Abstract:In recent years, the number of electric vehicle (EV) chargers grows rapidly. However, the relatively poor management of EV chargers has caused a relatively low utilization rate and even waste of resources. Moreover, large-scale integration of EVs affects the power system operation. Aiming at exploiting the potential of EV chargers and solving overvoltage limit problems, this paper proposes a control strategy of three-phase connected EV charger to realize its participation in power system reactive power response. Firstly, the basic model of EV charger with three-phase connection is introduced. Then, the control flow of the EV charger is established. Finally, the simulation results verify the feasibility of the proposed control logic. In addition, the power adjustment range is obtained by limiting the line current. The results of this paper can be applied in the distribution network for reactive power compensation considering the demand-side response.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the integration technology of electric vehicle motor driving system and on-board charging system. The front-stage bi-directional AC/DC converter time-multiplexes a three-phase bridge full-control circuit into a staggered parallel totem pole power factor correction circuit and a three-phase inverter circuit, which enables the on-board charging system to have a motor control function. It can form a bidirectional AC/DC converter which can realize the function of motor control. The rear-stage DC/DC converter can realize the energy exchange between power supply and power battery or power battery and motor through dual active bridge structure. The working characteristics of the front-stage circuit and the soft switching range of the rear-stage circuit are studied. The mathematical model of the front-stage circuit and the rear-stage circuit are established by small signal analysis, and the control strategy of the front-stage double-closed loop and the rear-stage double-loop competition is adopted. The PI controller parameters are designed by using the mathematical model of the system, and the stability of the compensated system is verified by the open-loop amplitude-frequency characteristic curve. The simulation model and experimental platform are established. The charging mode is verified by the electronic load and high voltage DC source simulate the power battery. The driving mode is verified by using the 5 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor. The simulation and experimental results verify the feasibility of the system to achieve charging and driving functions.

Abstract:DHT hybrid transmission assembly control system discussed in this paper includes hydraulic control, hybrid mode switching control, shift control, dual motor control, clutch and motor thermal management. The hybrid mode is divided into four modes: the EV mode, the serial mode, the parallel mode and the launch mode. Hydraulic control includes torque-pressure conversion, clutch pressure kiss point adaption, clutch oil filling time adaption. Shift control includes shift type decision, shift sequence control, shift inertia process based on motor intervention. Thermal management includes clutch flow and motor flow distribution. Motor control include the current control, mode control and boost strategy of permanent magnet synchronous motor in dual hybrid system, which has good stability and robustness. Motor mode includes initialization mode, normal mode, fault mode, active discharge mode, power off mode. The boost strategy of the hybrid system is based on boost mode management, boost target voltage determination and boost PI control. Finally, the real vehicle test is carried out to verify the effectiveness and advancement of the DHT control design.

Abstract:Aiming at studying the specific model and traction control system of high-speed EMU,using direct torque control(DTC) system to control asynchronous traction motors,the Matlab/Simulink model of a high-speed CRH3 EMU traction and drive system was established.DC voltage of 3 000 V was output with four-quadrant pulse rectifier,and drive traction motors was controlled by DTC system in inverter part.According to the traction and braking curves of CRH3 EMU,the traction,idle line,regenerative brake and other operating condition were simulated.In the entire operation process,harmonics are small,voltage/current phase can be maintained at the same phase or reversed-phase,power factor is close to 1.At the situation of net voltage fluctuation and a sudden loss of electricity,the locomotive can maintain constant speed operation.Finally,compared with the data of Beijing-Tianjin inter-city high-speed rail,the results indicate that the model is basically correct,and the system has a good steady-state and dynamic performance,the effectiveness and correctness of direct torque control method are verified.

Abstract:Based on the structure of traction drive system and the traction characteristics of CIT400 high-speed comprehensive inspection train,a simulation model was established by MATLAB/Simulink for the traction drive system of high-speed comprehensive inspection train under predictive current control.The operation characteristics of CIT400 high-speed inspection train were simulated and analyzed upon short-time power failure of pantograph and net voltage fluctuation under traction and brake conditions.Simulation results were compared with measured data.Research shows that the simulation result and measured data are basically identical.The established model can correctly reflect the operation characteristics of the train and can meet the dynamic and static requirements for the actual operation of train.

Abstract:In electric vehicle (EV) systems, bi-directional DC/DC converters are applied to interface the battery bank with the high voltage DC-link of the inverter. The control of the DC-link voltage is important for the high performance of the system. A DC-link voltage control strategy for the bidirectional DC/DC converter is proposed, which eliminates the need for detecting the operating mode and do not need to change the control loop when the modes transfer between the motor driving mode and the regenerative braking mode. The dynamic model of the bi-directional DC/DC converter with the constant power load is built. Afterward design of the proposed control is presented. Finally, a prototype is built to validate the proposed DC-link voltage control strategy and evaluate the dynamic performance.

Abstract:Electric vehicles (EVs) provide a feasible solution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and thus become a heated topic for research and development. Switched reluctance motors are one of promised motors for EV applications. In order to extend the EVs' driving miles, the use of photovoltaic (PV) panels on the vehicle helps decrease the reliance on vehicle batteries. Based on phase winding characteristics of SRMs, a tri-port converter is proposed in this paper to control the energy flow between the PV panel, battery and SRM. Six operating modes are presented, four of which are developed for driving and two for standstill onboard charging. In the driving modes, the energy decoupling control for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of the PV panel and speed control of the SRM are realized. In the standstill charging modes, a grid-connected charging topology is developed without a need for external hardware. When the PV panel directly charges the battery, a multi-section charging control strategy is used to optimize energy utilization. Simulation results based on Matlab/Simulink and experiments on a 3kW SRM prove the effectiveness of the proposed tri-port converter, which has potential economic implications to improve the market acceptance of EVs.

Abstract:When working in harsh conditions, the dump truck brakes frequently. And the braking energy consumption of it accounts for a large proportion of the total energy consumption. Due to the wide range fluctuation and high frequency of the instantaneous wide range fluctuation on DC bus voltage, the efficient and stable control on braking energy recovery and utilization system is a key challenge that needs to be solved urgently. This paper proposes a self-adaption two-degree-of-freedom PID control strategy, which implements high efficient and stable control of the charging and discharging process of the system. Meanwhile, the response speed of charging and discharging current are accelerated and the interference resistant capacity is also improved in the charging and discharging process. The experimental platform of braking energy recovery and utilization system of the dump truck with 300kW/1800V supercapacitor and battery mixed energy storage was built. And the establishment of prototype had been completed. Finally, vehicle operation Experiment was conducted on the 730E tramcar in Ping Shuo An-Jialing coal mine. The experimental results were tested by a third party, and the efficiency of the braking energy recovery and utilization system reached 53.5%. The experimental result verified the efficiency, feasibility and stability of the charging and discharging control strategy.

Abstract:For electrified transportation (eTransportation) systems, multi-phase motors can provide higher performance and reliability than three-phase ones, but also bring more challenges in their optimal design and control. In this article, a set of high reliable electric drive system based on dual three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (DTP PMSM) is developed for auxiliary systems in eTransportation field. A digital collaborative develop process is proposed with the support of multiple software tools. Design, manufacture, and bench testing stages of the DTP PMSM, the two-level six-phase inverter, and the control algorithm are efficiently incorporated. A prototype of the multi-phase electric drive system is fabricated and tested. Comparison of the simulation analysis and experimental results confirms the effectiveness of the collaborative develop progress. Control algorithms based on dual d-q model and vector space decomposition model are both verified and compared via the bench test. Operation mode switching from six-phase mode to three-phase mode is also realized with the prototype system, verifying its capability in fault-tolerant and potential in efficiency optimizing.

Abstract:Corresponding to the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) used in electric vehicle (EV), control system was designed. Based on the experts experience and motor response curve, combining the actual running state of EV, the fuzzy control rules were made. The fuzzy-PI controller was designed and embedded in the vector control system, and then the simulation was completed. A double-condition considering both speed and duty cycle was utilized to judge whether the flux-weakening control was necessary. A subsection control strategy was adopted according to the speed threshold. Finally, by the running experiment of IPMSM used in EV, it was proved that the response performance and running stability of the motor were improved, and the controllable speed range was widened.

The composition and functions of this control system are described. This control system is tested by plenty of experiments on the dynamic test bench. Abstract:In order to make fully use of the electric motor in the PHEV, PMSM mathematical model is established and vector transformation method is used to achieve current direct decoupling control in both torque component and excitation component. This method controls the torque of PMSM effectively, and makes AC motors comparable with DC motors. Two kinds of PMSM vector control mode that fits for HEV are proposed, and different driving speeds are compared. MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation model based on above analysis is established. The results show that the control system is fast in response, has little fluctuations in output parameters and high efficiency. The vehicle has good dynamic characteristics and high recovery rate of braking energy, and the fuel economy is improved.

Abstract:A Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) is a kind of car driven by both a gas engine and an electromotor. Its advantages are energy savings and environmental protection. It is necessary for an HEV to control two coexistent drives by digital systems. An HEV with an electronic control system shows higher performance than traditional cars. The system is composed of one control kernel called the multi-energy managing unit and five independent intelligent nodes. All these nodes are connected by a Controller Area Network (CAN) and are managed with an excellent control mechanism.

Abstract:In order to satisfy the functions and performance of power controlling system to electric vehicles in the city,this paper takes advantage of brushless direct current motor as the controlled object,and makes use of the digital signal processor of TMS320LF2407A produced by TI Company of America as the core hardware.At the same time,presents the hardware circuit used in the drive and control system of brushless direct current motor,and it was demonstrated by the results of experiment research that this system has the good performance of regulating speed and regenerative brake.

Abstract:A dual-mode PWM current control strategy is presented for two operation modes of electric driving and regenerative braking.In the electric mode,the PI modulation and limited single polar PWM control are used.In the braking mode,a current hysteresis control mode is presented in this paper in the view of the possible damage on the batteries when the simple PWM method can not effectively control the regenerative peak currents.Simulative results show that this method is superior to the simple PWM control method with the technologic features of 16 bits DSP,and the intelligent power mod-ules(IPM) are used as main switches.The control system design is implemented.The conversion experiments between the different work modes in steady state and dynamic state have been accomplished.In the actual experiment,the control strat-egy and the control system have been checked.Experimental results show that the system is reliable.

Abstract:To enhance the performance of hybrid electric vehicle and continuously variable transmission, and to achieve more varied operation modes, a novel breed of integrated electromechanical converter is presented, such as electrical variable transmission (EVT) and four-quadrant transducer. Synthesizing two electric machines, they are essentially electromagnetic theory-based converters with the function of speed, torque, and energy regulation. The feature of flexible and variable control makes them very suitable for use in automobiles, especially in hybrid electric vehicles, as a continuously variable transmission and integrated starter and generator. Furthermore, the operation of the internal combustion engine is optimized, and the reduction of fuel consumption and the improvement of vehicle performance are also achieved. Corresponding to different road loads and driver demands, several operating states and control strategies are possible. Based on a simplified structure, the mathematical model of the EVT has been built, and its power flow and control strategies under different operation modes, are also analyzed

Abstract:In this paper,based on a domestic ISG parallel mild hybrid electric vehicle (HEV),some topics have been researched,including the analysis of driver power demand,the energy management strategy based on engine operating area optimization and parallel break energy recovery strategy which would not affect the ABS system. Then the hardware system and software system have been developed.On this basis,the powertrain controller has been evaluated by hardware-in-the-loop method and vehicle test method.It's proved that as control centre of the parallel mild HEV,the powertain controller is reliable,and make vehicle's emissions much lower than EuroⅢstandard and 13.2% fuel consumption reduced,in ECEEUDC circle.

Abstract:The active speed-tuning control in the process of gearshift can ensure the ideal gear-shifting quality and the driving performance. For parallel and series hybrid electric vehicle (PSHEV),the control is more difficult because of the multi-powers. The active speed-tuning control algorithm used to reduce the impingement of components and the duel-loop control algorithm was presented in this paper. The outer control loop based on the increment PID algorithm controlled the speed error between the active and passive components; the inner control loop based on the fuzzy control logic controlled the regulation of the engine,electric motor and the generator. The online tests on the bench were carried on using the ECU of PSHEV. The test results indicated that the active speed-tuning control algorithm could control the components working harmoniously and ensure a fast and smooth gearshift.

Abstract:The problems of global warming, a decrease of the available natural resources and many other problems in the world that happen recently become the major cause for increasing the demand for a new type of vehicle. That vehicle can be an environmental friend and so that a new generation of vehicles has been invented and tried to solve and avoid many problems. In this chapter, the proposed system is called the Multi-Converter/Multi-Machine system (MCMMS) which consists of two Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM) that drive the two rear wheels of Pure Electric Vehicle (PEV). The SynRM speed and torque are controlled by using three different strategies of the PID controller. The PSO algorithm has been used as an optimization technique to find the optimal PID parameter to enhance the drive system performance of the PEV. In this system, the space vector pulse width modulation inverter for voltage source (VS-SVPWMI) has been employed to convert the DC battery voltage to three-phase AC voltage that feeds the SynRM motor in the PEV. The linear speed of the vehicle is controlled by an Electronic Differential Controller (EDC) which gives the reference speed for each driving wheel which depends on the driver reference speed and the steering angle. The specified driving route topology with three different road cases has been applied to acting and show the resistive forces that affected on the PEV during its moving on the road. In addition, to test the efficiency and stability of the PEV on the roads. Hence, this chapter has a full design, simulation and several comparison results for the propulsion electric vehicle system and it has tested implemented in the Matlab/Simulink environment version R2020a.
