Abstract:To design and develop a novel digital double-faced jacquard fabric with different photographic patterns on face and back,the concept of weave structure of jacquard shuttle knitting was induced on the basis of single-faced jacquard fabric with photographic pattern designed by digital technology,and an auto-recognizing system of the fabric tissue by computer was also utilized.The design principle and the key points of the production technique were offered and applied to the practical production.This fabric was produced by means of computeraided synthesis of two single-faced jacquard fabrics with different photograph patterns.Practice has proved that a novel digital double-faced jacquard fabric with different photographic patterns on face and back has been successfully developed,which has intact pattern,rich colors and fine arrangement.

Abstract:Nowadays, sustainability is greatly aided by natural colors in the textile industry rather than harmful and carcinogenic synthetic dyes. Due to heightened knowledge of the risks to the environment and human health involved with the manufacturing and use of synthetic dyes, there is a greater demand for natural dyeing and printing. In this work, we employed a green technique for eco-printing and dyeing silk fabrics using some agricultural wastes, which resulted in the formation of bioactive silk fabrics that inhibit the growth of microbes and insects. In dying and eco-printing experiments, onion outer skin (quercetin), rose, eucalyptus, lemon, grape, and peach leaves, which are utilized in the eco-printing method for silk printing, were used in the experiments. The colorfastness to washing, perspiration, and crocking was evaluated by AATCC 61-2020, AATCC 15-2013, and AATCC 8-2016, respectively. By utilizing iron (II) sulfate and alum as mordents, botanical eco-printing techniques have expanded the color spectrum, altered color shades, and enhanced color output. The infrared (IR) spectra of silk in all stages of dying and printing were measured to study the mode of binding between silk and natural dyes. The bioactivity of eco-printed silk was tested in light of its antimicrobial and insecticide activities. Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger , Bacillus cereus , Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, and Escherichia coli , were tested for antibacterial activity on eco-printed silk, and its efficacy was compared to that of undyed silk. The findings indicated that colored fabrics are effective because they exhibit a higher maximal inhibition area than undyed fabrics, with natural dye-drenched materials producing the highest level of inhibition (88%) against all isolated species. Dyed fabrics also demonstrated a respectable level of washing fastness. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) photos were collected after 5 and 10 days of incubation to track the growth of microbes on the textile surface. In addition, eco-printed silk outperformed undyed silk in its ability to repel Oryzaephilus surinamensis .

Abstract:In India, high-quality silk fabrics are nearly exclusively made from the highly prized textile fibre of animal origin known as silk. Silk sarees and materials for clothing are sold in a variety of stores. The majority of these retail stores are constantly searching for various types of silk materials to advertise as unique goods. Central Silk Technological Research Institute (CSTRI) continuously works in this field to offer the silk industry a variety of silk yarns and fabrics produced under eco-friendly tags. In one such attempt, CSTRI developed a wet processing technique with a user-friendly chemical, calcium nitrate tetrahydrate, by optimizing the process parameter such as time, temperature and chemical concentration. The comfort properties of the fabric were improved by modifying the secondary structure of the fibroin protein that was ascertained by Raman and C-13 NMR spectroscopies. Significantly higher drape and crease recovery properties were measured by Kawabata and FTT analysis. The products were developed in commercial scales (beside their costing) and displayed for 21 days to assess the market potential in terms of subjective assessment, product preference and price. The survey findings were statistically analysed using Minitab and Python software. The project findings in unequivocal terms recommend the chemical process using the safe chemical to treat the grey-finished fabrics to have improved utility, durability and comfort properties.

Abstract:The approaches for cotton shrink-resistant finishing can be categorized into chemical finishing and physical finishing. In this research, a new approach to prevent cotton fabric from shrinkage and wrinkling without resin finishing was studied to reach an easy care effect of "wash-and-wear" for related end products. It was achieved by adding a certain proportion of fine denier polyester and memory polyester fibers. Unlike the previous chemical finishing methods, this physical finishing method does not cause yellowing, formaldehyde content increase or strong damage of tensile strength. It can reduce the shrinkage rate and increases the wrinkle recovery angle (WRA) through the shape memory formed by the memory polyester fiber in the heat setting stage. Our results were of better condition with significant improvements in WRA, anti-pilling effect, shrink-proofing and strength of the fabrics. The fabrics can be widely used in bedding textiles and shirting fabrics.

Abstract:The wicking ability of the fabric is one of the most important parameters that affect the comfort of clothing. Silk is a natural long-fiber material, and researching the water-absorption properties of natural silk yarn helps in developing textile products with specific performance characteristics, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of textiles in the market. This research aims to analyze the wicking behavior of silk yarn simulating their interlaced conditions when they were woven. To investigate the effect of yarn twist and yarn fineness, 13 different silk yarns were examined in individual and interlaced scenarios. Results showed that both yarn twist and fineness affect the wicking performance, and the permeability and capillary hydraulic diameter were calculated. A comparison of experimental results and best theoretical fits according to Fries and Dryer's proposed model. On the other hand, a good correlation was observed between the wicking length of single yarns and interlaced yarns. This suggests that the characteristics of single yarn can be potentially used for predicting the wicking behavior of woven textiles, where yarns form interlacements. This study can usher in innovations and enhancements that can benefit future virtual clothing design and real-world wear.

Abstract:Textile Research Journal, Ahead of Print. Natural fibers exhibit good moisture absorption, antistatic properties and skin affinity. However, they are difficult to dry due to high water retention. Herein, two types of environmentally friendly yarn structures were developed, the single wrapping structure and double wrapping structure, using the physical methods of filament spinning to wrap the core yarn in order to improve the moisture transport of the fabric. Silk 30 D/10 f filaments were used to wrap 32S bleached long-staple cotton yarn. Improved water evaporation rates by 13.12% and 2.97% were achieved with the application of the single and the double wrapping twist of 700 T/m, respectively. The experiment data obtained was evaluated using analysis of variance, which indicates the wrapping structures and the twist level are significant parameters affecting the wicking performance of the yarns. Moreover, there is an optimal twist level to modify yarns with greater moisture management performance for each of the wrapping structures, which provides a reference for the yarn production and enhances the application of natural fibers.

Abstract:Tricot warp knitted fabric usually formed plain fabric, mesh fabric, elastic fabric and velvet fabric. For sportswear, the mesh fabric was used to only provide good ventilation. Two-layered knitted fabric combined different materials normally was fabricated by weft knitting technology. Plating structure of single jersey or modified double jersey structure were popularly investigated. It is a challenge to form two-layered tricot warp knitted fabric on single needle bed machine due to its knitting principle. This study developed a moisture management warp knitted tricot fabric with polyester yarn at the outer surface and polypropylene yarn at the inner surface. When compared with normal warp knitted fabric made of polyester, nylon and cotton, the new developed warp knitted fabric had good moisture management property. The moisture management grade reached excellent values. Indexes, such as wetting time, maximum wetted radius, spreading speed, accumulative one-way transport capacity, overall moisture management capacity were at grade 5, while absorption rate was at grade 3.5. It is a new approach to produce the two-layered tricot warp knitted fabric using three needle guides on single needle bar warp knitting machine.

Abstract:In this study, a novel multifunctional woven silk fabric characterized by quick-drying and bacteriostasis was developed through the addition of modified polyester filaments. The effect of fabric structure and filament proportion on the properties of multifunctional silk fabrics was investigated to determine the optimal weaving parameters for optimizing the overall fabric manufacturing process. Moreover, the fabric's basic wearing properties, hygroscopic performance (e.g. wicking height, drip diffusion, and permeability), and antibacterial performance against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were examined. Subsequently, the optimum parameters and weave structures were analyzed and evaluated using AHC (Analytic Hierarchy Process)-TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution) method. The novel fabric exhibits great wearability, antibacterial properties, dyeing properties, and hand feeling, and it shows great commercial potential and takes on a vital significance in future silk product development.

Abstract:The main shortages of traditional design for silk garment are: stylized design concept; simple and plane model; lack of diversified skin texture; and the color limit to the inherent quality of silk fabric, not fit for diversified and personalized aesthetic need of modern people. This paper breaks through traditional fabric design, and proposes optimization design methods of modern silk garment. The methods include matching different silk fabrics with different textures, or matching silk fabrics with other fabrics such as leather, fur, jean and knits.

Abstract:The research and development of fine size silk as representative of special silk variety,and its products are being concerned by lots of scholars at home and abroad,which have achieved positive progresses.Using the induction of trimolter by anti-juvenile hormone analogs and the breeding of fine size silkworm variety,the fine size silk of about 2.0 D(2.222 dtex) and its special products received by the market were developed.The ultrafine size silk of about 1.0 D(1.111 dtex) were developed by using "superfine plain" to change the moultinism of silkworm,and its products have good characteristics as unique luster and flavor,anti-wrinkle,excellent stainability,high efficiency etc.,showing the good development and utilization value.

Process Route of Producing High Count Pure Cotton Yarn Dyed Fabrics by Carrier Soluble PVA Spinning Technology

Abstract:Two process routes(dissolving water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) after dyeing and weaving,dyeing and weaving after dissolving water-soluble PVA) used to produce high count and high density pure cotton yarn dyed fabric by using water-soluble PVA carrier spinning technology are analyzed and the experimental researches are done.The research results show that the strength of yarn produced by the former process route is lower and its weavability is bad,and it's difficult for industrial production.The weaving efficiency and the fabric quality can be guaranteed by the later process route and it is suitable for industrial production.Also the whiteness of the dyed yarn fabric decreases after dissolving PVA and its color becomes light,but there is no obvious staining.

Abstract:The study on 3-D glass fiber sandwich structures of warp knitting fabric was based on the traditional sandwich warp knitting,including selection of raw material,fabric structure design,and trial weaving on machine etc.The results showed that optimized design of warp knitting fabric structure,selection of glass fiber yarn with less linear density and twist factor,and proper lubrication during weaving can greatly reduce end breaking due to glass fiber′s brittleness,electrostatic generation and hair hooking tendency.At the same time,choosing proper knitting elements configuration good for loop formation,optimization of the knitting shape,adjusting the yarn tension according to yarn tension fluctuation peak,and choosing larger force angle can better improve the weaving performance of glass fiber and the shaping quality of 3-D sandwich structures of warp knitting.This study offers some reference for practical production.

Abstract:By means of knitting and weaving, the new yarn was woven into a new eco-friendly leatherette. A series of research methods and data are summarized through the optimization and improvement of the design process and the heat-setting treatment of the fabric after weaving, which will bring a breakthrough in the reform of the preparation, research and development of new environmentally-friendly materials and product application. The new environmentally-friendly imitation leather fabrics is superior to similar products and boasts advantages in product application, such fabric is comfortable, breathable, waterproof, windproof, folding-resistant, wear-resisting and biodegradable. The cost of its production is much lower than expensive leather products, in the meantime, the space for design and development in the aspect of fabric texture, pattern, and color can be expanded more compared with other leather and imitation leather products.

Abstract:Increasing dye utilization, shortening the process and reducing the discharge of colored wastewater are the keys to clean dyeing and finishing of fabrics. In this study, we report a clean dyeing process. The process improved the dye utilization and achieved wrinkle-finishing and dyeing in the same bath by enhancing cross-linking of dyes with fiber macromolecular chains. It was observed by SEM that the cross-section of the dyed fibers showed round or oval shape, and the mid-cavities were reduced or even disappeared. The swelling rate of the fibers and cellulase degradation experiments showed that the dyes formed stable cross-linking structures with the macromolecular chains. Furthermore, differences in the structure of reactive dyes affected the optimal reaction conditions between the dyes and the fibers. Compared to conventional processes, the K/S , color fixation rate, and wrinkle recovery angle of dyed fabrics with different dyes were significantly improved. This illustrated the superiority of this process and the applicability of different structural dyes. Compared to traditional processes, the process saved 29.6 % of dyes and 16.7 % of alkalis. Importantly, the process could save 200 % of water, 9.5 kW h of energy consumption and 61.6 m 3 of saturated steam. Ultimately, this process could save 7.22 $ of the cost of dyeing 1 kg of fabric. The concentration of dyes in the dyeing wastewater was significantly reduced. In summary, the clean process has good economic and environmental benefits.
