Abstract:Nowadays,MANET is widely used in military,disaster relief,small meetings and so on. Since MANET has high node mob-ility and quick changes of network topology,the secure routing algorithm applied in normal wireless networks couldn't fairly solve the security problems of MANET's routing,and thus MANET's secure routing algorithm becomes a research hotspot. In actual demand,MA-NET routing algorithms are often reqired to meet strong security,quick links and anonymous communication,and however the current studies merely focus on security concerns. In combination of trusted computing,a novel secure routing algorithm TAAODV( Trusted A-nonymous AODV) is proposed. Based on AODV(ad-hoc on-demand distance vector routing) algorithm,this proposed algorithm in-corporates trusted computing and realizes anonymous communication,and by introducing zero-knowledge proof and ring signature into node certification,requires no online TA. Simulation indicates that this algorithm can resist most known attack methods,and compared with AODV,it could satisfy the demands of fast connections without much additional cost of resources.

Abstract:The anonymous security in MANETs has drawn more attention in the military and commercial applications. In the current anonymous routing protocols, the trapdoor used to hide the destination ID is encrypted by symmetric key due to its efficiency. However there exist limitations in their symmetric key anonymous negotiation. We proposed a novel protocol based on IBE cryptosystem to negotiate the shared key. It innovatively constructs the trapdoor using bilinear map to hide the destination ID. And the source node can randomly generate and update the pseudo public key and private key to hide itself true ID. We proved that it is an anonymous, effective and secure protocol through analysis and comparison with other methods. It is mentioned that our method can also be to construct the trapdoor used in the anonymous route discovery phase.

Abstract:The emergence of the Mobile Ad Hoc Networking (MANET) technology advocates self-organized wireless interconnection of communication devices that would either extend or operate in concert with the wired networking infrastructure or, possibly, evolve to autonomous networks. In either case, the proliferation of MANET-based applications depends on a multitude of factors, with trustworthiness being one of the primary challenges to be met. Despite the existence of well-known security mechanisms, additional vulnerabilities and features pertinent to this new networking paradigm might render such traditional solutions inapplicable. In particular, the absence of a central authorization facility in an open and distributed communication environment is a major challenge, especially due to the need for cooperative network operation. In particular, in MANET, any node may compromise the routing protocol functionality by disrupting the route discovery process. In this paper, we present a route discovery protocol that mitigates the detrimental effects of such malicious behavior, as to provide correct connectivity information. Our protocol guarantees that fabricated, compromised, or replayed route replies would either be rejected or never reach back the querying node. Furthermore, the protocol responsiveness is safeguarded under different types of attacks that exploit the routing protocol itself. The sole requirement of the proposed scheme is the existence of a security association between the node initiating the query and the sought destination. Specifically, no assumption is made regarding the intermediate nodes, which may exhibit arbitrary and malicious behavior. The scheme is robust in the presence of a number of non-colluding nodes, and provides accurate routing information in a timely manner.

Abstract:Wireless network coding is a promising technique that can enhance the throughput of wireless networks. However, such a technique also bears a serious security drawback: it breaks the current privacy-preserving protocols (e.g., Onion Routing), since their operations conflict each other. As user privacy in wireless networks is highly valued nowadays, a new privacy-preserving scheme that can function with wireless network coding becomes indispensable. To this end, this chapter presents a novel anonymity scheme named ANOC, which can function in network coding-based wireless mesh networks. ANOC is built upon the classic Onion Routing protocol and resolves its conflict with network coding by introducing efficient cooperation among relay nodes. Using ANOC, we can perform network coding to achieve a higher throughput, while still preserving user privacy in wireless mesh networks. We formally show how ANOC achieves the property of relationship anonymity and conduct extensive experiments via NSclick to demonstrate its feasibility and efficiency when integrated with network coding.

Abstract:Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) is a centerless packet radio network without fixed infrastructure. In recent years tremendous attentions have been received because of capabilities of self-configuration and self-maintenance. However, attenuation and interference caused by node mobility and wireless channels sharing weaken the stability of communication links especially in ubiquitous MANET. A mathematical exploring model for next-hop node has been established. The negative impact of wireless routes discontinuity on pervasive communication is alleviated by a novel route reconstructed scheme proposed in this article based on restricting the route requirement zone into a pie slice region on intermediate nodes according the solution of the exploring equation. The scheme is an effective approach to increase survivability and reduce average end-to-end delay during route maintenance as well as allowing continuous packet forwarding for fault resilience so as to support mobile multimedia communication. The ns-2 based simulation results show remarkable packets successful delivery rate and end-to-end delay improvements of source-initiated routing protocol with route reconstructing scheme, and especially in the case of high dynamic environments with heavy traffic loads, more robust and scalable performance will be obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, we present a novel anonymous secure routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). The proposed protocol not only provides anonymity from all the intermediate nodes, but also integrates the authenticated key exchange mechanisms into the routing algorithm design. Furthermore, a new attack on anonymous services, called snare attack, is introduced, where a compromised node lures a very important node (VIN) into communicating with him and traces back to the VIN by following the route path. An adversary can then snare the VIN and launch decapitation strike on the VIN. Finally, we present a novel DECOY mechanism as a countermeasure to enhance anonymity of VINs and defeat snare attack.

Abstract:Most recent security-related research on Ad Hoc network focuses on malicious nodes which do the misbehavior alone.This paper details a collaborated attack method--tunnel.Through simulation based on the DSR routing protocol and NDM security method,it shows that the tunnel attack is feasible to take considerable intrusion effect even the NDM is enabled.The corresponding security advice is given in the conclusion based on the evaluation results.

Abstract:The routing performance issues in untrusted environments are the serious challenges for the privacy protection routing protocols in mobile ad-hoc networks(MANET).In order to encourage the selfish nodes and improve the routing performance in untrusted environments,this paper proposes an anonymous incentive mechanism based on hash-chain for the location-aided routing protocols.By using the efficiency and irreversibleness of hash-chain to the location-aided routing protocols,this mechanism can realize immediate incentive to the anonymous forwarders.Moreover,this mechanism can optimize the routing discover process through a route selection mechanism based on the payment price.The anonymity analyses indicate this mechanism can guarantee the anonymities of the nodes involved in routing.The performance evaluation shows that this mechanism has little effect on the routing performance when large amounts of data are transferred,and it is more efficient in small scale networks.

Abstract:Anonymous routing protocol is designed for avoiding from being leaked by nodes during communication in mobile ad hoc networks and insuring the communication route can't be discovered.Whereas most proposed anonymous secure routing protocols known in Ad Hoc networks can't meet anonymity sufficient or apply to hierarchical Ad Hoc networks.In addition, the protocols almost didn't have formal proof.Our mechanism based on ring signature, looking for honest neighbors.The source node set "trap-door" by using the public key of destination.Adopt the on-demand routing protocol to complete this program.This new protocols meet the hierarchical Ad Hoc networks by joining the network identifier.Finally, we adopt the formal proof tool UC(universally composable model) to prove the safety and anonymity of the new protocols.

Abstract:Allowing truly spontaneous and infrastructureless networking, mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are the future of wireless networks. However, most autoconfiguration proposals for MANETs lack privacy support, namely anonymity or pseudonymity and unlinkability aspects, which has become important considerations in many practical applications. This paper presents a novel privacy extension approach (PEA) for MANETs, which prevents eavesdroppers from identifying a particular mobile node by its address. In addition to privacy concerns, our scheme also brings some performance benefits, e.g., reducing the possibility of address conflict when the merging of separately configured networks occurs.

Abstract:Node misbehavior due to selfish or malicious intention could significantly degrade the performance of MANET because most existing routing protocols in MANET are aiming at finding most efficiency path. To deal with misbehavior in MANET, an incentive mechanism should be integrated into routing decision-making. In this paper firstly we review existing techniques for secure routing, and then propose to use trust vector model based routing protocols. Each node would evaluate its own trust vector parameters about neighbors through monitoring neighbors' pattern of traffic in network. At the same time, trust dynamics is included in term of robustness. Then we evaluate the performance of the proposed mechanism by modifying Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) so that each node has a dynamic changing "trust vector" for its neighbors' behaviors. We also compare the simulation results of with and without the proposed mechanism. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed mechanisms can effectively detect malicious nodes and mitigate black hole attacks.

Abstract:As a combination of ad hoc networks and wireless local area network (WLAN), the wireless mesh network (WMN) provides a low-cost convenient solution to the last-mile network-connectivity problem. As such, existing route protocols designed to provide security and privacy protection for ad hoc networks are no longer applicable in WMNs. On the other hand, little research has focused on privacy-preserving routing for WMNs. In this paper, we propose two solutions for security and privacy protection in WMNs. The first scheme relies on group signatures, together with user credentials, to deliver security and privacy protection. By enforcing access control using user credentials, the user's identity has to be disclosed to mesh routers. To avoid this, our second scheme employs pairwise secrets between any two users to achieve stronger privacy protection. In the second scheme, the user is kept anonymous to mesh routers. Finally, we analyze these two schemes in terms of security, privacy, and performance.

Abstract:Malicious nodes in mobile ad hoc networks(MANETs) impose great threat on the security and anonymity of routing protocols.Although there is a huge amount of work in secure routing protocols,few focuses on anonymity problems recent years.Anonymous routing protocols are significantly important in military and other confidential areas because of their capability of hiding the node′s identity,location and communication relations.In this paper,a detailed survey of existing literature on anonymous routing protocols is presented.Attack behaviors in anonymous routing protocols are first identified,and the strict definition,taxonomy and anonymity evaluation metrics are also introduced.Then several typical anonymous routing protocols are generally described and their performance on security and anonymity are analyzed and compared as well.At last,some main problems and possible directions for future research are summarized and discussed.

Abstract:Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are comprised of mobile nodes that are communicating via either directed wireless links or multi-hop wireless links through a sequence of intermediate nodes. The multipath routing in mobile ad hoc networks is difficult because the network topology may change constantly, and the available alternative path is inherently unreliable. So far, much of the effort of multipath routing has been focused on using the predefined alternate path when a relay on the primary path has failed regardless of the availability of the alternate path. This reactive route handoff can increase the overhead for frequent route discoveries. This paper proposes a novel Entropy-based Long-life Multipath Routing algorithm in MANET (ELMR). The key idea of ELMR algorithm is to construct the new metric-entropy and select the stability multipath with the help of entropy metric to reduce the number of route reconstruction so as to provide QoS guarantee in MANET. It is typically proposed in order to increase the reliability of data transmission or to provide load balancing. The simulation results show that the proposed approach and parameters provide an accurate and efficient method of estimating and evaluating the route stability in dynamic MANETs.

Abstract:Customers have complained that malicious nodes are mounting increasingly sophisticated attacking operations in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs). It is obvious that the IP-based MANETs are vulnerable to attacks and therefore are insecure. In this paper, we design a novel Assignment Router Identity Protocol (ARIP) to establish a new layer of network architecture and to take full advantage of Dynamic Hybrid Multi Routing Protocol that we have recently developed for MANETs [2]. A new Identity in the flexible namespace of ARIP enhances the limit in forming prevention line in the security of MANET. A complete architecture is then derived as an instantiation of Router Identity Routing Protocol (RIRP) model whose architecture satisfies the condition of ARIP model in order to use this new Identify for routers/hosts. All applications in RIRP deal with this new Identity instead of the vulnerable IP addresses and therefore provide the security embedded seamlessly into the overall network architecture. The proposed RIRP have been implemented on the simulator Glomosim. Simulation results show that RIRP has some great impact on routing performance comparing with DHMRP.

Abstract:Security and anonymity are important issues for mobile ad hoc network (MANET) routing protocols especially in hostile environments. The adversary nodes can launch traffic analysis against routing information embedded in routing messages and data packets. In this paper we analyze the limitations of the several existing anonymous routing protocols, then we propose a new efficient anonymous on-demand routing protocol which is called MASR (MANET anonymous secure routing). It is inspired by a combination of DSR, TOR, ANODR and AnonDSR and can overcome the limitations of current anonymous routing protocols. Through analysis and simulation, we demonstrate that MASR has comparable performance with the AODV and DSR routing protocols and also has strong anonymity and security protection. ©2009 IEEE.

Abstract:Multipath routing can adapt to traffic changes, increase reliability and enhance the Quality of Service support in communication networks. This routing algorithm has been recognized as one of the salient features in Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs). However, existing multipath routing protocols are often practically infeasible due to its security venerability if they suffer from attacks in MANETs, such as repudiation attacks, Denial of Service attacks. In this paper we propose a novel secure multipath routing protocol, referred to as SMRP, and investigate its feasibility and performance. SMRP applies a new heuristic algorithm increasing the number of disjoint paths and a smart authentication mechanism to enhance the security against the attacks in MANETs. The performance results from extensive analysis and experiments show that SMRP can efficiently enhance the security in MANETs while preserving the low overhead of computing and communication.
