Abstract:This study introduced medical insurance system for urban and town residents in some cities,and analyzed adverse selection problem caused by high risk of the safeguarded object and forms taken by the voluntary participation. It is thought that the gradual integration between the methodology of risk avoidance and the medical insurance system of urban and town residents is easy to take mandatory measures for dispersing risk.Therefore,the following suggestions were put forward: firstly,the national and integrated suggestions on implementing and guiding are introduced to improve level of overall planning;secondly,the government strengthens investment to public health and community health services.

Abstract:In the process of comprehensively promoting the construction of a multi-level medical security system in China, it is very important to clarify the impact of commercial health insurance. In order to better promote the development of commercial health insurance, we explore the effect of commercial health insurance development on economic efficiency. Theoretical analysis shows that, in addition to providing health risk protection for residents, commercial health insurance can also promote the coordinated development of the health industry chain, promote risk reduction, accumulate capital, and contribute to high-quality economic development. Empirically, this study indexes a commercial health insurance development index that is more in line with China's development reality. In addition, this study compiles the economic efficiency index from the three dimensions of economic development basis, social benefits and industrial changes. We measure the commercial health insurance development index and economic efficiency index in 31 regions from 2007 to 2019, and further econometric analysis is carried out on this basis. It is found that the development of commercial health insurance can promote economic efficiency, and this result is robust. Meanwhile, the impact of commercial health insurance on economic efficiency is restricted by the economic environment itself, and the more developed the economy is, the more obvious this effect will be. Therefore, the development of commercial health insurance will significantly benefit the construction of China's multi-level medical security system and promote regional economic efficiency.

Abstract:China has proposed a strategy of moving towards universal healthcare coverage,and commercial health insurance plays an important role in its institutional framework.At present,commercial health insurance is still at an early stage of development.It plays an insignificant part in health financing in China,and fails to perform its function of spreading financial risks of medical expenses for potential enrollees.Therefore,there is tremendous space for development of commercial health insurance in China.Among the factors affecting its development are inadequate strength and modes of government support from the outside and low degree of professionalization inside of the sector.Against the background of the government′s launching new healthcare reforms,commercial health insurance will witness strategic opportunities for development in the near future,namely,third-party management of public health insurance funds,insurance for critical illnesses,and supplemental healthcare insurance.The key is to develop a mutually beneficial public-private partnership between commercial insurers and social health insurance system.

Abstract:Facing difficulties like increasing health burden and health inequity, China government started to promote commercial health insurance (CHI) in recent decades. Several policies and announcement have been issued to build up a favorable environment for development of commercial health insurance. Meanwhile, scholar tried to investigate the related issues in purpose to further improve the situation in China. Therefore, we performed this systematic review in order depict a comprehensive picture on the current evidence-based researches of CHI in China. We searched PubMed, ScienceDirect, and CNKI, supplemented with hand search in reference lists, for eligible studies published from 1990 January to 2018 April. Also, hand search was conducted to select suitable articles from international organization and reference list of eligible articles. Two independent reviewers extracted the data from eligible articles and input into a standardized form. Based on the inclusion criteria, 35 articles were included in this systematic review. Most of the studies were quantitative researches with topics such as the development level of commercial health insurance in China, the demand and supply issues related, and the relationship and influence of social health insurance, as well as the moral issues evolved from commercial health insurance system. In summary, CHI in China is still at the early development stage. Among those few evidence-based articles, the findings suggested several policy implication and different market strategy. With the initiation of new health reforms and implementation of taxes policy, more empirical researches should be conducted on issues relating to the practical operation of CHI.

Abstract:As one of the important components of China's basic medical security system, commercial health insurance not only provides supplementary security for people in addition to basic medical insurance, but also has great significance for the stable development of society. Using a linear regression model based on the panel data of 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions from 2011 to 2019, this paper summarized the problems and describes status quo of the development of China's commercial health insurance to empirically analyze the influencing factors of China’s commercial health insurance and provide suggestions to promote its good development.

Abstract:Finding a suitable mechanism to finance long-term care (LTC) is a pressing policy concern for many countries. Using Qingdao city in China as a case study, this article presents an initial assessment of a newly piloted LTC insurance by evaluating its effects on equity and efficiency in financing. Drawing data from 47 in-depth interviews conducted in 2016, this study found that there remain sizable disparities in financial burden among insurance participants, despite an emphasis on ensuring equitable access to care. Although the insurance brought cost savings to the health care sector, the LTC providers are incentivized to provide care at the least cost, even when such care is deemed inadequate due to the fixed payment for their services. This article offers critical insights into the potentials and challenges of applying the LTC insurance model in a developing country, where critical lessons can be drawn for public LTC insurance in other countries.
The Effect of Commercial Health Insurance and Health Policy Incentives on Health Risk Assessment of Residents

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Due to the limitations of social medical insurance, commercial medical insurance is necessary. OBJECTIVE: The study aims to analyze the practical effects of commercial health insurance and health policy incentives. METHODS: The health risk assessment is performed referring to data released by China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). RESULTS: The effect coefficient of commercial health insurance for residents’ four-week prevalence is 0.067, with that for residents’ self-evaluation health being –0.032, and that for residents’ rate of medical treatment being 0.094, which is significant at the 0.01 level. Commercial health insurance has different effects on residents’ mental health. The residents who purchase commercial health insurance have 8.2%higher anxiety degree and 7.3%higher depression degree; however, their sleep condition index increases by 5.7%. CONCLUSIONS: Commercial health insurance can’t improve the four-week prevalence or self-evaluation health significantly. Nevertheless, it can improve the medical treatment rate. Commercial health insurance exhibits complicated results in terms of residents’ mental health levels. Although it has definitely improved the quality of sleep and well-being of residents and reduced loneliness, it can negatively affect mental health indexes such as anxiety and depression.

In recent years, everything around us has been "digitized", and emerging concepts and technologies such as smart medical care, Internet of Things health care, and mobile medical care have attracted the general attention of the medical and health industry and the information and communication industry, and are being widely used. With the rapid development of big data, it brings opportunities for the development of commercial health insurance. It not only changes the market-oriented product design, but also pays more attention to customer needs. The impact of public health education on people's demand for commercial health insurance: Empirical evidence from China

Abstract:Public health education is gaining significance globally, and it is important for managing health risks. This study empirically analyzed the effect of public health education on people's demand for commercial health insurance. And we used the fixed effects and the mediating effect models, and instrumental variables regression in our research based on panel data of 31 provinces (including municipalities and autonomous regions) in China from year 2009 to 2019. The findings show that public health education significantly increases people's demand for commercial health insurance, and this effect remains significant when considering endogeneity and robustness. We further analyzed and found that the increased demand for commercial health insurance is caused by health literacy, health risk perceptions and health risk attitudes. Through heterogeneity analysis, we found that there were significant differences in the effects of public health education in regions with different demographic and socioeconomic characteristics. We found that the effect of health education on promoting people's demand for commercial health insurance is more obvious in regions with high levels of urbanization, proportion of men, education, economic development, medical resources, and social medical insurance coverage. Governments are supposed to take further measures to enhance the effectiveness of public health education, develop high-quality commercial health insurance, and continuously improve health risk coverage.

Abstract:Under the context of rapid economic and social development, and growing demands for a better life, Chinese residents have been increasingly concerned with their health status and issues. In this study, the internal relations between the purchase of commercial insurance by residents and their health status are analyzed and studied with a polytomous logit model based on the data of Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS) in 2015. According to the research result, purchase of commercial insurance significantly improved the health status of residents, with an improving effect for rural residents apparently better than that among urban residents. In addition, purchase of commercial insurance can promote the health status of residents by increasing their household income. This research will provide an effective reference for the innovative development and medical reform of the commercial insurance of China in the future, which is theoretically and practically significant to the implementation of the Healthy China Strategy.

Abstract:As Chinese residents are increasingly concerned about environmental and health issues, the importance of commercial health insurance has come to the fore. Therefore, it is necessary to study the relationship and mechanism between air pollution and commercial health insurance. This paper empirically analyzes the impact and mechanism of air pollution on the sustainable development of Chinese commercial health insurance. The analysis is conducted using the IV-probit and IV-tobit models with thermal inversion as the instrumental variable for air pollution, with Chinese households as the study population and 2018 as the study period. The results show that PM2.5 concentration has a positive and significant effect on both household participation in commercial health insurance and the level of participation, and that residents' concern is an important channel linking air pollution and commercial health insurance, where pollution reporting plays a negative transmission role, protective behaviors play a positive transmission role, and healthy depreciation plays a positive transmission role. The results of this study contribute to the comprehensive development of China's social security system and the sustainable development of the commercial health insurance market.

Abstract:As a necessary supplement to social medical insurance, commercial health insurance is an important part of the Healthy China strategy. This study, based on the Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS) data in 2017, uses the probit model to analyze and study the internal relationship between Internet use and commercial health insurance purchase of urban and rural residents. The research results show that the use of the Internet significantly promoted commercial health insurance purchases of residents, and the promotion effect for rural residents is apparently better than that among urban residents. In addition, the social level of residents is improved through the use of Internet, which can promote commercial health insurance purchases. It provides a significant reference value for the effective integration of Internet use and commercial health insurance, and the high-quality development of the modern insurance industry.
