of MSSM Higgs boson production in two-photon collisions; Higgs boson decay to two photons; radion production in models of warped extra dimensions; chargino pair production; sensitivity to the trilinear Higgs boson coupling; charged Higgs boson pair production; and we discuss the backgrounds produced by resolved photon-photon interactions.

Abstract:We propose the non-relativistic finite temperature quantum wave equations for a single particle and multiple particles. We give the relation between energy eigenvalues, eigenfunctions, transition frequency and temperature, and obtain some results: (1) when the degeneracies of two energy levels are same, the transition frequency between the two energy levels is unchanged when the temperature is changed. (2) When the degeneracies of two energy levels are different, the variance of transition frequency at two energy levels is direct proportion to temperature difference.

Abstract:Non-equilibrium Green's Function (NGF) method is a powerful tool for studying the evolution of quantum many-body systems. Different types of correlations can be systematically incorporated within the formalism. The time evolution of the single-particle Green's functions is described in terms of the Kadanoff-Baym equations. The current work initially focuses on introducing the correlations within infinite nuclear matter in one dimension and then in a finite system in the NGF approach. Starting from the harmonic oscillator Hamiltonian, by switching on adiabatically the mean-field and correlations simultaneously, a correlated state with ground-state characteristics is arrived at within the NGF method. Furthermore the use of cooling to for improving the adiabatic switching is explored.
