Abstract:To study effects of lysine fermented protein meal on performance and amino acid availability in broilers, 1 400 oncday -old broilers were randomly assigned to five diets with 7 replicates each, each replicate containing 40 birds. Diet 1 was basal diet (control); diets 2 (G2) and 3 (G3) were lysine fermented protein meal diets with 20% and 40% protein substitution of soybean protein in basal diet; diets 4(G4) and 5(G5) were the lysine fermented protein meal diets with the supplementation of Lys, Met or Cys in diet 2 or 3 on the same total amino acid level as diet 1. Amino acid availability of all diets from day 22 to day 42 was measured by collecting total faeces after growth trial. Amino acid apparent and true availability of lysine fermented protein meal were evaluated with TME method by using 14 healthy 44-day-old broilers. The results showed that: (1) average body weight (ABW) and average daily feed intake (ADFI) of G2 and G4 were the highest in all of diets. Differences of ABW were not significant between G2 or G4 and control (P0. 05), while differences of ADFI were significant between G2 or G4 and the others (P0. 05). ABW and ADFI of G3 were the lowest in all diets, and significantly different with those of the other groups (P0. 01). Gain/feed ratio of control was the lowest in all of diets, gain/feed ratios of G3, G5 was the highest in all of diets and significantly different from those of the other groups (P0. 01); (2) except the ileum index, the indexes of digestive organ in G3 were significantly higher than those in the other groups (P0. 05), pancreas index of G4 was the lowest in all of diets and there was significant difference between G4 and control or G3 or G5 (P0. 05); (3) intestinal tract pH of G3 was significantly higher than the other groups (P0. 01), and the pH of G2, G4 and G5 were also significantly increased compared with that of control (P0. 01); (4) the protein availability, amino acid apparent and true availability of control group were higher than those of other groups. There was extremely significant difference between control and G3 or G5 (P0. 01); (5) total amino acid apparent and true availability of lysine fermented protein meal were less than 60% , and the content of available amino acid was less than 30% . In conclusion, it is feasible for lysine fermented protein meal to substitute 20% soybean protein in diet, but substitution of 40% soybean protein will decrease growth performance and availability of protein and amino acid in diets. However, those will be obviously improved when adding exogenous amino acid in diets. Essential and non-essential amino acid apparent and true availability are low in Lysine fermented protein meal.
