Assessing the Intensity of Land Use for Highway Construction in Zhengzhou Area

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to assess the intensity of land use for highway construction in Zhengzhou area in order to guide the rationality of highway development practically.The Method of multi-factors Evaluation was employed.The results indicated that the intensity of land use for highway construction in Zhengzhou area had increased from 2002 to 2009.Meanwhile the function of highway land became more and more effective; however the coordination of the highway expansion and the socio-economic development still needed to be improved.Compared to other regions of China,the intensity of highway land was relative high in Zhengzhou area.It is concluded that the key points of development of intensive land use for highway construction in Zhengzhou area was to optimize the land use structure, upgrade the existed highways and decrease the input of newly-built area for highway construction.
