Over-expression of P~(53)mutant Protein in Gastric Carcinoma

Abstract:By using ABC immunohistochemical method, expression of p~(53) protein in cryostatic sections of tumor tissues and their adjacent mucosa resected from 38 patients with gastric cancer was studied. p~(53) was found positive in nuclei with intensive staining in 24 out of 38 cases with carcinoma(63.2%), in which 3/4 were well differentiated, 13/20 moderatelly differentiated, 5/9 poorly differentiated and 3/5 mucinous adenocarcinoma. p~(53)positive cells were distributed diffusively in the tumor tissues. All the adjacent mucosa except 10 were negatively stained with anti-p~(53) monoclonal antibody pAb1801. These 10 adjacent mucosas were only weakly stained. p~(53) was also found positive in 18 out of 23 cancer patients with metastasis in perigastric lymph nodes(78.3%).
