Abstract:Objective:To investigate whether acupuncture peripheral nerves promoted recovery of central nerve injury or not,and to provide a few superficial suggestion for electric-acupuncture promoting nerve regeneration after spinal cord injury.Methods:24 SD adult female rats were randomly divided into three groups. There were 8 rats in each group, and they were forced to completely transect spinal cord at the T 11 level.Electric-acupuncture was performed in peripheral acupoints including Zusanli,Xuanzhong,Futu and Sanyinjiao.21 days after being damaged or 21 days of electric-acupuncture,these experimental rats were detected by the cortex somatosensory evoked potential(CSEP)with clinical somatosensory evoked instrument. Results:CSEP showed that there was no statistical difference in P1 incubatiom period and P1-N1 wave amplitude between 21 days after being damaged and 21 days of electric-acupuncture(P0.05),compared with normal group, without obvious difference except P1-N1 wave amplitude(P0.05),but with obvious difference in P1 incubatiom period(P0.05).Conclusion:The key to electric-acupuncture promoting nerve regeneration is to choose corresponding acupoints according to the types of injury;in the meantime, showing that acupuncturing peripheral nerves doesn't favour recovery of central nerve injury.
