Abstract:Knoevenagel condensation of aromatic aldehydes with active methylene compounds such as malononitrile, ethylcyanoacetate, benzimidazol-2-acetonitrile and benzothiazole-2-acetonitrile proceeded very smoothly, catalyzed by nano-Fe3O4 encapsulated-silica particles supported primary amine. Both reaction time and yield are satisfying. The advantages of this catalyst are ease of preparation, non-toxicity, low cost, ease of handling and recyclability.

Abstract:A series of Mg(Ca)Zr-doped acid-base bifunctional mesoporous silica were synthesized to study the impact of the one-step or two-step impregnation method on material structure. The two-step method seems to be a better way to synthesize metal-based functionalized catalyst and their catalytic performance is investigated using deacetalization-Knoevenagel reaction as the probe reaction. The coexisting dual active sites and suitable designing routes endowed highly efficient (Conv. >99.6%, Sel. >99.8%) and robust stability (10 consecutive cycles) of these materials. The present process succeeded in preparing catalysts decorated with acid-base sites by doping acidic and alkali metal species rather than grafting organic groups.

Abstract:A magnetically separable NiFe2O4 nanoparticle catalyst was prepared readily via a simple one-step hydrothermal process. The catalytic performance of this hetero-nanostructure was investigated by Kneovenagel condensation with aldehydes and active methylene compounds under mild conditions. The newly designed catalyst exhibited a prominent catalytic activity with 99.5% conversion, 99% selectivity and excellent yields, which is compatible with various aldehydes and active methylene compounds with good conversion and high selectivity as well. This easily separated hybrid (NiFe2O4), by exerting an external magnetic field, could be recycled for eight times without significant loss, which started a new era for low-cost fabrication of CC bond for extending usage in a large scale, especially in pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry.

Abstract:Amine functionalized silica coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles (SiO2@MNP-A) were successfully prepared as a novel heterogeneous amine. The catalyst was characterized by XRD, FT-IR, TEM, magnetic measurement, elemental analysis and was found to be a magnetically separable and highly active catalyst for ambient Knoevenagel condensation of aromatic aldehydes and α-aromatic (heteroaromatic or polyaromatic)-substituted methylene compounds in water under ultrasonic irradiation to afford the corresponding products in good to excellent yields. Very interestingly, SiO2@MNP-A successfully catalyze the reaction of the non-cyano substituted compound with benzaldehyde to achieve a key intermediate for the preparation of Atorvastatin calcium in green and atom-economic manner. In addition, the catalyst SiO2@MNP-A can be reused for 8 times without any obvious loss of its activity. The role of ultrasonication in the Knoevenagel condensation was also discussed with the assistance of UV–vis spectrometry.

Abstract:A magnetic nanoparticles-supported chiral aminocyclohexane in combination with sulfamide, which was modified by an imidazolium ionic moiety, was prepared and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), thermal gravimetric (TG) analysis and elementary analysis. The catalyst was successfully applied not only in the enantioselective Michael addition but also in the asymmetric aldol condensation to afford good to excellent yields (70-94%) and satisfactory stereoselectivity (ee: 92-100%, dr: 91:9-99:1).The role of the ionic moiety was verified by comparison of the catalyst with an ionic moiety-free counterpart. The heterogeneous catalyst was easily separated and recovered using external magnetic force and can be used for up to five times without obvious loss in its catalytic activity.

Abstract:In this research, SBA-amino-amido-carboxylic acid (SBA-NH-NHCO-COOH) is synthesized by nucleophilic substitution of SBA propylchloride (SBA-Cl) with ethylene diamine and then maleic anhydride. To classify the acid–base composite, the infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential thermal analysis (DTA), and Brunauer-Emmett–Teller (BET) measurements are used. The one-pot synthesis of 1-amidoalkyl-2-naphthols using three-component couplings of β-naphthol, aromatic aldehydes, and acetamide with a 0.05 g of catalyst in ethanol under reflux condition, successfully demonstrated the nanocomposite's catalytic activity. Furthermore, 1 H and 13 C chemical shift values, X-ray spectra, and the structural characteristics of 1‐amidoalkyl‐2‐naphthols compounds have also been studied in depth. The experimental data are compared with the values derived from DFT measurements, which included chemical shifts and structural parameters. The calculated 1 H and 13 C chemical shifts, as well as X-ray spectra, agree well with those obtained experimentally. Based on obtained results, it can be concluded that this new catalyst has many benefits, including high yields (85–91%), high catalytic activity, short reaction time, simple technique, and quick set-up.

Abstract:Montmorillonite (K 10 ) loaded on magnetite silica-coated nanoparticles was made using simple co-precipitation methods. The prepared nanocat-Fe-Si-K 10 was analyzed using some techniques including field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), inductive coupling plasma-optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transmission-infrared spectra (FT-IR), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and wavelength-dispersive spectroscopy (WDX). The catalytic activity of the synthesized nanocat-Fe-Si-K 10 has been examined in one-pot multicomponent transformations for the synthesis of 1-amidoalkyl 2-naphthol derivatives under solvent-free conditions. Nanocat-Fe-Si-K 10 was determined to be very active, having the ability to be reused 15 times without significant loss of catalytic activity. The suggested technique has several advantages, including excellent yield, minimum reaction time, a straightforward workup, and catalyst recycling, all of which are essential green synthetic aspects.

Abstract:A novel series of 2-amino-3-(2-oxothiazol-methyl)-substituted-1,4-naphthoquinone compounds were designed and prepared, by the three-component one-pot reaction of 2-aminothiazole, 2-hydroxy-1-4-naphthoquinone and aromatic aldehydes using of nano-SiO2 (20% mol) as an efficient Lewis acid and heterogeneous nano-catalyst in acetonitrile at room temperature in the period of time 2–5 h. Silica-based materials used for developing an environmental friendly methodology for the preparation of potential biologically active molecular scaffolds. The direction of product formation and the structure of all the synthesized compounds were identified by spectroscopic methods. The remarkable superiorities of this procedure include good yields (70–89%), use of an inexpensive and commercially available catalyst, regioselectivity and simple work-up.

Abstract:The Fe3O4@C core-shell magnetic nanoparticles with an average size of about 190 nm were synthesized via a one-pot solvothermal process using ferrocene as a single reactant. The sulfonic acid-functionalized Fe3O4@C magnetic nanoparticles were obtained by grafting the sulfonic groups on the surface of Fe3O4@C nanoparticles to produce magnetically recyclable solid acid catalysts. The as-prepared products were characterized by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The catalytic performance of the as-prepared catalysts was examined through the condensation reaction of benzaldehyde and ethylene glycol. The results showed that the catalysts exhibited high catalytic activity with a conversion rate of 88.3% under mild conditions. Furthermore, catalysts with a magnetization saturation of 53.5 emu g(-1) at room temperature were easily separated from the reaction mixture by using a 0.2 T permanent magnet and were reused 8 times without any significant decrease in catalytic activity.

Abstract:1-Amidoalkyl-2-naphthol derivatives have been synthesized via solvent-free three-component reaction between various aldehydes, β-naphthol, and urea or benzamide by using 2 mol % of Ag-TiO 2 nanocomposite as an efficient benign heterogeneous catalyst at 110°C. The catalyst was easily recycled and reused up to three times without significant loss in activity. The proposed method provides significant benefits, including benign conditions, atom economy, low amount of the catalyst, the use of low-cost, accessible, and recyclable nanocomposite catalyst, and no need of chromatographic purification of the target products.

Abstract:Economical use of magnetic nanoparticles for the synthesis of diversified compounds has been presented. Concerning the objectives of green chemistry, silica‐coated magnetite nanoparticles provide a new way to implement an efficient and effective system for assisting catalyst recovery across multiple organic reactions. With Fe3O4 spheres serving as the core shell, the synthesis of sulfonic acid‐functionalized silica‐coated magnetic nanoparticles is presented in this paper. FTIR, PXRD, SEM, TEM, EDX, TGA, XPS, and VSM techniques were used to assess the prepared catalyst. The proposed nanocatalyst was employed to produce biological relevance 2‐substituted benzimidazole and bis indole methane derivatives. High yield, quick reaction time, soothing reaction conditions, extended functional group tolerance, and an accessible workup approach are the main advantages of synthesized nanoparticles. Furthermore, the present nanocatalyst may be recovered using an external magnet and retaining its effectiveness for up to six cycles. These are distinctive functions of the present approach.

Abstract:Nanoparticles have emerged as a critical catalyst substrate due to their exceptional features, such as catalytic efficiency, high stability, and easy recovery. In our research, we have developed an innovative and environmentally friendly magnetic mesoporous nanocatalyst. Using the co-precipitation method, we produced magnetic nanoparticles (Fe 3 O 4 ) and coated them with Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) to enhance their surface area and chemical stability. The resulting substrate was functionalized with 1-aza-18-crown-6-ether and nickel metal. Our prepared catalyst has been rigorously evaluated using advanced techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Brunauer-Emmet-Teller (BET), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDS), inductively coupled plasma (ICP), elemental mapping analysis (EMA), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). By synthesizing acridine derivatives, we have demonstrated the exceptional efficiency of our catalyst in organic compound synthesis. Through optimization, we have established the ideal parameters for catalytic processes, including catalyst amount, temperature, time, and ultrasonic use. Our catalyst has been proven to exhibit remarkable physical and chemical properties, such as porosity, temperature resistance, and recyclability. Notably, our heterogeneous nanocatalyst has shown outstanding performance and can be recycled six times without any loss in efficiency, affirming its potential in acridine.

Abstract:A nickel ferrite nanocatalyst was synthesized in the presence of simple and cost-effective polysorbates assisted sol gel method as an effective catalyst has been successfully used for one pot multicomponent Hantzsch condensation reaction of different aromatic aldehydes, dimedone and ammonium acetate under solvent-free condition at 110 °C-120 °C. The highlights feature for the synthesis of acridinediones are the recyclability of catalyst, solvent-free reaction condition, use of inexpensive catalyst, highly efficient, facile product isolation, clean reaction, nontoxic substances and great yields in short reaction time. The recovered catalyst can run four times without loss its activity.

Abstract:Green and recyclable solid acid catalysts are in urgent demand as a substitute for conventional liquid mineral acids. In this work, a series of novel sulfonic acid-functionalized core-shell Fe3O4@carbon microspheres (Fe3O4@C-SO3H) have been designed and synthesized as an efficient and recyclable heterogeneous acid catalyst. For the synthesis, core-shell Fe3O4@RF (resorcinol-formaldehyde) microspheres with tunable shell thickness were achieved by interfacial polymerization on magnetic Fe3O4 microspheres. After high-temperature carbonization, the microspheres were eventually treated by surface sulfonation, resulting in Fe3O4@C-Fe3O4@ (x stands for carbonization temperature) microspheres with abundant surface SO3H groups. The obtained microspheres possess uniform core-shell structure, partially-graphitized carbon skeletons, superparamagnetic property, high magnetization saturation value of 10.6 emu/g, and rich SO3H groups. The surface acid amounts can be adjusted in the range of 0.59-1.04 mmol/g via sulfonation treatment of carbon shells with different graphitization degrees. The magnetic Fe3O4@C-x-SO3H microspheres were utilized as a solid acid catalyst for the acetalization reaction between benzaldehyde and ethylene glycol, demonstrating high selectivity (97%) to benzaldehyde ethylene glycol acetal. More importantly, by applying an external magnetic field, the catalysts can be easily separated from the heterogeneous reaction solutions, which later show well preserved catalytic activity even after 9 cycles, revealing good recyclability and high stability. Abstract:This study demonstrates the successful synthesis of sulfosalicylic acid-functionalized silica-coated magnetic nanoparticles, referred to as MNPs-SSA, as a reusable heterogeneous acid catalyst through a straightforward process. The catalytic efficiency of this innovative material was evaluated using the one-pot, three-component Biginelli reaction under solvent-free conditions. The enhanced reaction conditions described here facilitate the synthesis of a wide variety of substituted dihydropyrimidinones, resulting in high purity and excellent yields in a short reaction time. Furthermore, the catalyst exhibited remarkable thermal stability and could be easily recovered from the reaction mixture using an external magnetic field, enabling multiple consecutive uses without a significant decrease in its catalytic efficiency.
