Abstract:Interoperability among healthcare information systems is one of the most challenging problems in healthcare domain. In this paper, we propose a structure of Interoperable Medical Information System based on SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) and Web 2.0 under the framework of Regional Health Information Network. Various components are described in detail, including authentication, data access, and services management and so on. Services for medical information getting are registered and published by the system; users then access the system to search and fetch demanded services and value-added applications. All of the heterogeneous and distributed data and applications are converted to independent services according to international standards. As a result of the use of SOA, the system is levels clearly demarcated with good universality and maintainability.

Abstract:Modem enterprises consist of complex business systems. These systems need to be integrated to support enterprises operation. The SOA and ESB become an important enterprise integration architecture style for designing and implementing integration systems. But there are some limitations of today's ESB framework, such as only syntactic description of service interface, inability to perform semantic mediation and incapable process knowledge management. Therefore developers need deep and intimate knowledge to develop integration systems. We introduce an ontology-based semantic annotation approach to enrich and reconcile semantics of data, services and process models on ESB that enables data, service and process models interoperability on the semantic level through common domain ontologies.

Abstract:Clinical decision support systems (CDSSs) have been proved as an efficient way to improve health care quality. However, the inflexibility in integrating multiple clinical practice guidelines (multi-CPGs), the mass input workload of patient data, and the difficulty in system sharing become barriers of CDSSs implementation. In this paper, we proposed a framework of CDSS for chronic disease based on ontology and service-oriented architecture (SOA) to improve these defects. We used ontology for knowledge base construction on multi-CPGs integration to overcome their differences as well as reduce the input procedure of patient data by ontology reasoning. Furthermore, we built the CDSS on an SOA structure to provide flexibility in system and data sharing, such that patients could get suggestions from the same system for self-management of chronic disease. A typical case was used to validate the CDSS functions and accuracy. Two clients were developed to illustrate the SOA superiority.

Abstract:Software architecture is the backbone of a software- intensive system, many architecture models and styles are struggling to make the artifacts more understandable and reusable. Service-oriented programming is proposed to support reusing and enhancing distributed system development and a service-oriented architecture is essentially a collection of services which communicate with each other. However, the practitioners face the trouble in defining the services and identifying the communication request between all the services. Here in this paper, we adopted a role based architecture model named E-CARGO to facilitate the service definition and communication request identifying. An experience was conducted in prototyping a community support system and E-CARGO model was extended with data and authority access in the case study. The case study indicated that the suggested model could facilitate communication request identifying and service definition and could be helpful in identifying the authority control request during role shifting.

Abstract:Starting from an existent information system and analyzing problems that the system are confronted due to the growing business and the changing environments, this paper points out that information system should be recon- structed from the perspective of the service-oriented architecture. According to the basic rules of construeting SOA sys- tem, the paper describes the reconstructions of a representative case of information system from the aspects of the re- quest states, the diversities of request means and interfaces, and software architectures. The methods of SOA recon- struction and software architecture design proposed in this paper and the advantages brought by SOA reconstruetions have universal significance.

Abstract:SOA has been the effective technical solution to enterprise application integration and business process rebuilding. The paper presents a reference implementation scheme of Commercial Bank Card System based on SOA. In requirement tier, the implementation plan first establishes the full concept model and logical model of Commercial Bank Card System from business request(business use case-business step-atomic business) to system request (system use case-system step-atomic component), then in semantics tier, we give out full description of the model through the combination of OWL and BPEL. At last a SOA's three-tier framework of "requirement-semantics-service" has been built for the Commercial Band Card System.

Abstract:There are many differences between knowledge service products and realistic products.The most important characteristics of knowledge service products are: no logistics,high cost of making a match,long term business and hard to intermediate.An overview of the recent models of e-commerce is presented.Four full-lifecycle process models of the knowledge service product are given.The system architecture of the knowledge service exchange platform which is based on Service-Oriented Architecture(SOA) and Web2.0 are shown.Analysis theory shows that the platform is a scalable and reusable one,which supports dynamic processes.

Abstract:To avoid the isolation between the external and the internal information of enterprise information systems,a four-layer integrated framework is proposed on the basis of integrating Web2.0 and the service-oriented architecture (SOA), which contains the data layer,the service layer,the presentation layer and the collaboration layer.The presentation layer plays the key role,converging the external information from the collaboration layer to the inside of information system (IS),and diffusing the internal information from the service layer to public users.This framework can also illustrate how users contribute to producing new services,and how web services are integrated to collaborate with public users.

Abstract:Driven by the requirement of environment-adaptable business, Service-oriented Architecture (SOA) emerges with promising goals such as agility, flexibility, reusability and efficiency. Before reaching the goals, however, numerous and various challenges are still obstructing the success of SOA implementation. To efficiently deal with existing challenges, we can use an interdisciplinary approach to explore technology independent strategies as valuable and necessary supplements to technical concerns when implementing SOA. Through presenting an organizational view to comprehend SOA and treating SOA implementations as organizational activities, this paper employs useful knowledge in the organization theory area to inspire the research into technology independent strategies of SOA implementation. As a result, four preliminary strategies that can be applied to human organizations are identified to support building SOA systems. Furthermore, the interdisciplinary approach to investigating the success of SOA implementation is revealed, which encourages interdisciplinary research across service-oriented computing and organization theory.

Abstract:Service-oriented Architecture (SOA) is one method to integrate and construct loose-coupling software systems. It turns the distributed enterprise applications and new systems into software service on Internet. Traditional enterprise application integrating (EAI) method cannot meet the requirements of operation flexibility, extensibility and loose-coupling integration. This paper proposes the function model of one service-oriented EAI platform (UAP) and its realization mechanism. By turning existing enterprise applications into one integrated system and distributing the services, UAP has provided one SOA based integrating platform for enterprise applications. The above model is implemented and validated in a J2EE application server to integrate the application systems of one group company. The experiments show that the model manifests high operation flexibility, scalability, loose-coupling character and low integrating workload.

Abstract:SOA (Service-oriented architecture) Solution Model involves SOA associated reference architecture, e-commerce patterns, methodologies and best practices ranging from the beginning to the end of a complete SOA project. A new Solution Model is presented. Service is the kernel and process is the breakthrough point of business innovation in this model. A series of widely acceptable standards, such as SDO (Service Data Object), SCA (Service Component Architecture) and BPEL (Business Process Execution Language), are adopted in this model. Analysis, design, implementation and management methodologies and best practices are covered in this model. By analyzing the characteristic, mechanism and function of the model, we give a real-world example to illustrate how this Solution Model can be used in practice. © 2008 IEEE.

Abstract:To integrate distributed information systems in group companies, people favor the Service-Oriented-Architecture (SOA) for its features such as loose-coupling and standardization. But SOA brings security problems. Consequently, an authentication and authorization solution is proposed in this paper. By designing security architecture based on Service-Access-Agent, this solution can simplify the security program, and bring good to the system flexibility and loose coupling, thereby meet the integrated system's requirements for dynamics and agility. This solution has been applied to a project of “national 863 plan”, and shown its validity in engineering practices.

Abstract:In this paper, we present the framework of Semantic and Automatic Service Orchestration (SASO) system for Web services modeling and composition. The SASO system has the following features: 1) it adopts a semantic approach to model Web services, and 2) it supports a Web service selection policy based on user preferences. First, we express services in their semantics so that relations among the services can be identified through ontology modeling, which is to be accomplished in two steps: input/output parameter modeling and Web service modeling. Then, we provide an algorithm for automatic service composition with a selection policy that addresses user priority. This relieves users from the tasks of manually browsing, monitoring, and composing Web services. Furthermore, SASO supports fuzzy composition of Web services when exact Web services cannot be found In SASO, composition plans are represented by graphs that can be interactively modified. These graphs are compiled into executable code to carry out the composite service. Our empirical results demonstrate that SASO not only finds the appropriate services for composition but also the best plan to execute them.

Abstract:The service-oriented architecture (SOA) can greatly improve the collaboration of devices in a distributed environment. With this architecture, human can be liberated from the burdensome configuration and management of distributed systems, especially when the nodes of the systems are dynamically changed. In this paper, we present a method to implement service-oriented distributed systems in industry. As a case study, we present a service-oriented Status Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis Systems (SMFDS) for large equipment. Our work is based on the UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) technology. Through abstracting the interfaces of devices and providing service middleware in an independent thread or process, the SOA can be easily implemented on an existing system with the least modifications. This characteristic is very useful when upgrading an existing system, for cost and risk consideration.

Expert Systems with Applications

Abstract:A service-oriented travel portal is proposed to realize a classic business model with SOA paradigm. It provides tourists with composite travel packages through dynamic composition among travel-related services from distributed providers and across business domains. Further, a devoted service-oriented engineering platform (SOEP) is reengineered and customized for travel portals based on authors’ previous work and a travel portal project’s use scenario. The platform is driven by four models: service meta-model, process model, business model and global information model. These models support semantic description and rational operations of the application, and facilitate travel service discovery, process execution and business to business integration. The travel portal provides a real SOA application and well-defined business and service cases to improve the platform. The SOEP provides a professional implementation environment for service-oriented travel portals, and it could be customized for the service-oriented systems of other industries using a similar framework and approaches to those presented in this article.

Abstract:SOA, service oriented architecture, is becoming popular and the prevalent approach for realizing modern services and system. And how to carry out quality control according to the method of SOA is now being widely studied. Especially, the QoS based on composition of Web service has been studied widely. In this paper, the study mainly concerns the reliability under the environment of SOA. A novel framework of evaluation under reliability has proposed. At the same time, the evaluation model is based on decomposition of reliability quality that used in pervasive computing. This framework brought forward considering the quality information of Web service composite by defining specific reliability evaluation characteristics in Web service. The reliability of SOA can be improved under the given case in practice.

Abstract:Exploring the ocean is an important activity for human being to understand our earth. A powered, high-bandwidth cabled facility linking the seafloor observatory instrumentation to shore and to the public in real time provides many advantages. The Seafloor Observatory Network (SONet) affords that platform for scientists to inquiry and analyses observed data, for the government to monitor the changing environment, and for the public to have an intuitive understanding of the ocean. SONet has to integrate data acquisition, data storage, data management and data display of tons of observatory instruments, all of which provide different kind of data format. A service-oriented architecture (SOA) based system is designed for the SONet to tackle these problems.
