Abstract:(2n-1) is one of the most commonly used moduli in Residue Number Systems. In this express, we propose a novel Booth encoding architecture. Based on the proposed Booth encoding architecture, we can design high speed and high-efficient modulo (2n-1) multipliers, which are the fastest among all known modulo (2n-1) multipliers. The performance and the efficiency of the proposed multipliers are evaluated and compared with the earlier fastest modulo (2n-1) multipliers, based on a simple gate-count and gate-delay model. These results reveal that the proposed multipliers lead to average approximately 14% faster than the fastest known modulo (2n-1) multipliers.

Abstract:In order to improve the speed and power consumption of the binary multiplier,this paper present a high-quality 33×28 binary multiplier with modified radix-4 Booth encoding and improved partial product circuits in partial product generator and a 7∶3 compressor in partial product compression module.Compared with the multiplier created by Synopsys′ module compiler,the speed of proposed partial product generator has improved 34%,the time of compressor has reduced about one 3∶2 compressor′s delay by combining 7∶3 compressors with other compressors and the total delay of proposed multiplier has improved 17.7% at 0.9 V on a TSMC 90 nm process technology.

By using the radix-4 Booth recoding, the new multipliers reduce the number of the partial products to n/2 for even and (n + 1)/2 for n odd except for one correction term. Although one correction term is used, the circuit is very simple. The architecture for the new multipliers consists of an inverted end-around-carry carry save adder tree and one diminished-1 adder. The new multipliers receive full inputs and avoid (n + 1)-bit circuits. The analytical and experimental results indicate that the new multipliers offer enhanced operation speed and more compact area among all the efficient existing solutions.

Abstract:A new structure of bit-parallel Polynomial Basis (PB) multiplier is proposed, which is based on a fast modular reduction method. The method was recommended by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). It takes advantage of the characteristics of irreducible polynomial, i.e., the degree of the second item of irreducible polynomial is far less than the degree of the polynomial in the finite fields GF(2 m ). Deductions are made for a class of finite field in which trinomials are chosen as irreducible polynomials. Let the trinomial be x m + x h +1, where 1 ≤ k ≤ [m/1]. The proposed structure has shorter critical path than the best known one up to date, while the space requirement keeps the same. The structure is practical, especially in real time cryptographic applications.

Abstract:In this express, we propose an extending method, which extends the residue set of modulus (2n-2p-1) from [0,2n-2p-1) to [0,2n-1]. The proposed extending method can simplify modulo (2n-2p-1) operations and we can simply cope with the bits weighted by 2n+k(k≥0). With the proposed extending method, we propose an universal architecture for designing high-efficient modulo (2n-2p-1) multipliers on the condition n≥2p+1. Synthesized results demonstrate that the proposed modulo (2n-2p-1) multipliers have a good performance.

Abstract:Multipliers are an essential part in DSP and VLSI design. Among conventional multipliers Booth multiplier is widely used. The aim of this paper is to plan a Booth multiplier which can give better execution attributes, for example, rapid, low force, less area than the other regular multipliers. This paper considers a Booth multiplier using a modified SQRT CSLA (Square Root Carry-select-adder). Modified SQRT CSLA is possible to incorporate by using BEC (Binary to excess one converter) or a CBL instead of a RCA (Ripple Carry Adder). CBL is most efficient when compared to BEC so CBL is preferred in designing a Booth multiplier.

Abstract:In the conventional hybrid Booth multiplier architecture, the reduction of the radix-8 partial products begins after the generation of three times the multiplicand has been performed by a wide bit widths adder in parallel with the reduction of the radix-4 partial products. Thus, the reduction process is not as time efficient. To solve this problem, we propose a novel hybrid multiplier architecture utilizing partially redundant radix-8 Booth encoding to generate three times the multiplicand. Experiments show that this novel hybrid multiplier architecture requires 2.8% smaller area and 4.2% less power with the almost same delay for a 64×64-bit multiplier as compared with a radix-4 implementation. The novel hybrid radix-4/radix-8 architecture is therefore a compromise between high speed and low power.
Modulo-$(2^{2n}+1)$ Arithmetic via Two Parallel n-bit Residue Channels

Abstract:Augmenting the balanced residue number system moduli-set $\{m_1=2^n,m_2=2^n-1,m_3=2^n+1\}$, with the co-prime modulo $m_4=2^{2n}+1$, increases the dynamic range (DR) by around 70%. The Mersenne form of product $m_2 m_3 m_4=2^{4n}-1$, in the moduli-set $\{m_1,m_2,m_3,m_4\}$, leads to a very efficient reverse convertor, based on the New Chinese remainder theorem. However, the double bit-width of the m_4 residue channel is counter-productive and jeopardizes the speed balance in $\{m_1,m_2,m_3\}$. Therefore, we decompose $m_4$ to two complex-number n-bit moduli $2^n\pm\sqrt{-1}$, which preserves the DR and the co-primality across the augmented moduli set. The required forward modulo-$(2^{2n}+1)$ to moduli-$(2^n\pm\sqrt{-1}) $conversion, and the reverse are immediate and cost-free. The proposed unified moduli-$(2^n\pm\sqrt{-1})$ adder and multiplier, are tested and synthesized using Spartan 7S100 FPGA. The 6-bit look-up tables (LUT), therein, promote the LUT realizations of adders and multipliers, for $n=5$, where the DR equals $2^{25}-2^5$. However, the undertaken experiments show that to cover all the 32-bit numbers, the power-of-two channel $m_1$ can be as wide as 12 bits with no harm to the speed balance across the five moduli. The results also show that the moduli-$(2^5\pm\sqrt{-1})$ add and multiply operations are advantageous vs. moduli-$(2^5\pm1)$ in speed, cost, and energy measures and collectively better than those of modulo-$(2^{10}+1)$.

Abstract:In this express, an optimized architecture for modulo (2(n) - 2(p) + 1) multipliers on the condition n >= 2p is proposed. Compared with the state-of-art, synthesized results demonstrate that the proposed multipliers can achieve an average delay savings of about 7.5% with an average area savings of about 1.4%.

Abstract:A multi-modulus architecture based on the radix-8 Booth encoding of a modulo (2n − 1) multiplier, a modulo (2n) multiplier, and a modulo (2n + 1) multiplier is proposed in this paper. It uses the original single circuit and shares many common circuit characteristics with a small extra circuit to carry out multi-modulus operations. Compared with a previous radix-4 study, the radix-8 architecture can increase the modulation multiplication encoding selection from three codes to four codes. This reduces the use of partial products from ⌊n/2⌋ to ⌊n/3⌋ + 1, but it increases the operation complexity for multiplication by three circuits. A hard multiple generator (HMG) is used to address this problem. Two judgment signals in the multi-modulus circuit can be used to perform three operations of the modulo (2n − 1) multiplier, modulo (2n) multiplier, and modulo (2n + 1) multiplier at the same time. The weighted representation is used to reduce the number of partial products. Compared with previously reported methods in the literature, the proposed approach can achieve better performance by being more area-efficient, being faster, consuming low power, and having a lower area-delay product (ADP) and power-delay product (PDP). With the multi-modulus HMG, the proposed modified architecture can save 34.48–55.23% of hardware area. Compared with previous studies on the multi-modulus multiplier, the proposed architecture can save 22.78–35.46%, 4.12–11.15%, 12.59–24.73%, 27.88–38.88%, and 20.49–27.85% of hardware area, delay time, dissipation power, ADP, and PDP, respectively. Xilinx field programmable gate array (FPGA) Vivado 2019.2 tools and the Verilog hardware description language are used for synthesis and implementation. The Xilinx Artix-7 XC7A35T-CSG324-1 chipset is adopted to evaluate the performance.

Abstract:A common shortcoming of existing public-key cryptography algorithms is the computation of a large number of modulation multiplications.This paper describes a secondary Booth-64 algorithm for large integer multiplications,which recodes the traditional high radix Booth recoding.The algorithm accelerates the reduction of partial products and reduces the number of odd multiples of the multiplicand which need to be pre-computed.A 570×570 b secondary Booth encoded pipeline multiplier was designed using the SMIC 0.18 μm CMOS process by Verilog.The results show that the design achieves a 5.8 ns delay on the critical path with an area of no more than 30 mm2.The design improves the performance of advanced cryptographic systems such as the high-speed Rivest Shamir and Adleman algorithm 2 048 b chips and the Elliptic curve cryptography(ECC) gf(p) 512 b chips.

Abstract:In this paper, we describe a 64times64-bit high performance multiplier based on multiplexer cells which is implemented with pass transistor logic. A multiplexer-select Booth encoders was developed to increase speed and reduce the hardware cost. Moreover, a partitioned method was introduced in the design to save the propagate time of final adder. Realistic simulation using extracted timing parameters from the layout shows that the propagation time of the critical path is 2.82ns at 1.8V on 0.18mum CMOS technology

Abstract:A technique for efficiently multiplying two signed numbers using limited area and high speed is presented in this paper. This work uses both the Booth and Vedic multiplication sutra methodologies to enhance the speed and reduction in the area by using two VLSI architectures of radix encoding techniques-Radix-4 and Radix-8-with the Vedic multiplier. The functionality of the proposed methods is tested using an Artix-7 Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA-XC7A100T-CSG324) in Xilinx Vivado 2019.1 and ASIC 45 nm technology. Two methods of Booth encoding using Vedic multiplier (Urdhva-Tiryakbhyam sutra) were used to develop, and examine the benefits of rapid computational multiplier. The results of the proposed multiplier for Booth-Vedic-Radix-4 encoding (BVR-4) decrease area by 89% and improve Area-Delay Product (ADP) by 72% for a 16-bit multiplier when subjected to other existing multipliers. The Booth-Vedic-Radix-8 (BVR-8) method shows that there will be an 89% reduction in area and an improvement in ADP by 72% for the 16-bit multiplier. The performance is evaluated regarding area occupancy (i.e., LUTs number) and propagation delay (output time). In terms of resource utilization, the proposed BVR-4 and BVR-8 multipliers outperform all the current designs with a marginal effect on speed and area for narrower bit-width ranges.

Abstract:The Booth multiplier has been widely used for high performance signed multiplication by encoding and thereby reducing the number of partial products. A multiplier using the radix-$4$ (or modified Booth) algorithm is very efficient due to the ease of partial product generation, whereas the radix- $8$ Booth multiplier is slow due to the complexity of generating the odd multiples of the multiplicand. In this paper, this issue is alleviated by the application of approximate designs. An approximate $2$ -bit adder is deliberately designed for calculating the sum of $1\times$ and $2\times$ of a binary number. This adder requires a small area, a low power and a short critical path delay. Subsequently, the $2$ -bit adder is employed to implement the less significant section of a recoding adder for generating the triple multiplicand with no carry propagation. In the pursuit of a trade-off between accuracy and power consumption, two signed $16\times 16$ bit approximate radix-8 Booth multipliers are designed using the approximate recoding adder with and without the truncation of a number of less significant bits in the partial products. The proposed approximate multipliers are faster and more power efficient than the accurate Booth multiplier. The multiplier with 15-bit truncation achieves the best overall performance in terms of hardware and accuracy when compared to other approximate Booth multiplier designs. Finally, the approximate multipliers are applied to the design of a low-pass FIR filter and they show better performance than other approximate Booth multipliers.

In this paper, a novel algorithm and its VLSI implementation structure are proposed formodulo adder. In the proposed algorithm, parallel prefix operation and carry correction techniques are adopted to eliminate the re-computation of carries. Any existing parallel prefix structure can be used in the proposed structure. Thus, we can get flexible tradeoff between area and delay with the proposed structure. Compared with same type modular adder with traditional structures, the proposedmodulo adder offers better performance in delay and area.

Abstract:This paper describes a high-speed Montgomery multiplier based on pipeline large-scale multiplier. It uses secondary booth encoded algorithm for cutting down the number of partial products and adjusting the data-path to get shorter critical path. An ASIC implementation in 0.18 um CMOS standard cell technology can perform 256-bit modular multiplication in 15 ns under 200 MHz clock frequency. The design can be employed in advanced cryptographic system chips such as RSA or ECC chip.

Abstract:Multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) technology has been regarded as the most potential method to achieve both high data rate and high reliability. Novel technology such as internet and mobile network does exert profound effects on nowadays production and living conditions so that data processing is especially important. Meanwhile, multipliers come to critical patches which limit the main frequency, in other words, the throughput rate of integrated circuits, notably in Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) algorithm. However, when it comes to signal processing, the accuracy of popular multipliers far exceeds the needs. In this way, a novel truncated multiplier is proposed to meet the demand of decreasing area, reduced power consumption and even shorting the time delay.
