Abstract:This paper addresses the asynchronous finite-time H ∞ control problem for a class of nonlinear switched time-delay systems via state-feedback controller. Firstly, by using the Average Dwell Time (ADT) method and the Multiple Lyapunov functions (MLFs) theory, we provide some delay-dependent sufficient conditions which can guarantee the corresponding closed-loop system be finite-time stable. Secondly we further propose the design of asynchronous switched state-feedback controller which makes the corresponding closed-loop system be finite-time bounded with a prescribed H ∞ performance. At last, two numerical examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Abstract:This paper utilizes the concept of a transport partial differential equation (PDE) representation of delayed input to solve the classic problem of output feedback control for a common category of uncertain minimum phase linear time-delay systems in spite of co-existence of unknown plant parameter and actuator delay, as well as unmeasurable ordinary differential equation (ODE) and PDE state. In the case of measurable distributed input, the time-varying trajectory tracking is established while in the other case of unmeasurable distributed input, the constant set-point regulation is accomplished. The applicable output feedback control design incorporates the adaptive backstepping technique for ODE plants with the prediction-based boundary control method for PDE systems. There is not any limitation on relative degree of the considered systems. The Lyapunov-based analysis shows the local stability of the closed-loop ODE-PDE cascade systems.

Abstract:In this paper, a robust stabilizing problem for linear time-varying uncertain systems with delayed state and control is studied when the full state can not be measured. An observer-based dynamic output feedback controller is derived to quadratically stabilize the linear time-delay system with norm-bounded uncertainty. A sufficient condition of robust output feedback stabilizability of a system is presented, then the sufficient condition is transformed into a Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) problem and the control law can be obtained by solving two LMIs. Finally, a numerical example is presented to illustrate the obtained results.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the robust control analysis and synthesis problem of linear time-varying uncertain systems with delayed state and control when the full state can not be measured. A dynamic output feedback controller is derived to quadratically stabilize the linear time-delay system with norm-bounded uncertainty via introducing a linear delay-free state observer. Sufficient conditions for the existence of robust output feedback control law are derived and two synthesis methods are presented for robust output feedback control law to uncertain time-delay systems. One is to construct robust output feedback control law by two equivalent linear time-invariant structural description for the sufficient conditions and the control law can be obtained by solving two Algebraic Riccati Equations(ARE). The other method is to transform the sufficient conditions into two Linear Matrix Inequality(LMI) problems and the control law can be obtained by solving two LMI. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the obtained results.

Abstract:The problem of robust stabilizing a class of time-varying time-delay uncertain nonlinear systems is studied in this paper. The systems under consideration are nonlinear systems consisting of feedback linearizable nominal parts and norm-bounded nonlinear uncertain perturbations in states, time-varying time-delay states and control inputs. A sufficient condition for the robust stabilization of such systems is derived, then the sufficient condition is transformed into a Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) problem. A robust controller, combining feedback linearization technique and quadratic stabilization via linear feedback, is developed such that the obtained closed-loop system is globally stable.

Abstract:A majority of recently published results about control of systems with multi-input time-delay ask for a perfect knowledge of the system itself. To overcome this disadvantage, this paper investigates adaptive control methodology of multi-input linear time-invariant (LTI) systems under a coexistence of classic types of uncertainties, such as unknown and distinct multi-actuator delays, unknown parameters and unmeasurable state in the ordinary differential equation (ODE) part. Making use of the idea of a transport partial differential equation (PDE) representation of the delayed input, a unity-rescaled backstepping transformation and predictor-based PDE full-state feedback is developed to achieve global stabilization for uncertain LTI systems with multi-input time-delay.

Abstract:We consider the stabilization of discrete-time nonlinear OdE systems under discrete transport PdEs which convect in opposite directions. An explicit feedback law that compensates discrete transport PdEs actuator dynamics is designed. Global asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system is proved with the aid of a Lyapunov function. The feedback design is illustrated through an example. The proposed design in this paper allows the delay to be arbitrarily long and timevarying. Furthermore, our predictor feedback law in discrete time is explicit as the predictor state is computed by an algebraic equation.

Abstract:The asymptotic Lyapunov stability with probability one of multi-degree-of-freedom quasi linear systems subject to multi-time-delayed feedback control and multiplicative (parametric) excitation of wide-band random process is studied. First, the multi-time-delayed feedback control forces are expressed approximately in terms of the system state variables without time delay and the system is converted into ordinary quasi linear system. Then, the averaged Itô stochastic differential equations are derived by using the stochastic averaging method for quasi linear systems and the expression for the largest Lyapunov exponent of the linearized averaged Itô equations is derived. Finally, the necessary and sufficient condition for the asymptotic Lyapunov stability with probability one of the trivial solution of the original system is obtained approximately by letting the largest Lyapunov exponent to be negative. An example is worked out in detail to illustrate the application and validity of the proposed procedure and to show the effect of the time delay in feedback control on the largest Lyapunov exponent and the stability of system.

Abstract:The issue of fault-tolerant control for a class of time-delay systems with sensor failures was investigated. Attention was focused on the design of output dynamical feedback controller which guaranteed the asymptotical stability of the closed-loop systems even when the sensor failed. Based on the [0, sigma] actuator model of failure and delay-dependent stability criterion for nominal time-delay systems, by introducing nonlinear transformation, the nonlinear inequality was translated into linear inequality, the sufficient conditions for the existence of feedback controller are obtained. Moreover, the expression for the desired controller is given by using the LMI and the cone complementary linearization iterative algorithm. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the method.

Abstract:This paper addresses the output feedback stabilization problem of linear systems with time-varying delayed states and controls. The proposed controller can be obtained by solving a special algebraic Riccati equation. It is also shown that the stabilizing controller design of a given delayed linear system via dynamic output feedback is equivalent to that of an augmented delayed linear system via static output feedback. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:In this paper, a novel adaptive control strategy is presented for the tracking control of a class of multi-input-multioutput uncertain nonlinear systems with external disturbances to place user-defined time-varying constraints on the system state. Our contribution includes a step forward beyond the usual stabilization result to show that the states of the plant converge asymptotically, as well as remain within user-defined time-varying bounds. To achieve the new results, an error transformation technique is first established to generate an equivalent nonlinear system from the original one, whose asymptotic stability guarantees both the satisfaction of the time-varying restrictions and the asymptotic tracking performance of the original system. The uncertainties of the transformed system are overcome by an online neural network (NN) approximator, while the external disturbances and NN reconstruction error are compensated by the robust integral of the sign of the error signal. Via standard Lyapunov method, asymptotic tracking performance is theoretically guaranteed, and all the closed-loop signals are bounded. The requirement for a prior knowledge of bounds of uncertain terms is relaxed. Finally, simulation results demonstrate the merits of the proposed controller.

Abstract:The problem of Gl2 control for discrete-time linear time-invariant systems with time delay in the state is presented.Based on the simplified Gl2 analysis theorem,the Gl2 control problem is equivalently transformed to the H∞ control prolem.The linear matrix inequality(LMI) representation of Gl2 performance for the delayed systems is also derived by using LMI and constructing Lyapunov function.The sufficient condition for the existence of memoryless Gl2 state feedback controller ensuring the stability and a prescribed performance index for the state delay is established.Using the proposed method,the designed Gl2 controller is less conservative than the H∞ controller when the input disturbance is independently norm-bounded and the systems with time delay have full structure uncertainty.A numerical example shows the effectiveness of the result.

Abstract:The problem of adaptive state feedback exponentially practically stabilizing a class of time-varying systems with uncertainty and disturbance is considered. The conditions of state feedback exponentially practically stabilizing systems are given. The uncertainties of the systems satisfy the so-called matching condition. They can be nonlinear or time-varying. The bounds of the uncertainty exist, but are unknown. A kind of certain nonlinear controller, which can guarantee that the states of the systems exponentially converge to the equilibrium's nearly region, which is named in advance in limited time, is designed. The simulation shows the validity of the result.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the problems of asymptotic stability and finite-time stability (FTS) analysis, along with the state feedback controller design for networked control systems (NCSs) with consideration of both network-induced delay and packet dropout. The closed-loop NCS is modeled as a discrete-time linear system with a time-varying, bounded state delay. Sufficient conditions for the asymptotic stability and the FTS of the closed-loop NCS are provided, respectively. Based on the stability analysis results, a mixed controller design method, which guarantees the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop NCS in the usual case and the FTS of the closed-loop NCS in the unusual case (that is, in some particular time intervals, large state delay occurs), is presented. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed mixed controller design method.

Abstract:The design of state feedback H∞ controllers is discussed for the singular nonlinear discrete systems with time-delay.First by means of generalized Lyapunov function and linear matrix inequality,the stability is studied for the system.Then,a sufficient condition is given such that a singular nonlinear discrete system is zero solution asymptotically stable and a H∞ norm constraint.A state feedback H∞ controller is designed to guarantee the performance of the resulting closed-loop system.An example is illusrated to prove the validity of the results.

Abstract:This paper considers the exponential stabilization problem for a class of strict-feedback nonlinear systems with multiple time-varying delays, whose nonlinear terms satisfy the linear growth condition. The state feedback controller that relies on a positive parameter to be determined is constructed to deal with nonlinear terms. By tactfully introducing the Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional with an exponential function and selecting the applicable parameter to be determined, the implementable state feedback controller can be obtained to guarantee that the closed-loop system is exponentially stable. The proposed state feedback control scheme is finally applied to the control design of two-stage chemical reactor system, which illustrates the effectiveness of the control method.

In particular, we develop both full-state feedback control law and output feedback law. In addition, we consider a expanded condition. Abstract:For linear switched systems consisting of controllable and uncontrollable subsystems with stochastic switch signal and uncertain time delay in detection, the authors investigate its feedback controller design problem and develop a nonsynchronized feedback controller which guarantees that the expectation of state norm converges to zero. Furthermore, the authors show its effectiveness by analyzing the expectation of system state norm. In addition, an illustrative numerical example is also presented to demonstrate the utility of the proposed controller.

Abstract:This paper mainly investigates the adaptive state feedback control problem for a class of stochastic nonlinear systems with time-delay and unknown control coefficients. The proposed control scheme leverages the dynamic gain technology and Nussbaum function to develop a state feedback controller, aiming to simplify its implementation and eliminate the influence of unidentified time-varying control coefficients. Through the utilization of suitable Lyapunov-Krasovskii (L-K) functionals and stochastic stability theories, it is demonstrated that the designed control mechanism guarantees the boundedness in probability for all closed-loop signals, ultimately regulating the state of the plant to zero. The availability and superiority of the developed adaptive management strategy are further certified through simulation results.

Abstract:This article discusses the adaptive fuzzy asymptotic tracking control for high-order nonlinear time-delay systems with full-state constraints. Fuzzy-logic systems and a separation principle are utilized to relax growth assumptions imposed on unknown nonlinearities. The adverse effect caused by unknown time delays is eliminated by choosing appropriate Lyapunov–Krasovskii functionals. By integrating nonlinear-transformed functions with a key coordinate transformation into the control design and constructing a specific compact set on the initial values of system states, the desired trajectory and parameter estimates, it is rigorously proved that all closed-loop signals are semiglobally bounded, the fuzzy approximation is valid, the full-state constraints are not violated without feasibility conditions on virtual controllers, and asymptotic tracking is achieved. The effectiveness and advantages of this control scheme are confirmed by two examples including a single-link robotic system.
