Diffuse Tensor Imaging Character of Temporal Lobe Epilepsy

Abstract:It is very important to investigate cerebral lesions of temporal lobe epilepsy(TLE),which is considered as a common partial epilepsy.Diffuse tensor imaging(DTI) is a technique based on diffusion of water molecules.It can reflect the integrity of white-matter fiber tracts.The diffuse tensor imaging manifestation of temporal lobe epilepsy was reviewed.Increased mean diffusivity and decreased fractional anisotropic were found in the hippocampal formation ipsilateral to the seizure focus and the formations,which are connected with epileptogenic zone,such as fornix,corpus callosum,cingulate gyrus,uncinate fasciculus(UF) and arcuate fasciculus(AF).The same changes happened on occipito-temporal lobe,cerebellum and thalamus bilaterally. Signal abnormalities in DTI of white fiber of TLE related to TLE patient' s cognition function.
