Abstract:Infrasound signal frequency of 0~20 Hz was collected by infrasound signal data collecting system. Sound collecting apparatus transformed the signal into voltage signal correspondingly. The computer analyzed the mainly frequency and the density of the infrasound and also illustrated the results and gave printing curves automatically.

Abstract:A set of measuring and controlling instrument that integrates functions of a sine-wave generator, an AC digital voltmeter and a frequency-rate counter, and a suit of specially-designed software are used to make it easy for users to get the characters of transducers such as sensitivity, linearity and frequency response. Both the hardware and software schemes of the instrument is analyzed and evaluated. Experimental results prove that the system is suitable for calibration of vibration transducers. The system has greatly improved the efficiency of the calibration at lower cost.

Abstract:This paper presents results of the sound speed profiles (SSPs) inversion using a data set obtained in shallow water of South China Sea in 2016 summer with an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) carrying source. In-site acoustic data collected by the vertical line array (VLA) are analyzed and employed for the inversion of time-evolving SSPs. The inversion is formulated as a tracking problem with the state-space model, in which the SSPs are parameterized by the empirical orthogonal functions (EOFs) to reduce the degree of freedom. The differential evolution (DE) is implemented in the sequential process to maximize the a posterior probability. Results demonstrate the validation of the method for the SSP inversion, and the inversion errors are discussed.

Abstract:According to the current research status and application requirements of ultra-low frequency vibration standard devices, a vibration standard device is set up in Sichuan Earthquake Agency, whose frequency range is from 0.002 Hz to 160 Hz, and amplitude of peak to peak is 0.1m, and load is 15 kg, and waveform distortion is less than 1%. The paper analyzed the design proposal and parameter selection for the ultra-low frequency vibration standard laboratory, and introduced in detail the structure of the device and the design of the base. Finally, the test results show that the device could meet the demand of calibrating seismometers in our bureau.
A Reference Infrasound Source with Low Distortion Based on Laser Pistonphone Technology

Abstract:For safety protection from infrasound and its metrology, a reference infrasound source was developed on the basis of the laser pistonphone technique. The electromagnetic vibrator was made based on the technology of air bearings and a displacement feedback system. The air bearings reduce the damping of the vibrator, and the displacement feedback system could effectively control the distortion of the pistonphone. Through the displacement of the piston measured by a laser interferometer, the sound pressure could be calculated. In the meantime, the sound pressure was measured by a LS1P microphone with the reciprocity calibration results. The test results show that the difference between the measured pressure and the calculated one is no more than 0.01 dB from 5 to 20 Hz and the total distortion of the sound pressure at 124.0 dB is less than 0.7 % from 1 to 20 Hz.

Abstract:Aiming at the demerits of time-consuming and low efficiency during the process of ultralow frequency vibration calibration,an automatic ultralow frequency vibration calibration system based on personal computer and virtual instrument was presented.The system was consisted of ultralow frequency standard vibrator,power amplifier,laser vibrometer,displacement transducer,signal generator,universal counter,data acquisition card,computer,control software,etc..The strategy which via combining the method of linear approximation and step-by-step frequency shift could make the vibrator reach the pre-set vibration level quickly and precisely.The experiment results show that the system is suitable for the calibrating ultralow frequency vibration transducers very well and improves the automation of ultralow frequency calibrating vibration.

Abstract:According to the research status and application requirements for ultra-low frequency vibration standard at home and abroad, the national standard device for vibration magnitude and phase was studied and established. The ultra-low frequency range is 0.002 Hz to 160 Hz. The maximum peak-to-peak value of amplitude is 1m.The maximum load is 30 kg. The distortion of acceleration waveform is less than 1%.The structure composition of the device and the key technologies solved are introduced. The design project of the long-stroke horizontal vibrator, the negative-feedback control technology, the pipeline dragging synchronous tracking control system and the laser vibration measuring system are described. The main technical specifications of the standard device and the results of comparison experiment are given. The establishment of the national standard device can solve the quantity traceability problem of the ultra-low frequency vibration metrology.

Abstract:There are studies indicate that audible sound wave could have effects on propagation growth through catalyzing hearing sense organs, which would bring a series of physiological and biological chemistry reaction. The sound-pressure level and frequency are important factors in propagation growth. In this study, an experimental system of audio generator was developed for investigating sound wave effect on propagation growth promotion, and an embedded development platform based on ARM+DSP+FPGA was built for the system. The DDFS (Direct Digital Frequency Synthesis) method was used to make various waveforms in the system. A feedback analysis networks was added in the system for reliable output of sound waves. Results show that the audio generator system can produce sound waves with frequency of 20 Hz similar to 20,000Hz accurately and make octave analysis of the sound in experimental environments. The new-type audio generator system will facilitate scientific researches on the field of acoustic biology.

Abstract:Aiming at the problems of the observation in situ for a long time around seafloor hydrothermal vents,the method of acoustic was applied to the temperature field measurement of hot springs on the bottom of the lake. The basis of acoustic method used for temperature field measurement of hot springs on the bottom of lake by the 16 underwater acoustic transducers was presented. The function and the composition of the sound source signal switch circuit including single-chip microcomputer control module,power module, filter module and driving module were introduced. At the same time,automatic data collection procedures based on the LabVIEW were developed which composed of serial communication module,the signal producing module,data acquisition and storage module. Experimental research was performed to accurately collect various data and exactly rebuild the temperature fields around hot springs on the floor of Lake Qiezishan,Yunnan. The experimental results show that the control system can be applied to temperature field measurement detector around hot springs on the bottom of the lake. It also has a good accuracy.

Abstract:The rapidly advancing technology of distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) has profoundly impacted the field of underwater geophysics. Our study investigates the effectiveness of DAS in underwater geological stability monitoring, with a particular focus on microseismic monitoring in the Xinfengjiang reservoir. The 6.2 km long acquisition setup, covering both land and reservoir bottom, was verified using temporary shore-based short-period seismometers to ensure reliable data acquisition in various environments. Higher background noise was observed on the land section compared with the lakebed section during the day, whereas both sections exhibited similar noise levels at night. We confirmed that the DAS system was capable of detecting distant microseismic events, some of which were previously unreported. These detections exhibited temporal and phase consistency with neighboring seismometers. Comparison of signal-to-noise ratios indicates that the lakebed section demonstrates higher sensitivity. This system delivers cost-effective performance through natural settling, negating the requirement for costly embedding methods. Moreover, the DAS system identified “comet-like” small-scale signals on the lakebed that had eluded shore-based seismometers. This exemplifies the exceptional high-density and high-resolution capabilities of DAS technology in both aquatic and terrestrial environments. This study underscores the pivotal role of the DAS technology in conducting underwater microseismic monitoring, real-time seismic monitoring, seismic mechanism research, and earthquake hazard assessment.

Abstract:Aiming at the test of void content of carbon-fiber reinforced composite used in aeronautic industry, developed a portable ultrasonic non-destructive test system. The test theory model and hardware structure are introduced. The system can output test result by C-Scan image and column chart, finally provide test report. The precision of void content results come to 99.3%. The system can test the void content of carbon-fiber reinforced composite quickly and expediently on the spot.

Abstract:On the basis of ultrasonic attenuation model,a portable detector used in void content of carbon-fiber reinforced plastics in aeronautic field is developed.The test principle,hardware structure and software developing idea of the detector are introduced.The detector employs notebook computer to control signal's collecting,processing and displaying so that the whole system is light and portable.The result shows that the detector can accurately test the void content of carbon-fiber reinforced plastics on the spot.

Abstract:Abstract Previous testing has shown that infrasound sensors deployed in the field can exhibit notable deviations from their nominal, lab-based calibrations. These variations may be due to changes in environmental conditions, long-term sensor drift, or other unresolved features. In early 2018, we installed two identical infrasound elements with five infrasound sensors at each element (Chaparral M50A, Chaparral M64LN, CEA/Martec MB2005, CEA/Seismowave MB3a, and Hyperion IFS-5113A). These sensors were accepted or under consideration for use in the International Monitoring System network of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty. Each element had all sensors connected to a single digitizer and port to the atmosphere. We also recorded instrument enclosure air temperature and humidity and external air temperature. Using the MB2005 as the reference, we examine the relative sensor response (both magnitude and phase) as a function of time and frequency and compare it with quarterly laboratory calibrations and environmental conditions. We find that the magnitude response for all sensors exhibits some variability in both the lab and field, with the amplitude variations often >5%. The field-based variations are more severe and occur on both long-term (months) and short-term (hours) timescales. Short-term variability correlates with changes in environmental conditions and is considerable (up to 25%) for the Chaparral M50A and noticeable (∼5%) for the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) MB3a. Long-term magnitude variability for the Chaparral M50A was up to 50% and does not clearly correlate with environmental conditions. The other sensors show some long-term magnitude offsets, but they have relatively stable responses in the conditions we examined. The MB3a also displays some frequency-dependent magnitude variability and shows a minor dependence on temperature. Phase estimates are stable and near zero for all sensors tested. These results strongly suggest sensor response and variability due to environmental conditions should be considered in future infrasound data interpretation and sensor selection and development.

Abstract:A differential pressure fiber optic infrasound sensor based on a mechanical filter was developed, for the detection of infrasound within the frequency range of 0.01-1 Hz. The sensing unit employs a miniature polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) diaphragm which is fixed onto a glass ferrule. An extrinsic Fabry-Perot (F-P) interferometer was fabricated between the optical fiber end face and the PPS diaphragm, and a mechanical filter structure introduced to improve the minimum detectable frequency down to 0.005 Hz. Experimental results indicate that this infrasound sensor shows a favorable frequency response for infrasound signals between 0.01 and 1 Hz, and it exhibits an average minimum detectable pressure (MDP) of 88.85 mPa.Hz(-1/2). Our platform provides a promising solution for sensors in infrasound signal detection applications.

Abstract:A centrifuge shaking table has recently been established in Tsinghua University and applied to analyze seismic soil-structure interaction.Performance requirements and configuration of the data acquisition system for the shaking table were introduced in this paper.The performance test procedures were described in details by using varieties of transducers under static and dynamic conditions.Test results indicated that acquisition system had high sampling rate,acceptable accuracy and was seldom affected by electronic interference.It was also able to obtain,transmit and treat analog signal in time under 1g or Ng centrifugal acceleration,providing experimental support for its feasibility.

Abstract:In order to study the principles, detection and analysis methods of the stimulus frequency otoacoustic emission(SFOAE)and the characteristics of suppression tuning curves(STCs),as well as to satisfy the requirements of experimental teaching, the teaching experiment platform for SFOAE STCs is developed. The proposed system is based on external sound card. Real-time processing is performed in the experimental platform to detect the threshold and suppression tuning curves of SFOAE, to show the results, and to save the data for future analysis. This teaching experiment system not only supplies the necessary experiment platform for students to understand the basic knowledge of SFOAE, but also helps students strengthen their operating ability and develop their creative thinking skills.
An Accurate and Automated Convective Vortex Detection Method for Long-Duration Infrasound Microbarometer Data

Abstract:Heating of the surficial layer of the atmosphere often generates convective vortices, known as "dust devils" when they entrain visible debris. Convective vortices are common on both Earth and Mars, where they affect the climate via dust loading, contribute to wind erosion, impact the efficiency of photovoltaic systems, and potentially result in injury and property damage. However, long-duration terrestrial convective vortex activity records are rare. We have developed a high-precision and high-recall method to extract convective vortex signatures from infrasound microbarometer data streams. The techniques utilizes a wavelet-based detector to capture potential events and then a template matching system to extract the duration of the vortex. Since permanent and temporary infrasound sensors networks are present throughout the globe (many with open data), our method unlocks a vast new convective vortex dataset without requiring the deployment of specialized instrumentation. Significance Statement Convective vortices, or "dust devils," contribute to regional dust loading in Earth's atmosphere. However, long-duration convective vortex activity records are rare. We came up with a way to autonomously detect the pressure signatures left by convective vortices striking low-frequency sound, or "infrasound," sensors. Since permanent infrasound stations have been active for decades, our method has the potential to add orders-of-magnitude more events than previously catalogued.

Abstract:Based on the analysis of existing acoustic methods and instruments, a prototype of an automated instrument has been developed to perform joint measurements in situ of two parameters: sound speed and ultrasound attenuation. The device is based on existing sound velocity profilers. It was proposed to replace the TDC-GP22 converters used in the sound speed meter ISZ-1 with more advanced modern modified converters TDC-GP30, which can significantly improve the accuracy of measuring the amplitude of the reflected acoustic signal. The programs for processing signals from the primary acoustic transducer have been developed. The model of the device passed preliminary tests.

Abstract:This article introduces a kind of ultrasonic testing system based on virtual instrument technical. It is constituted of hardware and a control and analysis software. The article mainly introduces each module of the control and analysis software,and these modules are independence. This system is a set of integrated ultrasonic testing system,which can create a number of stimulation pulses,collect echo signal,realize signal de-noising,locate the defect,and extract the feature of the defect. By calling of the dll database function of the data card base on the LabVIEW software,it realizes the echo signal collecting. In this paper,a method that combines the signal wave with array extraction is presented to locate the defect,it also proposes a method that according to the ascend velocity of the wave and the descend velocity of the wave to judge the type of the defect. The results of experiment indicated that the defect could be located precisely and identified correctly.
