Abstract:Objective To investigate the pathogenesis and treatment of early postoperative inflammatory small bowel obstruction (EPISBO).Methods The clinical records of 23 cases of EPISBO were analyzed retrospectively.Results Recovery was achieved in all of the 23 cases. The average time of treatment was 29.6±15.4 days. All patients were initially treated by fasting, gastrointestinal decompression, TPN, somatostatin and other therapies. Reoperation was carried out in 2 cases, with intestinal fistula complication produced in one of them.Conclusion EPISBO mostly occurs 3-10 days after operation (average 6.2±2.8 days). Nonoperative treatment is safe and effective for EPISBO.
