Abstract:Transaction cost theorists argue that the raison for specificity determining enterprise's boundary is asset's specificity,they deny the determining role of technique on specificity,they are not aware of its technique characteristics-synergistic specificity,therefore unaware of specificity's limitation.Development of computer demonstrates that adoption of module technique has been changing asset's specificity.Module has both characteristics of independent function(s) and decomposing connection.Module design take in consideration of decentralization principle;modulizing products are characterized in synergistic non-specificity that suits to individualized consumption;mass production thus turns to mass customization.Increasing degree of modulization makes synergistic specificity turning into synergistic non-specificity,leading to reduce degree of specificity,thus changes the conclusion of asset specificity determining enterprise's boundary.Modulization therefore plays an important role on merge and acquisition.
