Abstract:To investigate the effect of dehydroepiandrosterone(DHEA)on lipid metabolism of infancy rats by intraperitoneal injection, forty healthy infancy male SD rats were randomly divided into four groups, and the control group was given the liquid with 50% ethanol+50% propylene glycol and three experiment groups were given DHEA in dosages of 1,5 and 10 mg·kg-1 once per two days for 14 days by intraperitoneal injection, respectively. The result showed that DHEA could reduce the percentage of abdominal fat weight and the level of triglycerides(TG)and non-esterified fatty acid(NEFA)compared with the control, and no significant difference in the content of total serum cholesterol(TC)was observed. In contrast, hight dosages DHEA injection caused a marked rise in lipoprotein lipase(LPL)and hepatic lipase(HL)activity in liver.Injecting DHEA significantly decreased serum level of insulin,TNF-α and had the trend that increased the content of glucagon. At the same time, injecting DHEA significant decreased the content of hepatin, total cholesterol, but significantly increased the activity of Na+-K+-ATPase.The results indicated that DHEA possessed the effect of reducing blood lipids and strengthing the antioxidant activity in infancy rats.
