Abstract:We are concerned with the well-posedness of the density-dependent incompressible viscoelastic fluid system. By Schauder-Tychonoff fixed point argument, when $\|{1}/{\rho_0}-1\|_{\dot{B}_{p,1}^{{N}/{p}}}$ is small, local well-posedness is showed to hold in Besov space. Furthermore, provided the initial data $(1/\rho_0 -1,\upsilon_0,U_0-I)$ is small under certain norm, we also get the existence of the global solution.

Abstract:The paper concerns foundations of sensitivity and stability analysis in optimization and related areas, being primarily addressed constrained systems. We consider general models, which are described by multifunctions between Banach spaces and concentrate on characterizing their well-posedness properties that revolve around Lipschitz stability and metric regularity relative to sets. Invoking tools of variational analysis and generalized differentiation, we introduce new robust notions of relative contingent coderivatives. The novel machinery of variational analysis leads us to establishing complete characterizations of the relative well-posedness properties and developing basic rules of variational calculus interrelated with the obtained characterizations of well-posedness. Most of the our results valid in general infinite-dimensional settings are also new in finite dimensions.

Abstract:We study equilibrium problem on general Riemannian manifolds, focusing on existence of solutions and the convexity properties of the solution set. Our approach consists in relating the equilibrium problem to a suitable variational inequality problem on Riemannian manifolds, and is completely different from previous ones on this topic in the literature. We apply our results to the mixed variational inequality and the Nash equilibrium problem. Moreover, we formulate and analyze the convergence of the proximal point algorithm for the equilibrium problem. In particular, correct proofs are provided for the results claimed in J. Math. Anal. Appl. 388 (2012) 61–77 (i.e., Theorems 3.5 and 4.9 there) regarding the existence of the mixed variational inequality and the domain of the resolvent for the equilibrium problem on Hadamard manifolds.

Abstract:The present paper deals with the perturbation analysis of set-valued inclusion problems, a problem format whose relevance has recently emerged in such contexts as robust and vector optimization as well as in vector equilibrium theory. The set-valued inclusions here considered are parameterized by variables belonging to a topological space, with and without constraints. By proper techniques of variational analysis, some qualitative global implicit function theorems are established, which ensure global solvability of these problems and continuous dependence on the parameter of the related solutions. Applications to parametric vector optimization are discussed, aimed at deriving sufficient conditions for the existence of ideal efficient solutions that depend continuously on the parameter perturbations.

Abstract:By using the properties of w-distances and Gerstewitz's functions, we first give a vectorial Takahashi's nonconvex minimization theorem with a w-distance. From this, we deduce a general vectorial Ekeland's variational principle, where the objective function is from a complete metric space into a pre-ordered topological vector space and the perturbation contains a w-distance and a non-decreasing function of the objective function value. From the general vectorial variational principle, we deduce a vectorial Caristi's fixed point theorem with a w-distance. Finally we show that the above three theorems are equivalent to each other. The related known results are generalized and improved. In particular, some conditions in the theorems of [Y. Araya, Ekeland's variational principle and its equivalent theorems in vector optimization, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 346(2008), 9-16] are weakened or even completely relieved.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the nonemptiness of weak Pareto efficient solution set for a class of nonsmooth vector optimization problems on a nonempty closed constraint set without any boundedness and convexity assumptions. First, we obtain a new property concerning the nonemptiness of weak Pareto efficient solution sets for these vector optimization problems. Then, under the condition of weak section-boundedness from below, we establish relationships between the notions of properness, Palais-Smale, weak Palais-Smale and M-tameness conditions with respect to some index sets for the restriction of the vector mapping on the constraint set. Finally, we present some new necessary and sufficient conditions for the nonemptiness of the weak Pareto efficient solution set for a general class of nonsmooth vector optimization problems.

On the Well-posedness of Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman Equations of the Equilibrium Type

Abstract:This paper studies the well-posedness of a class of nonlocal parabolic partial differential equations (PDEs), or equivalently equilibrium Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations, which has a strong tie with the characterization of the equilibrium strategies and the associated value functions for time-inconsistent stochastic control problems. Specifically, we consider nonlocality in both time and space, which allows for modelling of the stochastic control problems with initial-time-and-state dependent objective functionals. We leverage the method of continuity to show the global well-posedness within our proposed Banach space with our established Schauder prior estimate for the linearized nonlocal PDE. Then, we adopt a linearization method and Banach's fixed point arguments to show the local well-posedness of the nonlocal fully nonlinear case, while the global well-posedness is attainable provided that a very sharp a-priori estimate is available. On top of the well-posedness results, we also provide a probabilistic representation of the solutions to the nonlocal fully nonlinear PDEs and an estimate on the difference between the value functions of sophisticated and naïve controllers. Finally, we give a financial example of time inconsistency that is proven to be globally solvable.

Abstract:For a family of vector-valued bifunctions, we introduce the notion of sequentially lower monotonity, which is strictly weaker than the lower semi-continuity of the second variables of the bifunctions. Then, we give a general version of vectorial Ekeland variational principle (briefly, denoted by EVP) for a system of equilibrium problems, where the sequentially lower monotone objective bifunction family is defined on products of sequentially lower complete spaces (concerning sequentially lower complete spaces, see Zhu et al. (2013)), and taking values in a quasi-ordered locally convex space. Besides, the perturbation consists of a subset of the ordering cone and a family { p i } i ∈ I of negative functions satisfying for each i ∈ I , p i ( x i , y i ) = 0 if and only if x i = y i . From the general version, we can deduce several particular equilibrium versions of EVP, which can be applied to show the existence of solutions for countable systems of equilibrium problems. In particular, we obtain a general existence result of solutions for countable systems of equilibrium problems in the setting of sequentially lower complete spaces. By weakening the compactness of domains and the lower semi-continuity of objective bifunctions, we extend and improve some known existence results of solutions for countable system of equilibrium problems in the setting of complete metric spaces (or Fréchet spaces). When the domains are non-compact, by using the theory of angelic spaces (see Floret (1980)), we generalize some existence results on solutions for countable systems of equilibrium problems by extending the framework from reflexive Banach spaces to the strong duals of weakly compactly generated spaces.

Abstract:This paper investigates full stability properties for \emph{variational Nash equilibriums} of a system of parametric nonconvex optimal control problems governed by semilinear elliptic partial differential equations. We first obtain some new results on the existence of variational Nash equilibriums for the system of original/parametric nonconvex optimal control problems. Then we establish explicit characterizations of the Lipschitzian and Hölderian full stability of variational Nash equilibriums under perturbations. These results deduce the equivalence between variational Nash equilibriums and local Nash equilibriums in the classical sense.

Abstract:In this paper we consider the Levitin–Polyak well-posedness of a variational–hemivariational inequality in reflexive Banach spaces. First, we establish the equivalence between the Levitin–Polyak well-posedness of the considered inequality and the existence and uniqueness of its solution. Then, we discuss the relationships among the Levitin–Polyak well-posedness of the variational–hemivariational inequality, its corresponding inclusion problem and a constrained minimization problem. The proof of our results are based on arguments of monotonicity, convexity and the properties of the Clarke generalized gradient. Finally, we provide an application of our results in the study of a frictional contact problem with subdifferential boundary conditions.

Abstract:In this article, we work on vector optimization problems in linear topological spaces. Our vector optimization problems have weakened convex inequality constraints and weakened affine equality constraints. Our inequalities are given by partial orders that are induced by pointed convex cones. We prove a Farkas–Minkowski-type theorem of alternative and obtain some optimality conditions through the discussions of vector saddle points and scalar saddle points.

Abstract:We prove the existence and uniqueness of local in time strong solutions to the full Ericksen-Leslie system in a bounded domain in R 3 , with strong anchoring boundary condition for the director field.The proof consists of three main steps: first, we introduce a new equivalent formulation of the system, which together with the boundary condition ensures the nonlinear constraint that |n| " 1.Second, based on this new formulation, we establish the well-posedness of the linearized system and show that the nonlinear operator induced by the stress tensor terms is locally Lipschitz continuous.These results together with a fixed point argument lead to the existence of a local in time solution of the new system.Third, the hydrodynamic component of the coupled system can be reformulated as a quasi-stationary Stokes-type equation.Subsequently, we can apply the regularity theory of the generalized Stokes system and employ a bootstrap argument to improve the spatial regularity of the local in time solution.

Abstract:Concerning the global existence of classical solution to systems of hyperbolic-parabolic composite type, a well-known general theory was established by Kawashima in [4], where the dissipation condition (Kawashima-Shizuta condition) to the linearized system plays a fundamental role. Recently, systems with much weaker dissipations have attracted a lot of attentions, see [1], [2], [10], [11] among others. The typical feature of this kind of system is that the corresponding linearized system has one eigenvalue with the real part equals to zero. This violates the Kawashima-Shizuta stability conditions. In this paper, we develop a general global well-posedness theory for this kind of system. Moreover, as the applications of the general theory, several examples are given.

Abstract:A sufficient condition for the existence of a solution for generalized vector equilibrium problem (GVEP) on Hadamard manifold, by using a version of KKM lemma on this context, is presented in this paper. It is worth to point out that, in particular, existence result of solution for optimization problems, vector optimization problems, Nash equilibria problems, complementarity problems and variational inequality problems can be obtained as a special case of the existence result for GVEP in this new context.

Abstract:This paper considers mathematical programs, whose constraints are expressed by a parameterized vector equilibrium problem. The latter is a well recognized framework, which is able to cover multicriteria optimization, vector variational inequalities and complementarity problems. As the solutions to vector equilibrium problems are here intended in a strong sense, the consequent MPEC problems result in a class still little explored by the existing literature. Some necessary optimality conditions for such programs are established following a penalization approach. To derive and express these conditions, concepts and tools of nonsmooth analysis are employed. In treating equilibrium constraints, by techniques of variational analysis some error bounds are obtained, which may be of independent interest.

Abstract:In this paper, we develop existence and stability theorems for strong vector set-valued equilibrium problems in reflexive Banach spaces. Based on asymptotic cone theory, we present the equivalent characterizations on the nonemptiness and boundedness of the solution set for strong vector set-valued equilibrium problems. Furthermore, stability results are established for strong vector set-valued equilibrium problems, when both the mapping and the constraint set are perturbed by different parameters.

Abstract:We extend the concept of well-posedness to the split equilibrium problem and establish Furi-Vignoli-type characterizations for the well-posedness. We prove that the well-posedness of the split equilibrium problem is equivalent to the existence and uniqueness of its solution under certain assumptions on the bifunctions involved. We also characterize the generalized well-posedness of the split equilibrium problem via the Kuratowski measure of noncompactness. We illustrate our theoretical results by several examples.
