Abstract:Studied in accordance with computer vision system, this article puts forward the major problems existing in the hardware embodying levels of vision system. Then it explores new ideas in resolving these problems, and puts forward a vision processing system based on FPGA in the need of stereo vision system. As FPGA can be reconstructed freely, it can take charge of some computing work to strengthen the real time issue of visual processing. The system can be well applied to 3-D stereo vision system as a front-end graphic grabbing device and co-processor.

Abstract:In view of the problems of large memory footprint and low lookup efficiency existing in the present software implementation of the EPA (Ethernet for plant automation) communication schedule algorithm, the paper proposes a hardware implementation method based on the field programmable gate array (FPGA). This method adopts a strategy of storing messages intensively and constructing communication schedule lists separately, and based on this, devises a parallel processing scheme for lookup of the communication schedule lists. The results of the test on a platform with a Altera Cyclone II FPGA as the main controller show that compared with the software implementation, this implementation method decreases the consumption of memory resources, enhances the message lookup efficiency by 9 times, and doubles the performance of communication.

Abstract:In order to realize real-time depth detection of structured light system,simplify framework of structured light system and reduce cost,design structured light depth detection system based on field programmable gate array(FPGA).Structured light image processing algorithm is modified adapt to hardware,use pipe-lining technology of hardware system and parallel computing techniques,improve processing performance of system,propose ping-pang cache structure.Box filtering and parallel pixel processing computation increase processing speed,and ensure the real-time performance of algorithm.Experiment shows that this system can realize depth detection function and processing speed is far superior to software processing,which meets the real-time requirements.

Abstract:In the past few years, there has been significant progress in the communications and computer technology, which requires stable, clear video image display. On the other hand, conventional analog video processing method, due to its intrinsic limitations, can not meet the requirement of high quality and high speed operation. Meanwhile, the digital video processing technique that integrates with the computer technology is growing rapidly. In this paper, we introduce the art of FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) that has been widely used for video signal processing, and develop the video signal acquisition and processing system that based on FPGA, thereby achieve real-time video signal acquiring, processing, and transferring.

Abstract:The latest multiprocessor platforms are ideal for implementing multi-OS embedded applications. IPC (inter-processor communication) interface makes it possible for a multiprocessor system to easily support multiple subsystems parallel processing. In this paper, we propose a new type of OS-level communication interface designing based-on CMPS (complementary multiprocessor system) and present the primary principles and corresponding driver structure of HP I (host-port interface). Take a single-board embedded multimedia system which was integrated three embedded microprocessors (PXA255, TMS320DM642 and SM501) as hardware platform, detailed description of how implement tasks communication and A/V (audio/video) data transform via HPI between different OS(Linux and muC/OS-II) running on ARM and DSP separately.

Abstract:In recent years, Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) have evolved rapidly paving the way for a whole new range of computing paradigms. On the other hand, computer applications are evolving. There is a rising demand for a system that is general-purpose and yet has the processing abilities to accommodate current trends in application processing. This work proposes a design and implementation of a tightly-coupled FPGA-based dual-processor platform. We architect a platform that optimizes the utilization of FPGA resources and allows for the investigation of practical implementation issues such as cache design. The performance of the proposed prototype is then evaluated, as different configurations of a uniprocessor and a dual-processor system are studied and compared against each other and against published results for common industry-standard CPU platforms. The proposed implementation utilizes the Nios II 32-bit embedded soft-core processor architecture designed for the Altera Cyclone III family of FPGAs.

Abstract:A solution is proposed to overcome the disadvantage that most module systems that adopt 80486 processor are lower in the integration and slower in the bus transmission speed.While using PCI bus to improve the system's performance,this design integrates some function modules into FPGA in the form of Intellectual Property(IP) Core.So the module has high integration and realizes the minimized design.It is proved through verification that it is rational and feasible,and it can improve the system performance,meanwhile features high integration,flexible configuration,and strong universality.

Abstract:This paper describes the design and development of a computer interface experimental platform based on the recent FPGA.The new type of FPGA features increased logic density,embedded high-speed transceivers,PCIe core,and DSP processing piece[1].Its software tools can support logic design,embedded development,Matlab binding,simulation,debugging,and co-design of hardware and software.Therefore,the experimental platform can expand the interface design capabilities.Not only the hardware interface in logical way and system in programmable chip(SOPC) with this platform can be designed,but also the experiments of the DSP signal processing can be done.After the experimental platform is used for teaching,the students can learn the international leading hardware design technologies,so that the contents of the teaching experiments are close to the actual needs of the industry.

In the paper, we design an embedded system with uClinux OS (operating system) based on FPGA. The way and experiences of the co-design of HW/SW are presented. Abstract:Most of embedded multiprocessor platforms are ideal for running diverse operating systems and implementing different applications. Abstract:This paper proposes the design and implementation of a System on Programmable Chip(SoPC) interface to solve the problems of timing control and bit stream downloading of embedded Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA) IP core in the evolvable SoPC.The FPGA interface uses asynchronous FIFO and dual port RAM structure,scalable read/write command transmission to achieve asynchronous communication between FPGA IP core and the system.Embedded CPU achieves the on-chip bit stream configuration of FPGA IP core via FPGA interface.Hardware random number generator in the FPGA interface is used to accelerate the evolutionary algorithm.Automatic verification platform and FPGA prototyping platform are used for the verification of FPGA interface to achieve convergence of verification.Test results show that FPGA interface implements the communication between embedded CPU and FPGA IP core successfully,completes on-chip evolution.

Abstract:This system,which takes the field programmable gate array(FPGA) as logic control unit,sufficiently adopts modularization design,pingpong seamless cache memory and Two-plane page program Flash storage technology,and acquire image data which decoding by video decode chip from high speed CCD camera.The design accomplishes the capture and storage of high speed image,and it insures the reliability and real-time property of the image data during acquiring,transferring and storing them.This system could read and get these image data from Flash by USB2.0 port and will be stored information uploaded to the ground computer and display clear video or picture by the computer software.The results show that this acquisition and storage system could get exact image data and it provideds with preferable feasibility and practicability.

Abstract:As a special-purpose computer system to solve specific problems, the embedded system is very suited to be implemented by the FPGA. However, without fixed hardware architecture, the FPGA-based computing system is mostly a mixture of hardware and software. This kind of system is difficult to design because hardware and software are developed using quite different models of computation. To handle this problem, a FPGA-based platform supporting Java programming language is proposed in this paper. This platform has two aspects: 1) to find the applications amenable to very large speedup using FPGA-based systems, such as computer vision, image processing, microarray analysis and so on. 2) To provide a three level solution making the hardware transparent to application programmers. This platform is expected to provide an effective way to accelerate FPGA-based custom computing to be used in embedded systems.

Abstract:In general, the image processing part is placed on the personal computer (PC) for processing. However, with the amount of data to be processed increases dramatically, the requirement for data processing speed is increasing. Further, a real-time imaging system using Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is implemented, which is designed for a large-array CMOS camera based on USB3.0 interface. Given the advantages of FPGA parallel processing, this design will implement sensor image processing pipeline (IPP) with the FPGA. At the same time, the high speed storage device double data rate (DDR3) is used in the system to cache image data. A Xilinx FPGA is the core processing unit of the entire system, and it completes all the functional modules, including the CMOS driving, data transmission, real-time image stitching and image caching. FPGA-based IPP and DDR3 frame buffer application can improve the video frame rate. Finally, the imaging experimental results show that the large-array CMOS real-time imaging system has a display resolution of 7920*5432 with a stable frame rate of 8.5 fps, and achieves a good balance between speed and efficiency.

Abstract:In the past few years big data applications are becoming diverse and ubiquitous. There is a renewed interest in teaching senior level students to be professional in accelerator based computer architecture design and engineering. However, it poses a significant challenge to tutor the students with sufficient knowledge and practical skills in this area. In this paper, we propose a big data accelerator design project implemented on field-programmable gate array (FPGA) in teaching a computer architecture and organization course. The experimental system is carried out on a heterogeneous architecture using Xilinx Virtex 5 development boards. To achieve a modular accelerator implementation, several milestones are set to facilitate the on-time complete of the project. With the assistance of the FPGA-based experiment, most students have obtained a much more comprehensive understanding of the processor architecture and the accelerator design paradigm. Student feedback and survey illustrates the effectiveness and popularity of the FPGA-based project with milestones over simulation based experiments.

Abstract:As FPGA's is becoming larger,the scablilty,reusability,power consumption issue of the programming/downloading circuit gets more complex.A hierarchy and modular custom circuit of programming/downloading is proposed:new hierarchy addresses LeftE/RigtE are used,column address and frame address are decoupled,wordlinebitline controllers are designed to be reusable.The design makes the programming/downloading circuit easy to expand and reuse with reducing power consumption of wordline controller by 46.6%and bitline controller by 49.6%,at the cost of increasing WL controller and BL controller circuits area by only 0.6%and 0.1%.

Abstract:After analyzing the system architecture and the routine design method of a SCSI controller, one novel design project for the SCSI controller is proposed on the basis of SOPC and soft processor IP core technology. The NIOS soft processor LP core is chosen as the center controller in the application system. Except for NIOS processor, most of the peripherals around the SCSI module, including DMA data channel and data cache control logic, are integrated into one FPGA chip. Comparing with the routine design method, the new project has better features in the expansibility, scalability, improvability and in-system programmability. As an instance, the SCSI to ATA interface system based on SOPC is introduced and given the satisfying I/O speed test results.
