Abstract:While there has been an increase in education abroad in China due to China’s rise as an economic, political, military and cultural power, there haven’t been a tremendous number of peer-reviewed articles published in scholarly journals on education abroad programs in China. This paper presents a review of information from peer-reviewed scholarly journals on the types of education abroad programs students, professors and administrators go on in China, organized in a taxonomy, and the outcomes and benefits of these programs that are stated in these sources. The benefits and outcomes of education abroad in China culled from this literature review are matched to the list of ten main outcomes of study abroad programs presented by Parsons (2010). In addition, a list of other outcomes not listed by Parsons (2010) that were identified and categorized through this literature review is presented.

Abstract:The study comments on the researches on distance education in Library and Information Science overseas since 1990 from the following perspectives:history;distance education program and university offerings;distance education students;faculty and staff development;technology;support service;and attitude and perception on distance education and its trends.The study suggests that we should do some survey on distance education in LIS education in China,analyze its needs and status,pay attention to impacts of distance technologies and methods on LIS education and changes of library services to distance learners.

Abstract:In the context of the "Double First-Class" plan for Chinese higher education, the internationalization of discipline becomes an inevitable trend. The "Prosperity Project of Philosophy and Social Science (2011—2020),"which was formulated by Ministry of Education (MOE) and Ministry of Finance (MOF), also put forward the "go global" and "bring in" strategies. The internationalization of references is not only an important means to realize the strategy of "bring in" but also an indicator to measure scholars' international vision. Therefore, this paper does an empirical study on Library and Information Science (LIS). Sixteen journals indexed by the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) since 1998 are selected to explore the internationalization of references in LIS journal papers and to reveal the scholars' international vision. The paper then explores the factors affecting the internationalization of references and puts forward some specific suggestions for the internationalization of LIS in China.

Abstract:Plenty of achievements have been made in library science in 2006.it appears that good phenomena are emerging gradually,such as deepening theory study,facing practice and multidimensional development.The methodology issue has been paid much attention.The main issues are about library transforming management,knowledge-based library science theory,knowledge organization and communication study,the argument on information rights,the debate on knowledge service,long-term preservation of digital resources,study on information sharing & library coalitions and the hitting up of reading therapy.Furthermore,both the new doctor/master spots and the building on the national excellent courses magnified the effect of LIS education.

Abstract:In this paper,authors reviewed the conception of landscape,which was firstly used in the Old Testament.Then the educational background,curriculum structure and general courses of the program of bachelor of landscape architecture(B.L.A.)in west were discussed and introduced to the Chinese education society.It's showed that once landscape architecture has been set up as a BLA and MLA degree in China,it will influence the scientology,education and career structure of Chinese Civil Engineering.

Abstract:Purpose - This study aims to investigate the status of library and information science (LIS) education in Pakistan, as well as LIS progress, level of employment and issues, infrastructure and facilities, challenges faced by LIS institutions and future prospects of the profession. Design/methodology/approach - A total of 115 permanent/regular and visiting academic members from different Pakistani institutions/ universities participated in the research. A mixed-method was used, and data was collected through questionnaires and interviews. The data was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Findings - This study's results showed that assistant, associate and associate professors have been very involved in producing high-quality research articles and producing quality graduates. This study also found that there are several problems with LIS education in Pakistan, such as a lack of qualified teachers, resources and facilities. This study provides all the answers to these problems. They are useful for LIS teachers and students in Pakistan because LIS education has been around for a long time, but there are still some problems that need to be fixed. The results could have an immediate effect on the direction, ability to survive and future of LIS education in Pakistan. Originality/value - Previously, different studies have been conducted on evolution and challenges to the LIS profession, but to the best of the authors' knowledge, no study has been reported based on the professional experiences in other Universities of Pakistan. According to the research, the findings are crucial for LIS professors and students in Pakistan. In addition, the research investigates the challenges faced by LIS teachers in Pakistan. It concludes with suggestions on how to address some of these problems. It is also said that Pakistan must develop universal standards for LIS to close the gap between what users want and what library workers can do.

Abstract:Faced with unprecedented changes in the world, China has chosen to continue expanding its opening-up and actively cooperate with other countries. Internationalization of education is one of the important directions for the future development of universities. Since the reform and opening-up, a series of Sino-foreign cooperative education policies have been successively released, forming a relatively systematic and complete policy system. Under the promotion of policies, Chinese universities actively engage in Sino-foreign cooperative education, with increasingly frequent educational exchanges and a clear trend towards internationalization. The scale of Sino-foreign cooperative education is also constantly expanding. It is worthy to explore how to draw on advanced teaching experience from overseas, continue to promote Sino-foreign cooperative education, and improve the quality of Sino-foreign cooperative education.

Abstract:Based on an analysis of research papers about foreign literature published in our country's relevant periodicals during the period of 2000-2004, this paper points out that studies on foreign literature in China over recent years are ever increasingly developing.Such a development finds expression in an extension and deepening of the research content,in an expansion of the research ranks,and in an elevation of the research quality.It can be envisaged that the Chinese studies on foreign literature will have a leap in the following five to ten years and produce a considerable influence in the international academic circles.

Abstract:This chapter aims to investigate the research status and development of virtual community (VC) in China by a critique of library and information science (LIS) journal articles and to put forward future directions in virtual community for the researchers in our discipline. We used a multiple case of methods including bibliometric approaches (such as keyword frequency and co-word analysis) and a coding system to reveal several characteristics of the research status quo and trends. The results show that from 2000 to the present, VC-related research by LIS Chinese scholars has experienced rapid development with an increasing number of academic papers, authors, journals and institutions. However, LIS research is still at an early stage with the slow introduction of fundamental concepts and frameworks, lack of theoretical support, and organisations focused on empirical studies. VC-related research in China in recent years fully demonstrates its diversified attributes. Our study is limited to the analysis of academic journal literature published in mainland China while excluding dissertations and books, and publications in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Our classification system also needs to be more specific. Our findings have implications for researchers, students, journals and sponsors of Chinese LIS research related to virtual communities.

Abstract:Although the perceptions of library user education of academic libraries has been studied in a general context, specific studies on perspective of library and information science students are relatively few, especially in the context of Asia. Filling this research gap is particularly important because it affects the experiential learning of these pre-professionals, and shapes future library user education directions. As such, this study aims at understanding and comparing the views and perceptions of library user education programs in Greater China from the perspective of library and information science students. A total number 305 questionnaire survey responses were collected from three different universities in Greater China, namely: The University of Hong Kong (HKU), National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), and Peking University (PKU). Results from this survey study reveal high evaluations of library user education programs and library user education librarians as a whole, as well as possible ways for librarians to better promote such programs. Such ratings are attributed to findings from previous studies on why students choose librarianship as a career, as well as the importance of experiential learning embedded in the Library and Information Science programs at each university. Findings of this study also suggest that as pre-professionals (soon-to-be professional librarians), these student respondents recognize the values behind library user education as an important part of their overall learning practices. Results from this study will be useful in identifying how future library professionals in Greater China perceive library user education programs, and librarians – therefore potentially helping librarians improve the delivery of these services.

Abstract:Purpose The research in this paper aims to investigate the development of Library and Information Science in Chinese universities. Specifically, it focuses on understanding the spatial and temporal aspects of subject knowledge output and providing a more comprehensive explanation of the imbalance in subject research. Design/methodology/approach This study applies the bibliometric method to analyze 131,112 papers published by 51 universities in mainland China from 1977 to 2021, as recorded in the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI). The study classifies the evolution trends of the discipline and quantifies the published article data of the universities using the index of published articles. Additionally, it examines the development status, structural situation, influencing factors and prospects of universities in different categories and regions. Findings The field of Library and Information Science is gaining momentum in Chinese universities, but there are significant differences in its development. While the relative gap among universities in a regional context is diminishing, the absolute gap in the category perspective is increasing. The development of Library and Information Science is influenced by various factors, including the academic environment, geographical position, scientific research projects and academic traditions. The uneven development of the discipline is maintained in the short term. Originality/value This paper proposes a new quantitative index of discipline development, the university publication index. This index allows for an examination of the temporal and spatial trends of discipline development using domestic universities as the subject of research. The paper presents an overview of discipline development through four aspects: academic participation practice, discipline governance mechanisms, education and teaching systems and discourse construction within the discipline. The theoretical support provided by this study can help facilitate innovative development in the discipline.

Abstract:With the status of English as a global lingua franca (ELF), English is no longer the sole property of its Anglophone native English speakers (NES) problematizing the current dominance of Anglophone cultures and NES in the field of English language teaching (ELT). The notion of intercultural citizenship education offers a critical alternative model in language education. To investigate how ELF, intercultural approaches and the concept of intercultural citizenship might be integrated within the field of ELT, a study was conducted in a university located in southeast China. Due to the large number of ELT learners and high degree of student mobility in China these are issues of much relevance in this setting. The research collected qualitative data through face-to-face interviews, email interviews and focus groups with students on study abroad programmes who have both ELT and first-hand intercultural experiences. Many students spoke positively about aspects of intercultural citizenship, but classroom instruction offered only limited channels for students to experience and understand intercultural communication and citizenship. In contrast, most of their understanding and experiences were gained outside the classroom during study abroad. Furthermore, many students spoke about the importance of English in their development of intercultural connections and citizenship. We conclude that more in-depth and critical approaches to teaching language, culture and intercultural communication in ELT are needed which foster and cultivate students’ sense of intercultural citizenship.

Abstract:Using methods of bibliometrics and the software of RefViz,the history and trends of research, features of high-quality publica-tions and research topics were explored based on the 172 publications of 8 doctorate-granting LIS schools and departments collected from the database of Web of Science (SCI-E, SSCI, A&HCI) from aspects of year distribution of publications, source journals, subjects, fun-ding agencies, titles and abstracts. Results showed that the international scientific research of the 8 doctorate-granting LIS schools and de-partments was still at the initial stage, and the research topics of these publications mainly focused on the development of LIS in China.

Abstract:The development of Internet technology has not only influenced tourism and hospitality operations, but also provided new research opportunities for scholars. The last decade has witnessed the continuous growth in publications of website development conducted in the context of tourism and hospitality in China. After reviewing these studies, this research found that in line with relevant research in other countries, scholars in the context of China also examined two main topics of website evaluation and Internet users’ perceptions of either websites of tourism organizations or third party websites (e.g. blogs, video sharing websites). In addition, content analysis and questionnaire survey were the main data collection method. Some issues of concern were also identified as inconsistency existed between studies in an earlier stage and those conducted in more recent stage.

Abstract:Under the background of continuous innovation and development of computer technology, computer-assisted language teaching has gradually become a new development trend of language teaching. Based on the CNKI database, we read, organize and analyze the literature related to "the application of computer means in international Chinese language education", and according to the relevant results, we find that the computer means in China's international Chinese language education has achieved certain application results, involving multimedia technology, virtual reality technology, the establishment of database and other aspects.
