Abstract:In cities with a "ring+radiations" road network structure, a three Branch intersection is formed at the connection between the inner ring and radiations. Common three branch interchanges include T-shaped, Y-shaped, trumpet shaped, leaf shaped, pear shaped interchanges, etc. Shenyang City plans a "two verticals and three horizontals+four rings+seventeen radiations" urban expressway network. This article takes the three-branch intersection formed by Chongshan Road, Tawan Street, and Yuanjiang Street in Shenyang City as an example to analyze its traffic characteristics and predict traffic demand. Based on this, three interchange selection schemes are proposed, and recommended schemes are obtained through multi angle comparison. This article provides ideas for the selection of three branch interchanges. In addition, because this project is located in the built-up area and the surrounding land is tight, this article also explores the problems and solutions of the overpass renovation in the built-up area, providing reference for similar projects.
Cost-benefit Analysis for Route Laying Mode Decision of Beijing Metro Line 15

Abstract:The route laying mode of urban rapid rail transit has important influence on urban land use and local area development The choice between elevated line and underground line is usually controversial, especially in the area with potential development. While qualitative analysis can decide the rout laying mode in definite developed area, a quantitative evaluation considering comprehensive issues is needed to make the right decision at area with an unknown future of development. A revised cost-benefit analysis is proposed in this paper with added aspects, such as cost of environmental impact and benefit of land use saving, air defence function and passenger interchanging time saving, which have more advantage for underground line. A questionnaire of environmental impact by pay willing investigation and the air defence function benefit calculation are introduced The proposed method was used for the compare of route laying method in one section of Beijing Metro Line 15. Result of the new approach of C-B analysis show that the ratio of benefit to cost for underground line scheme is bigger than that of elevated line scheme, which is totally opposite to the result got from traditional evaluation approach. The owner and the planning bureau adopted the suggestion of the underground line scheme, which has been put into practice in the final design at the decision making research area of going underground.
Macro Planning of Highway Hubs Adapting to Changchun-Jilin High-Speed Railway Project

Abstract:China devoted major efforts to develop high-speed railways. In order to deal with the impacts on the regional highway system from the project of high-speed railways, methods for forecasting the indexes of GDP, population, highway passenger volume and highway freight volume were put forward according to the characteristics of high-speed rail transportation by analyzing the law of historical data. Based on the forecast results of the four indexes, a method for calculating the quantity of highway hubs was designed using the node importance method, and a method for classifying the highway hubs was designed using the clustering analysis method. The methods above were tested in the example of Changchun-Jilin high-speed railway construction project. The results show that the optimal number of highway hubs in Jilin province should be 14 to 18, classified into 6 national highway hubs, 2 provincial level one highway hubs and 9 provincial level two highway hubs.

Abstract:Full-duplex communication (FDC) can potentially double the network capacity by allowing a device to transmit and receive simultaneously on the same frequency band. In this study, a novel resource allocation and user scheduling algorithm is proposed to maximise the network throughput for a cellular network with full-duplex (FD) base stations (BSs). The authors consider that FDC is utilised at the BS with imperfect self-interference (SI) cancellation while user devices only work in the traditional half-duplex (HD) way. In addition, to potentially cancel co-channel interference caused by other users, the opportunistic interference cancellation (OIC) technique is applied at user side. Since FDC does not always perform better than HD due to residual SI (RSI), a joint mode selection, user scheduling, and channel allocation problem is formulated to maximise the system throughput. The optimisation problem is non-convex and NP-hard, thereby a suboptimal heuristic algorithm with low computational complexity is proposed. Numerical results demonstrate that user diversity gain, FD gain, and OIC gain can be achieved by the proposed algorithm, respectively. The performance of FDC depends on the intensity of RSI and the distribution of user devices.

Abstract:With the development of smart cities, it is particularly important to realize scientific and reasonable planning of transmission lines as the backbone of the power transmission system. Through the geographic information system (GIS) platform, this paper obtains the geographic information of the planning area. Then, through the typical design cost of the 110 kV transmission line subvolume of the typical cost of the power transmission and transformation project of the State Grid Corporation and the local documents of the smart city planning area, this paper obtains the estimated cost of each grid after gridding in the smart city area. After that, the research uses the ant colony algorithm to search for the optimal transmission line route in the smart city. Finally, the achievements of primary economic and technical indexes are evaluated in transmission line planning of smart city.

Abstract:Transmission line design is an important part of power grid engineering design, and transmission line path selection is the basis of line design. Transmission line route selection is to select a line path that can not only meet the requirements of power transmission and consumption, but also consider the cost control of the line, and avoid the farmland, highways, ecological exclusion zone between the start and end of the transmission line. The path scheme is constrained by geographical factors, project cost, construction conditions, operation and maintenance conditions, which makes the path selection show the characteristics of comprehensive diversity, spatial complexity, policy influence and so on. In the traditional route selection of transmission lines, line design specialists need to go through blind route selection, site survey and other steps to determine the path scheme, but because of insufficient effectiveness of the map, it is difficult to reflect the real environmental information, resulting in repeated route selection work to determine the final path scheme. In this paper, the selection principle of transmission line path is introduced first. Then, two path optimization algorithms, i.e. A* algorithm and rapidly expanding random tree (RRT) algorithm, are used to select transmission lines respectively. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of these two algorithms in practical engineering line selection design are comparatively analyzed. Compared with the way of A* algorithm, RRT algorithm is more suitable for practical application of power system. It aims to provide a reference for the method of intelligent line selection in subsequent transmission design.

Abstract:BIM (Building Information Modeling) is to create models based on various related information in construction projects and use simulation virtual technology to model actual building information. It is not only the integration of digital information but also the application of digital information in engineering construction. Digital models can be used to plan and simulate the whole process of construction projects scientifically and accurately. In the process of project construction, wireless network communication technology can provide a good basis for collaboration, which is essential for the control of project progress, task scheduling, and systematic communication between all parties. This article introduces the LTE wireless network communication technology and network coverage plan, summarizes the cost and schedule control principles of construction projects, analyzes the factors that affect the construction schedule in subway construction, and introduces the application of BIM technology in subway construction schedule control. Taking the construction of Section XX of Line 1 of City A as an example, a simulation experiment was carried out, and the optimization effect was evaluated with SPI and CPI indicators. The final experimental results show that it is meaningful to use the BIM model algorithm to optimize the subway project. In the simulation experiment, the corresponding construction period saving rate after completion of the project is 6.94%.

Abstract:A novel method, multi-scenarios method, is presented for electric power network flexible planning. At first, the method can be used to select optimal expansion plans at different scenarios, which are defined as load growth levels. Then based on the concept of occurring probability of scenario and the selection state of selectable transmission line, the concept of selected probability of selectable transmission line is introduced. According to the reliability of the network and the selected probability of transmission line, a flexible system expansion planning can be obtained. The feasibility of the method has also been proved in some test examples. Discussion on station layout design of intercity/metropolitan railway CTCS2+ATO system

Abstract:The design of railway stations impacts transportation efficiency and production. Therefore, meeting the needs of the new era for station design is a concern for the railway industry. This paper proposes a new design method for intercity/urban railway stations to address the requirements of the CTCS2+ATO (China Train Control System Level 2 + Automatic Train Operation) train control system for public transportation operations, aiming to shorten yard length and improve transportation efficiency. First, we compare design principles of arrival/departure lines at home and abroad. Second, we analyze factors affecting the effective length of passenger dedicated line stations. Third, we analyze the technical conditions for the implementation of the CTCS2+ATO system, optimize various influencing parameters according to the design specifications while ensuring the safe operation of trains. Fourth, we establish a CTCS2+ATO system arrival and departure line effective length model under selected vehicle parameters and line parameters conditions, and provide examples, illustrations and explanations of the effective length. Finally, we verify the proposed station design scheme through the intercity/urban railway CTCS2+ATO system laboratory test platform. The experimental results show that under the selected parameters, the train is controlled by ATO, and after entering the station, it stops steadily and accurately without passing the outbound signal. This is consistent with the theory and can improve the transportation efficiency of railway passenger dedicated lines while shortening the platform distances. The research results can be used to guide the design of intercity/urban railway stations.

Abstract:Abstract Based on the practical case “the Consultation on Split Scheme of Beijing Rail Transit Line 13”, this paper collects and forecasts the passenger flow information, to combine the situation of the line with the surrounding land use, to probe into those possible problems of the existing split scheme deeply. By adopting digital construction technology, three sets of transfer layout optimization schemes are studied and designed, in order to realize the seamless connection between 13A Line and 13B Line after split. Then, this paper is supposed to establish the index evaluation system, and the satisfactory optimization scheme is obtained by the comprehensive comparison and selection from the aspects of convenience for passengers, feasibility of scheme implementation and so on. AnyLogic software is used to build a simulation model of human-vehicle interaction, which realizes the effect display and dynamic index acquisition. And the optimization effect is analyzed from the perspective of transfer platform security.
Rationality of City Railway Planning Based on Land Use:A Case Study in Dongguan City,PRC

Abstract:The land along railway route is an important source area of passengers.The land use structure and intensity along railway route will influence both the volume and stability of passengers.This paper analyses the rationality of city railway planning,taking the impact of land use to passenger volume and its stability as criterion.The study area is divided into 14 parts of zones which the railway passes through.GIS data is used to analyses the rationality of railway planning of the city. Two categories of indicators are used in the process of analysis.One is related to land use structure including landscape diversity index,dominance index and the contagion index;the other is used to describe the land use intensity including population density,structure density and floor area ratio.According to the urban land use classification system,the land use along Dongguan city railway route can be classified into 13 categories and 26 sub-categories,that is,residential land,commercial land,industrial land,land for storage,transportation,road and square,public green space,specially used land,agricultural land,water area,open space and hill land.The Fragstats 3.3 is used to analyze landscape indices. Based on the analysis,it is concluded that land use along the railway route is intent to a high diversity,and the structure and intensity of local land use suitable for the operation of transit.The land of the study area can steadily provide large amount of passengers for the city railway transport in the future and the planning of the Dongguan city railway route has a higher rationality.Some part of the railway transit,i.e.Guancheng,Nancheng,Houjie,Chang'an and Dongcheng are planned more rationally.As for Mayong and Daojiao,because of their low landscape diversity,population density,structure density and occupied by a large proportion of agricultural land and water area,the rationality of the planning is relatively lower.Some indices especially the land use intensity indices are favorable to the operation of the transit,but they are with uncertainty for building of the transit due to great amount of compensation to the residents and the land owners living in the buffer.So we should dialectically understand the value of the indices.
POTENTIAL INFLUENCES OF RAIL TRANSPORTATION CONSTRUCTION TO LAND USE DIFFERENTIATION IN NANJING

Abstract:According to the characteristics of rail transportation construction and development background in Nanjing, we build the database about land use and transportation of the main city. Researches of Edward J, Forman and Zhou Jun etc. about corridor effect are reviewed. Based on the theory of corridor effect, the potential influences of rail transportation construction to land use differentiation are analyzed. First we make use of GIS and RS methods to extract land use data along the first rail transportation traffic line ranged from 500 miles to 2000 miles on the base of corridor effect. Then the data of the residence land, the public utilities land and the manufacture land is computed and analyzed. The results show: (1)The potential of land use differentiation along the rail transportation has arisen, the residence land has manifested obvious corridor effect, and the ratio of the residence land in the total land decreases gradually from the core layer.(2)The manufacture land is excluded from the rail transportation, the ratio of which is gradually decreasing from 1997 to 2001; But also the ratio of the manufacture land in the total land fluctuates from the core layer. (3)The trend of land use differentiation of the public utilities is not definitely obvious. In 1997, the ratio of the public utilities is gradually decreasing with the distance increasing along the rail transportation, and shows distinct corridor effect. In 2001 the public utilities are increased, but the tread of land use differentiation is fluctuant. Based on the data, the relationships between rail transportation line and land use are discussed, and combined development pattern is provided in order to integrate the rail transportation construction and high strength land use. New developed area development may be driven by the rail transportation construction. At the same time, passenger transfer system and rail transportation should be efficiently joined, and measures should be taken to develop the areas around the transit station. Finally, transport construction and land development are integrated to realize interactive development in the course of new district development and rail transportation construction.

Abstract:It is of great importance to optimize the schemes of long through-type bus lines to adapt to the urban rail transit network. Focusing on the long through-type bus lines close to metro stations, a bilevel programming model on the adjustment schemes of bus lines is proposed, taking the impacts of urban rail transit network into account. The upper level model aims at adjusting the setting decisions of stop stations and vehicle headways of bus lines to minimize the passenger travel cost and maximize the benefits of bus operators. The lower level model is a passenger flow assignment model based on Logit-SUE considering the crowding perception of passengers in bus vehicles. Moreover, the constraint of average load factor of the bus line sections is considered. Then the genetic algorithm is applied to solve the proposed model, and a numerical example is conducted to verify the effectiveness. Results show that the value of the objective function of the model is improved by 27.2%, in comparison with the original scheme. Even though the average travel cost of passengers increases slightly, the bus line operation cost and the imbalance degree of load factors are reduced by 46.1% and 18.6%, respectively. The sensitivity analyses show that it is better to divide the long through-type bus line into several separate bus lines with independent operation, respectively, under the condition of unbalanced passenger flow distribution. Meanwhile, the multiple bus lines are more adapted to the unbalanced passenger flow distribution when the weight of the benefits of the bus operators in the total objective function is bigger. Besides, the lower time value that the passengers perceive, the more passengers willing to take bus than metro trains. As the increment of the passenger time value, the combination of feeder bus lines and a longer bus line is better for passengers’ trip demand than the long through-type bus line.

Abstract:Ma'anshan City, located in the Yangtze River Delta region, is a demonstration city for handling the industrial transfer of the Nanjing, Hefei, and Wanjiang Metropolitan Areas in China. Developing and utilizing underground space can effectively alleviate the land scarcity issue in urban development. The suitability evaluation of underground space development in Ma'anshan City offers valuable information support for the economic and efficient use of land resources. Drawing on POI, night light radiance, and population data, this study selects six indices, including POI kernel density, road node connection rate, night light radiance in the most recent year, change amplitude of night light radiance over the years, population density in the most recent year, and change amplitude of population density over the years. The study conducts a comparative analysis of the suitability of underground space development in Ma'anshan City using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Combination Weight Method. Comparing the results of AHP and Combination Weight Method reveals that the latter can identify a more extensive range of highly suitable development zones than the former. This study provides an effective method for evaluating the suitability of underground space development in urban planning, which contributes to promoting sustainable urban development.

Abstract:According to the present economic condition of our country, it is difficult to lay out stations of traffic-information obtaining on all sections of the roadway network. The scientific method should be used by choosing some sections that have priorities. The cluster analysis method is applied to evaluate the importance of all sections of the road network, determine the cluster index of the more important sections, make stepwise regression by using the traffic volume data of congener highway sections over the years. Thus the laying out scheme for traffic-information obtaining stations is acquired.

Abstract:System theory and intelligent system methods are increasingly introduced into the study of social economy system. This study applied the fuzzy theory to the arterial road project evaluation in Yangtze River Delta. It is an important stage in transportation planning. Highroad quality is a composite of various attributes, among them many separated attributes always lack of pertinency and comparability. This characteristic introduces the obstacles for respondent in project assessment. In order to overcome the issue, we invited trapezoidal fuzzy theory in obtaining criteria weights and AHP in ranking. Several programming schemes were evaluated on the hasis of this method and it is testified to be simple, scientific and applicable.

Abstract:In order to reduce the impact of highway passenger transportation hubs on urban internal traffic operations and improve the efficiency of external travel, a method to determine the location of such hubs based on POI data and the Dijkstra algorithm is proposed. Firstly, the process of connecting the starting point of travel in the city to the urban road node and the highway exit is analyzed. Taking the minimum total time cost as the objective function, the mathematical model of the location method of a highway passenger transportation hub is established. Then, an algorithm for solving the mathematical model is proposed. In the solution method, the concept of "equivalent distance" is introduced into the Dijkstra algorithm to calculate the shortest path for passengers traveling on the urban road network. Weighted random numbers are generated to simulate the choice of highway exits when intercity coaches carrying passengers leave the city. Finally, Zhengzhou City is taken as an example for application analysis. The calculation is carried out using a script written in Python. The calculation results of the proposed method are compared with the results of the P -median model and the current locations of hubs. The results show that the proposed method consumes less time than the P -median method. The total time cost is also lower, which can reduce the time for passengers to leave the city. The location of the highway passenger transportation hub is closer to the periphery of the city and highway nodes, which conforms to the engineering practice and development trend of hub location so as to reduce its impact on urban internal traffic.
