Abstract:Based on the introduction of the concept of submerged plants, the researches of applied status and ecological function of submerged plants in landscape use are summarized. The paper also discusses the design, planting, maintenance and the control of submerged plants for landscape use, by giving the example of the landscape water body creation in the west line of West Lake in Hangzhou. The application value and existed problems of submerged plants used in China are indicated as well.

Abstract:This paper investigates ways of deploying ecological principles in the planning and design practice of landscape architecture. As a modern profession, one of the central tasks of landscape architecture is of protecting and recovering our environment. The profession is now in the demand in China, because of China’s rapid urban development and the consequent environmental problems. A case study of the planning and design of the Li Lake area provides evidence of how the profession is carrying out such a task. The study also identifies the disconnection between ecological and cultural strategies for recovering a particular landscape.
Perennials Selection and Planting Design for Flower Borders in City Landscape of Hangzhou, China

Abstract:Flower borders originated from the West were introduced to China in the 70's. These have been widely recognized and used in city landscape of Hangzhou in recent years. Based on the definition of flower border, the difference in concepts between flower border and bedding plants are discussed. It simulates natural landscapes of various kinds of flowering perennials by artistic design, which made the landscaping more pleasant and showed difference between the traditional bedding style. Flower borders for ten scenic spots in Hangzhou City have been investigated. The selection of ornamental perennials and their landscape use were studied. The results showed that 89 species of perennials are used typically in spring flower borders. The list of 40 commonly used perennials is shown in detail both for characteristics and growth behavior in Hangzhou city. Concerned about the investigation and analysis, 10 kinds of newly introduced perennials were recommended for further utilization. The iconography and comments of three spots were coordinated with the landscape design, so as to achieve the main principles for planting design of flower border. The valuable significance, prospective future, and the existing problems of the perennials utilizations in modern landscape were also discussed.

Abstract:The Yangtze River Delta is the alluvial plain before the longest river in Asia and the largest economic zone in China. It includes Zhejiang Province, Jiangsu Province and direct-controlled municipality Shanghai. As it is facing the most pressure of environment, resources and population with the rapid economic development, construction of ecological parks that can protect natural environments and restore urban environments are essential. And the protection of wetlands plays the key role in ecological landscape construction where many wetlands, lake areas, riverine areas and coastal areas lie. In recent years, China has devoted more and more attention to the construction of Wetland Ecological Parks with the promulgation of "Assessment Standard of National Wetland Park" and "Construction Regulation of National Wetland Park". Typical cases of wetland ecological parks from Yangtze River Delta area are discussed in this paper, including those from Hangzhou City, Taihu Lake area and Chongming Island. Meanwhile, Hong Kong Wetland Park which is acclaimed in the Asia-Pacific region is used as a reference. The design focus, design ideas and landscape elements, especially ecological design of horticulture are summarized in this research based on field survey. Four main construction principles are put forward in order to provide reference for the ecological protection of similar areas.

Abstract:Regarding the analysis of the status and existing problems of the domestic tourism agriculture, the new conception was put forward, which takes agricultural function as the designing core. With the case of Jiaxing Biyun Garden in Zhejiang Province, the planning and design were illustrated for combination of the agricultural production, landscape view as well as the recreational destinations. The layout displayed the characteristics of water scenery and native plants. Ecotourism showed scientifically supported by agricultural production, and the concerned productions were also promoted by tourism agriculture. This kind of ecological farm was proved effective in the past five years' practice that floricultural production was well balanced with gardening design. Being more beautiful and fast developing, the farm has showed a prospective future, and it is indicated as a new model of ecological gardening farm.

Abstract:Perennial flowers have been widely applied in landscape for their advantages of abundant varieties, ample colors, wonderful appearance, convenient management and high landscape value. Base on the analysis of research status at home and abroad about perennials, the paper showed different kinds of styles used in landscape, and promoted some strategies development included deepen the concept of perennial flowers on landscape application, using the perennial wild resources, enrich the forms of plant distribution for diverse landscape designs, and enhance the industrialization process. To further enhance the greening and beautification of urban and rural environment level, fully reflect the species diversity and landscape diversity, then achieve healthy and sustainable development of perennial flowers industries.

Abstract:In the overall urban environment the urban waterfront landscape area plays a dual function of landscape and culture, and is an important incubator for the natural ecology of the city. Therefore, the shaping of the locality of the urban waterfront space is not only to create a beautiful city card, but also to improve the ecology of the city and the inevitable requirements of waterfront landscape construction. This paper first analyses the basic theory of urban waterfront landscape, and then conducts an in-depth study on the principles of urban waterfront landscape design under the ecological design concept. Solutions are proposed for the current problems of urban waterfront landscape design, and feasible landscape design methods are proposed in conjunction with the concept of ecological urbanism. The urban landscape is seen as a resource, guided by the theories of ecology and landscape ecology, and the principles of the ecological design concept, with a view to establishing a harmonious and symbiotic relationship between the environment, the landscape and people, and meeting people's needs and spiritual aspirations.

It is put forwarded that the planting design of flower border should be choosing the proper plants which matched the local climate, and indicating the main scenic styles, as well as showing the continuous scenery with lower maintaining.

Abstract:With global climate change and accelerating urbanization, marine cities face unique environmental challenges. Ecological landscape creation is a form of design planning guided by the disciplines of landscape ecology and ecological aesthetics in the process of urban planning and construction. It seeks a design that can maintain the virtuous cycle of the ecosystem and at the same time maintain the spatial equilibrium of the dynamic development of urban landscapes, so as to make them have good ecological functions and corridor functions. The aim of this study is to explore the ecological design methods of plant landscaping in marine urban green spaces under the concept of sustainability. We first reviewed the concept of sustainable development and its application to urban green space design, especially the special requirements in the marine urban environment. This research focuses on how to select plant species that are adapted to the marine climate and how to promote biodiversity, enhance ecosystem services, and improve the quality of life of urban residents through eco-design approaches. Through the analysis of a number of domestic and international cases of green spaces in marine cities, we found that effective eco-design is not only about choosing the right plant species but also includes the rational management of water resources, soil protection, and ecosystem restoration, among other aspects. This study also points out that public participation and interdisciplinary cooperation play a crucial role in the ecological design process. Finally, this paper carries out a specific analysis of the landscape model landscape evaluation system for the ecological design of plant landscaping in marine urban green spaces and experimentally verifies that, compared with other styles, the experience of the European-style landscape is good overall. However, the view openness rating of the European style landscape is only about 0.42, and the best plant landscaping is the mixed mode of alkali poncho and salt poncho. This study aims to provide a practical reference and guidance for urban planners, landscape architects, and environmentalists.

Abstract:As a unique artistic form, traditional Chinese landscape painting has aesthetic value and a close relationship with garden design. This study mainly explores the principles and practices of landscape design based on traditional Chinese landscape painting. Firstly, it introduces the brief history of the development of traditional Chinese landscape painting and its relationship with garden design. Then, it analyzes the characteristics of traditional landscape painting and garden design principles. Then, the application of traditional Chinese landscape painting in landscape design was analyzed, including landscape layout, plant selection, and matching, as well as the design of buildings and structures. In conclusion, applying traditional Chinese principles in modern landscapes presents inherent challenges that demand thoughtful consideration. As contemporary spaces evolve and adapt to changing needs, integrating traditional elements may face obstacles such as conflicting design philosophies, space constraints, and technological advancements. Addressing these challenges requires a nuanced approach that preserves the essence of traditional principles while accommodating the demands of modern living. This section explores strategies and innovative solutions to overcome these challenges and successfully apply traditional principles in the design of modern landscapes.
Analysis of Factors Influencing Plant Diversity in Urban Wetlands Based on a Structural Equation Model

Abstract:Urban wetlands constitute a pivotal element within urban ecosystems. The implementation of ecologically sound wetland design methods can foster their biodiversity while augmenting overall ecosystem services. This study investigated three urban wetlands—Xixi, Tongjian Lake, and Qingshan Lake wetlands as the core, fringe, and suburban areas, respectively, of Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province, China. The plant species composition of these wetlands was quantified and 33 ecological design methods were accessed across the values of water quality protection, shoreline maintenance, ecological facilities, and plant diversity. Employing structural equation modeling, design methods significantly influencing plant diversity were identified. Key findings reveal: (1) variances in plant species and design methods occurred across wetlands, with the Xixi Wetland in the urban core displaying higher biodiversity; (2) four design methods—ecological conservation measures, rain gardens, complex plant community structure, and increased hydrophytic species populations—significantly impacted wetland plant diversity; (3) divergent pathways of design methods can be used to improve plant diversity in different urban wetlands; and (4) rational ecological design enhances plant diversity but may have time-limited effects, necessitating ongoing management to be effective. It is crucial that land managers ensure urban wetland protection occurs amidst urbanization using carefully tailored land use planning and management while considering wetland functions and characteristics. This research underscores the importance of employing ecological design methods strategically for sustaining and maximizing the benefits of ecosystem services that urban wetlands can provide.

Abstract:The work studied the landscape design and layout using green ecology as support and digital technology as driving force to improve the ecological environment construction and resource management of wetlands. The following concepts were formed, including the integration of biodiversity protection and scientific plants, the integration of water purification and plant-community diversity, and the integration of ecology and leisure. Based on the parametric software platforms of 3D Max, Grasshopper, and ArcGIS, the 3D digital simulation and layout of plant community landscapes were realized to obtain the objective evaluation of the landscape patterns of the design scheme. The results showed that the wetland landscape design presented by this method was vivid, accurate, and efficient, and the landscape layouts of plant communities conformed to the social development concept of green ecology.

Abstract:Abstract In order to relieve the mental pressure in urban life, the ecological landscape park in waterfront area has become the first choice. However, most urban rivers are currently polluted, and worsen the quality of waterfront greening. The paper puts forward the ecological landscape planning of urban waterfront area. The paper expounds the meaning and characteristics of urban waterfront landscape based on Landscape Ecology, including ideas and principles of waterfront ecological landscape design. The waterfront area could be built into humanistic ecological garden landscape and designed rationally plants. The results show that the planning of ecological landscape in waterfront area is consistent with the real landscape, and its idea is expected to provide reference to the planning of waterfront ecological landscape for the city’s future.
