Abstract:The blogosphere is a new communication platform in the network in which netizen have strong writing enthusiasm,common interests and exchange willingness.The biogosphere has many features such as aggregation of netizen,emotion communication,shared information and cooperation.In blogosphere,publicity and privacy,sensibility and neutrality,activity and structure can be balanced.As an ideal communicative environment,the biogosphere can avoid single writing and unorganized flaw in spreading.It is in favor of controlling the order of net society.The features of blogosphere such as network convenience,interactivity and openness make it become a platform for exchanging information,studying teaching and sharing information in adult continuing education.The blogosphere is not in use in adult continuing education yet.More attention and study should be paid on its application and standard management from the aspects of morality,technology and law.

Abstract:Blog attracts users involved by providing a personalized information release platform and presenting a wide range of contents. Writing and browsing Blog has become the Internet’s new fashion,which promotes the development of Blog search service. However the most up-to-date Blog search services only provide keyword-based matching,lacking automatic extraction of user interests and further interest-related Blog recommendation. This paper describes the design and implementation of an interest mining and recommendation system Blog-digger. The system adopts interest mining technology and can automatically identify the use’s interests and recommend interest-related Blog initiatively. Experimental results show that the system is effective.

Abstract:Blogs have become an important media of self-expression recently. Millions of people write blog posts, share their interests, give suggestions and form groups in blogspace. An important way to understand the development of blogspace is to identify topic experts as well as blog communities and to further find how they interact with each other. Topic experts are influential bloggers who usually publish "authoritative" opinions on a specific topic and influence their followers. Here we first discuss the challenge of efficient identifying topic experts and then propose a novel model to quantify topic experts. Based on the topic experts identified, we further propose a new approach to identify the related blog communities on that topic. Experiments are conducted and the results demonstrate that our approaches are very effective and efficient.

Abstract:Weblogs (also known as blogs) have become a key tool not only for individuals to publish posts, but also for obtaining useful information on a daily basis. Compared with traditional Internet services, there is much more personalized information in blogspace. And it is an ideal place to provide personalized services such as recommendation. This paper proposes a novel scheme to model users' interests for recommendation in blogspace. It separates users' interests into long-term and short-term, and models them by integrating their preference categories reflected in individual blog post in a period of time. Interests attenuation algorithm is further introduced to model the decline of users' interests in a specific category. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme can well describe users' interests evolvement.

Abstract:There is an increasing number of people reading, writing, and commenting on blogs. According to a recent survey made by Technorati, there are about 75,000 new blogs and 1.2 million new posts everyday. However, it is difficult and time consuming for a blog reader to find the most interesting posts in the huge and dynamic blog world. In this article, an online Personalized Blog Reader (PBR) system is proposed, which facilitates blog readers in browsing the coolest and newest blog posts of their interests by automatically clustering the most relevant stories. PBR aims to make a user's potential favorite topics always ranked higher than those nonfavorite ones. This is accomplished in the following steps. First, the system collects and provides a unified incremental index of posts coming from different blogs. Then, an incremental clustering algorithm with a flexible half-bounded window of observation is proposed to satisfy the requirements of online processing. It learns people's personalized reading preferences to present a user with a final reading list. The experimental results show that the proposed incremental clustering algorithm is effective and efficient, and the personalization of the PBR performs well.

Abstract:Popularity of bloggers and the amount of information in the blogosphere increase fast.Blogs have constituted a dynamic and tightly social network by using frequent links and information interaction, and become an important source of information for the real world.Most researches on blog mainly concentrate on blog definition and identification, content mining, community discovery, importance analysis, blog search and spam blog identification.Methods and technologies of link analysis and natural language processing are used in most works, and some blog-specific methods are proposed.This paper analyzes and compares these researches on blogosphere.Problems of current topics are discussed, and finally future directions are proposed in this paper.

Abstract:For Web Science, we think that blog is a very important part. BlogosphereExplorer is an on going project that exploits the power of blogosphere, the pioneer of Web 2.0 era that advocates spirits of open mind, reason, sharing, participation and collaboration. We launched this project and hope that it can be a practicable blog searching and mining service for individuals, commercial organizations and the governments or regulation organizations. We think that the multiple properties mining and spatiotemporal evolution analysis will make BlogosphereExplorer more useful in some aspects than even some commercial blog search engines such as Technorati。In this paper, we present the functionality of the BlogosphereExplorer in design, and present architecture of the system, and also discuss some special implementation considerations in related components of the system.

Abstract:Popularity of blogs and the amount of information in the blogosphere increase so fast that it is difficult for Internet users to search the information they care about. Compared with conventional webs, links in the blogosphere are more abundant and conversations between bloggers are more frequent. This paper proposes a method of ranking bloggers based on link analysis, which can exemplify the characteristics of blogs, and reduce the influence of link spamming. This method can also bring convenience to users to read blogs, and it can supply a new methodology for information retrieval in the blogosphere. To ensure the reliability of the ranking results, some evaluation indicators of the important bloggers are proposed, and the grading results of bloggers using the proposed method is compared with that using other indicators. At last, correlation analysis is used to verify the consistency between the proposed method and the evaluation indicators.

Abstract:A Blogosphere is a complex network of blogs with mutual links, citations, reviews and comments. It is a new manifestation of the social network and reflects a new kind of social relationship among people in the Internet era. This phenomenon has attracted a great deal of public attention and research interests. In this research, we employed the link analysis (LA) method on Sinapsilas VIP Blogosphere. After obtaining the link relationship of the Blogosphere members, we used the social network analysis (SNA) method to explore the structural features of the Blogosphere and the behavior patterns of its members. We also tried to map the link relationship shown in the Blogospheres to the real-life relationship and obtained good consistency.

Abstract:Blog is becoming more and more popular with the rapid development of Internet. It needs to find an automatic way to distinguish the blog pages from ordinary Web pages for the content extraction of blog pages and the blog community discovered. Some basic concepts and ideas in the area of blog was described in this paper, and a method on the blog pages identification is proposed, which is based on the blog pages structure and blog content. The experimentation shows that a high result can be achieved in precision.

Abstract:As a significant mean for users sharing useful information, microblogs have played an important role in people daily life. People are overwhelmed in a large amount of daily updated microblog information. It becomes increasing necessary for social network users to be recommended useful information of interest to them. In order to meet the demand of users we put forward a new method for user interest prediction. Previous works have focused on analyzing user's social relations and time information by observing users' history behavior. We extend currently approach by incorporating social hub information, such as social relations, topic correlations, and social hub interest trend and so on. Our performance evaluation by Pren demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed model and the experimental results show that it can accurately predict uses' interests.

Abstract:Blog has received lots of attention since the revolution of Web 2.0 and has attracted millions of users to publish information on it. As time goes by, information seeking in this new media becomes an emergent issue. In our paper, we take multiple features unique in blogs into account and propose a novel algorithm to rank the blog posts in blog search. Coherence between the query type and blogger interest, document relevance and freshness are combined linearly to produce the final ranking score of a post. Specifically, we introduce a user modeling method to capture interests of bloggers. In our experiments, we invite volunteers to complete several tasks and their time cost in the tasks is taken as the primary criteria to evaluate the performance. The experimental results show that our algorithm outperforms traditional ones.

Abstract:Chinese Weblogs have been expanded in an incredible speed in recent years. There is plentiful personal information in Weblogs. In this paper, we propose a text classification based approach to automatically identify the interests of a Weblogger. To solve the problems arising out of class Weblog documents, the technique of heterogeneous classifiers combination is used. We also use hierarchical classification technique to identify much specific interests. Experiments show that our interest identification approach has a high accuracy and, for most Webloggers in our experiments, their interests implied in the contents of blogs could be well identified by using this approach

Abstract:Microblog information tracing refers to finding the source set of microblog topics according to the analysis of crawled microblog texts and it’s of great significance in the aspect of public opinion control and information security. A user interests-based tracing method (ITM) was proposed. The proposed method calculates the influence of the blogger based on the interest of the microblog blogger, and also calculates the influence of the commentators based on the interest of the commentators. The ranking algorithm was used to score the blogs according to publication time, notability and influence, and the source of the blogs was traced according to the blog score rank. Experimental results show that the accuracy of the proposed algorithm improved about 21% compared with the traditional tracing algorithms.

Abstract:This paper focuses on an emerging research topic about mining microbloggers' personalized interest tags from their own microblogs ever posted. It based on an intuition that microblogs indicate the daily interests and concerns of microblogs. Previous studies regarded the microblogs posted by one microblogger as a whole document and adopted traditional keyword extraction approaches to select high weighting nouns without considering the characteristics of microblogs. Given the less textual information of microblogs and the implicit interest expression of microbloggers, we suggest a new research framework on mining microbloggers' interests via exploiting the Wikipedia, a huge online word knowledge encyclopedia, to take up those challenges. Based on the semantic graph constructed via the Wikipedia, the proposed semantic spreading model SSM can discover and leverage the semantically related interest tags which do not occur in one's microblogs. According to SSM, An interest mining system have implemented and deployed on the biggest microblogging platform Sina Weibo in China. We have also specified a suite of new evaluation metrics to make up the shortage of evaluation functions in this research topic. Experiments conducted on a real-time dataset demonstrate that our approach outperforms the state-of-the-art methods to identify microbloggers' interests.

Abstract:As a popular Internet information exchange platform, Micro-Blog like Twitter attracts a large amount of users to share information through short and noisy messages. In this paper, we aim to discover Micro-Blog users' interest using topic model. In the topic model, users' metadata such as labels are taken as new features and been put into user document which will be used to infer user's interest. Experimental results indicate that this method gives satisfying user interest and is capable for reality project. This paper also introduce two applications based on user interest detected before: 1) Keywords extraction based on interest (We calculate word entropy using word topic distribution as new feature). 2) User clustering based on user interest.

Abstract:Blogs have been expanded at an incredible speed in recent years. Plentiful personal information makes blogs a popular way mining user profiles. In this paper, we propose a novel bloggers' interests modeling approach based on forgetting mechanism. A new forgetting function is introduced to track interest drift. Based on that, the Short Term Interest Models (STIM) and Long Term Interest Models (LTIM) are constructed to describe bloggers' short-term and long-term interests. The experiments show that both models can identify bloggers' preferences well respectively.

Abstract:Recently, blogs have become prominent social network. Blog users could quickly and easily publish content including personalized thoughts, using hyperlinks to interact with each other, finally form online community. Discovering the community structure is important to personalized service and collaborative recommendation. However, current blog community detecting algorithm directly use the graph partition methods to split the blog network, ignore blog network's sparseness characteristic, and consider the blog content and link respectively, which make the results inaccurate. In this paper, we first take advantage of symmetric social distance of two nodes to add edges, make the initial blog network dense, and then calculate the blog topic similarity to redefine the weight of dense graph. Finally, we present the community detection algorithm taking into account weights of links. We tested it on the real-world, it gives excellent results. Copyright © 2010 Binary Information Press.
